For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Aimovig for 5 months. My almost daily migraines stopped completely after 3 months. But, I am going to stop as I cannot manage the side effects. Mainly, insomnia, aching, painful muscles, significant hair loss, intense fatigue, no concentration and brain fog, constipation. Has anyone else experienced these side effects? I am on steroids, so I wondered if it reacts to some medications. It’s a shame as it really did work for me."

For Migraine Prevention "I've had headaches/migraines since I was 20 and been to headache specialists, neurologists, PCPs... FINALLY, my new neurologist tried me on AIMOVIG 70 mg. I've done only ONE injection and will NEVER DO IT AGAIN!! The injection has caused severe constipation, a very itchy scalp (to the point I thought I had lice!!), severe body pain, especially in my feet and hands - I'm dropping things because I can't get a grip on anything! I've noticed an increase in my appetite/weight, low energy, nausea, my hair falling out, and stomach pain. I still have really bad headaches, but I knew the medicine wouldn't work this soon. After I researched this drug, I saw my symptoms seem to be a common pattern. I had an emergency appointment with my doctor about the Aimovig, she had to put me on pain meds, referred me to a pain doctor/neurologist to discuss possibly trying Botox. I can't wait for this awful injection to work itself out of my body!!! I don't recommend this to anyone!!!!"

For Migraine Prevention "47-year-old migraine sufferer for decades and have tried Botox, amitriptyline, venlafaxine, Topamax, with little success over the past decade. Started with a 70 mg dose of Aimovig in Sept 2018, had no improvement, went up to a 140 mg dose of Aimovig in Oct 2018. Still no improvement and actually felt worse. I had significant hair loss, a long-duration cold, and constipation. I stopped Aimovig after Oct 2018 and am still suffering from an almost daily (minor) migraine that doesn't go away in most cases. Usual abortive drugs (rizatriptan, sumatriptan) don't usually work but sometimes take the edge off. My headache pain lessens once I get up and going in the morning but always resurfaces at night. I have the GammaCore (non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation device) also, and it too can take the edge off after about 6-7 treatments in a row, but it's limited at best. I am back to Botox, but this isn't doing much. My symptoms have lasted for over seven months and I'm very concerned for my health."

For Migraine Prevention "I started my first Aimovig injection February 5th. I took my 2nd March 5th and am due for another April 5th. I was still weaning off Topamax in February. But the side effects have been ridiculous. I have insomnia, rapid heartbeat, stomach issues, constipation, stiff joints, muscle cramps and spasms, leg and arm pain, neck pain and headaches, dizziness/vertigo, hot flashes (day and night), hair loss, chest pains, and my blood pressure had gone up, and it used to be low. It had reduced my migraines, but the side effects are not worth it."

For Migraine Prevention "I took two 70 mg doses for chronic daily headaches and felt even worse. No constipation or respiratory issues, but extreme hair loss and tremors/anxiety. My wedding is next month, and I have no idea what to do with what’s left of my hair."

For Migraine Prevention "I took Aimovig in Feb 2019 after not responding to preventive meds, including Botox. I had 2 (70mg) injections. I was nauseated, had heart palpitations, intense itch on feet, and felt like I had the flu after the injection. My migraines got worse from 12-15 monthly to almost daily. Migraines did not respond to triptans, promethazine, or CBD, but abortives worked once Aimovig cleared my system in about 45 days. I had the worst constipation and foul gas - used stool softeners. I got random migraines after avoiding triggers. I had about 4 hours of sleep at night (week 1-2). My hair fell out, and I had to cut my hair (week 2-3). My period became irregular with a 60-day cycle, and it has been irregular since. It appears the trials excluded people who failed most preventives. Did anyone gain weight? 5 pounds of unexplained weight. Other issues include sciatica pain, pain in inner thighs, fatigue, and stinky gas! Does Aimovig increase phosphates in blood? My last test showed elevated phosphates."

For Migraine Prevention "Aimovig has been very helpful for my migraines. I use Miralax to help with the side effect of constipation. However, I have begun having significant hair loss within a couple of weeks of starting this injectable medication. I am on my second injection now. The hair loss is becoming overwhelming!"

For Migraine Prevention "Retired-Eagle Lake, FL - August 2019 I used Aimovig for 6 months. At first, I felt that this was my miracle drug for my chronic migraines (17 yrs). I will give it an “A” for taking my migraine pain away, but my side effects were significant hair loss."

For Migraine Prevention "I began Aimovig injections in August 2018. I finally started realizing that I was experiencing fewer, less severe migraines by last November. It was miraculous. This improvement continued throughout the winter, even though life stress increased significantly. However, by Dec-Jan, I became very concerned at the incredible hair loss! I was told by insurance in May that they would not cover Aimovig 'until I tried 2 other treatments first.' I have now been using Ajovy for 3 months. I have had a huge increase in the number and severity of migraines since switching to Ajovy, but I don't know if that's due to the time it will take my system to adjust, or whether it's less effective? Plus, I hate not having an auto-injector. I'm not squeamish about the needle, I just don't think the medicine is delivered as effectively. But... my hair is growing back at a good rate, thank goodness!"

For Migraine Prevention "I've been using Aimovig since March. I did 70 mg for a few months and moved up to 140 mg after. I've been tolerating it pretty well - no side effects like hair loss or muscle pain. Though there is some constipation. I'm a complicated case because I had a migraine for over a year and couldn't tolerate light or sound. I'm quite sure I started healing faster once I started Aimovig. It was worth a try for me. If you're considering trying, I would do it - you could be a lucky super responder or at least have little side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "It helped with my headaches after the severe TBI. From having 20 migraine days a month, it decreased to 5 days a month. But side effects are horrible. I can't breathe, a shortness of breath, constipation, hair loss, fatigue, weight gain, acne, and joint pain. I prefer headaches rather than having all these side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had migraines since I can remember. I've never had much luck controlling them long-term. I am on Botox and daily preventives. I started Aimovig 140 mg 6 months ago. It has also been up and down. Some months are better than others, but overall I do think it has helped decrease the severity and frequency of them. I did notice that if I got a bad migraine, it was harder to get rid of, but the majority of my migraines now are pretty mild in comparison to what they used to be, and I only get a severe one about once or twice a month. I have not noticed many side effects, if anything, maybe a little more hair loss than normal."

For Migraine Prevention "I have been on Aimovig since 2018, first on 70 mg, then 140 mg. Overall, very positive experience. It has reduced my full-blown migraines to zero. I get morning headaches, and those are down, too. I do not have many of the side effects that others have mentioned, but I do struggle with my weight. Years of being on one migraine med or another never makes it easy to lose. My hair is also thinning on top, and I wonder if Aimovig is causing this. My sister-in-law and two cousins are on Aimovig, and it has helped them greatly with minimal side effects. Good luck, everyone."

For Migraine Prevention "This has been a miracle drug for someone who has suffered with migraines for 40 years. Unfortunately, in the second month (70 mg dose), I started to experience tremendous hair loss and hair texture change. Month 4 and I am still experiencing hair loss/texture change. Had thyroid/hormone levels checked, all good. I have reported this to Aimovig and am switching to Ajovy for the next dose."
