For Acne "I am 19 and have had mild to severe acne all throughout my teen years. I have tried so many different acne products, such as Proactiv and other prescription creams, but nothing ever worked. It really lowered my self-esteem, and I would never leave the house without makeup. I decided to try Yasmin because it was the only thing left to try before Accutane, and plus my periods were really irregular, so I was hoping it would help that as well. I have now been on Yasmin for 8 months, and my skin is completely clear, with just a few pimples every once in a while. Also, my periods regulated as soon as I started the pill. My face didn’t get worse at the beginning, but it does take a few months to see results. I have been a little more moody since I started and have gained a little bit of weight (I also haven’t been exercising), but I’m for sure going to stay on it because my face is the clearest it’s ever been, and I now feel comfortable leaving my house without makeup."

For Acne "I was put on Yasmin 3 months ago for my acne as well as a use of contraceptive. Over the past three months, my skin had gotten so much worse. Big cystic spots around my jawline and cheeks, as well as small under-the-skin pimples. I've suddenly started to realize myself changing with depressive moods, anxiety, emotional wreck, weight gain, and generally not myself. I will not be taking my fourth month packet, as the hope for clear skin is just not worth this feeling. My advice: don't take this pill."

For Acne "Having been on Estelle-35 for nearly a year (which gave me the worst acne of my life, 10 times worse than it already was), I decided to change to Yaz. I'm in my third month of taking it, and I think I've broken out (4-6 spots at the same time) twice, whereas before I was getting 4-6 new spots per day. No initial breakouts. Only had one cyst in nearly three months. The only side effect was my fault - I didn't wait until my period to start taking them and had breakthrough bleeding for around three weeks. I haven't experienced any weight gain, headaches, etc. If you're deciding whether to try the pill for your acne, just do it. Seriously. It's done wonders for my confidence and anxiety, and I can actually look people in the eye now!"

For Birth Control "I can't believe there are so many negative comments about Yaz... I started taking it a year ago due to my very painful periods (I would throw up, couldn't eat, or go to school and work, and popping large doses of painkillers). These pills, Yaz, literally changed my life. I used to have awful PMS, and I would get really depressed a week before my period. Everything is gone now. The terrible moods, cramps, everything. I feel great, actually, I've never felt better. Only bad thing is I gained 6 kg since I started taking it, and I'm really afraid of those blood clots everyone's talking about. I don't ever want to stop taking this pill, but I'm afraid I'll have to due to its well-known side effects. But for now, I enjoy my life with Yaz"

For Acne "I started taking the Yaz pill on Oct 1 of 2018 to treat my moderate cystic acne. While my skin has cleared up considerably, I do still experience the occasional 2-3 pimples a month. I experienced no side effects, none, from taking this. Maybe a small weight gain, about 10 lbs, but I attribute that to diet. I just thought I’d drop by and rate, as this site was extremely helpful to me when first starting out. Good luck, ladies."

For Birth Control "I’m finishing my third pack of Loryna. I’ve really struggled with giving my body the adequate time to adjust to it, but I can’t take the side effects anymore. I switched because the last few pills I tried did not clear up my hormonal acne. Loryna has helped clear up my skin, and my period is much lighter, both of which are nice. However, I also take Vyvanse for ADHD and narcolepsy, and I swear Loryna is messing with the effectiveness. I’m incredibly fatigued and sleepy all of the time now. I’m also experiencing awful headaches. I’m so depressed and anxious to where I can hardly recognize myself. My boobs have gone up a cup size, I’ve gained 11 pounds, and yes, I’m starving all the time. I have done intermittent fasting for the last two years and dropped 25 pounds, but rapidly gaining 11 pounds in under three months and struggling with my intermittent fasting, along with other side effects, is ruining my self-image and happiness."

For Acne "I've been on Yaz for about 3 months, and so far, it has been great. I've suffered from acne since I was 12 (I'm 30 now) to the extent that it's really had a negative effect on my life, but now it's almost all cleared up. I barely even need to wear makeup anymore. There has been no weight gain, except for slightly bigger breasts, and it's great knowing when my period is going to come. Previously, it would come randomly. It also doesn't last as long, now only 4 or 5 days when before it could be 7 or 8."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this birth control for about eight months, and I believe my acne is a lot clearer. It does make me quite emotional for no reason sometimes, and when I get my period, I get painful cramps, which I’ve never had before. I’ve also seemed to gain weight and dislike myself. But my boobs did go up a few sizes."

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "This is my second day on Yaz. I have been on countless other birth control methods such as Marvelon, Tri-Cyclen Lo, Demulen, and most recently, Aviane. When I was on Marvelon, I never noticed anything while I was taking the pills side effect-wise, but my periods were unbearably heavy. On Tri-Cyclen, my period was light, but it never stopped for three months! On Demulen, I went into a deep depression that I am still getting over. And finally, on Aviane, it was great, but I gained about 40 lbs in the past year. I went on Yaz to help keep me upbeat and happy (coupled with my daily dose of Prozac) and to hopefully help me shed some weight and give me comfortable and short periods. So far, so good. High libido and no negative side effects except slight headache."

For Acne "I’ve been on Yaz for almost 2 months now. I was hoping it would clear my skin up and help me with my cystic acne, but I’m not sure. I usually get pimples 2 weeks before my period, so obviously I broke out the 2 weeks beforehand. But before that, I felt like my skin was getting a little better. I definitely am still getting breakouts, though. I’m getting my period tomorrow, and I got a few more pimples coming in, as well as this one pimple on my chin that will NOT go away. I haven’t noticed any weight gain or depression, but my boobs definitely got bigger, lol. I’m gonna do another update after month 3. I hope it will finally kick in, but I guess we will see:/"

For Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder "After trying an IUD and two other pills, I was turned off by the idea of birth control because of how horribly depressed and moody the others made me feel. Gianvi has been totally different. I suffer from anxiety, acne, and PMDD. I have been taking Gianvi for about 4 months now. Emotionally, I feel the same as I did before, except my PMDD has improved drastically. It is not completely gone, but instead of feeling suicidally depressed for two weeks before my period, I just get a little down for only a few days, which is huge for me. I have always struggled with acne, and my skin has cleared up significantly since being on this pill. I still get pimples here and there, but nothing like before. Weight gain was a big concern of mine, but I am happy to report that I have not gained weight from this pill. And a bonus is that my boobs have gotten a bit bigger too! While Gianvi has not completely eradicated my acne or PMDD, I am so happy to have found a birth control pill that works well for me."

For Birth Control "Until I had to move back home from university because of COVID, I had been using Ocella, which had been alright for me. My boobs swelled, and it is possible I had weight gain, but I had just gotten off the IUD, which messed me up bad. But when I came home, nowhere had Ocella, so my pharmacy gave me Syeda. I have type 2 bipolar disorder mixed with anxiety symptoms, and taking Syeda for two weeks sent me spinning. My anxiety and hypomania have been awful, some of the worst I’ve had in a long time. It was not like this with Ocella, and I don’t know why the pharmacies in my hometown are not allowed to provide it, but I will not be taking Syeda again and would hesitate to recommend it to anyone."

For Birth Control "I’m 25 years old, and this is the first time I’ve been on birth control, and it’s been great! I’ve had no weight gain, no skin changes, and no mood changes. I honestly think this actually helped me quite a bit since I was pretty anxious and sad for a few months right before I started Loryna. I’ve been on it for 3 months now, it helped regulate my periods since I was always irregular. They’re also a lot less painful, super light, and only last 2-3 days. I’m so glad the first BC I chose worked well with my body. It was covered by my insurance through Pill Club, and I got a 9-month supply delivered to me!"

"I wasn’t able to get my usual birth control, so I used Yaz and had a terrible experience. I got bad anxiety and depression, headaches, nausea, moodiness, and I gained several pounds around my lower belly in a matter of weeks. I would not recommend this birth control."

For Birth Control "I would rate this above 10 if I could. This is the best birth control I have ever taken. I suffer from PMDD, and my time of the month without Yaz, I feel like I could hurt people for no reason at all, just because I didn't like the way they looked at me or whatever. Anyways, Yaz has helped that out so much. My husband is so happy with the results. I have had no weight gain, no cramping, and only 3-day periods with very little bleeding, and the best part is no irritability or major mood swings."

For Birth Control "The first month I took this was really rough. It made me feel like I was a zombie. I started it on the first day of my normal period in hopes of regulating it. This gave me a two-week period, but at least it was pretty light. At first, my skin broke out really, really bad, but has since started to clear up, and I do not get acne around my period like I used to. At the end of the pack, before the placebos, I got a very heavy period that got worse when I started the placebos. It was heavier than I had ever had and hurt a lot. But since starting the next pack, my skin has continued to clear up, no more spotting, not feeling like a zombie. Also, there has been no weight gain on this pill either. The first month of this is terrible, but stick with it, and it will start to get better!"

For Birth Control "I have been on birth control for over 5 years due to a BRCA diagnosis, and this is by far the absolute worst brand ever. My pharmacy started giving me a different generic of the one I was previously on, and it was the worst 4 months (insurance wouldn't cover another pack, and buying one was too expensive). I went from having almost no period symptoms on Lornya to being in bed for 4 days, puking, and the worst cycles since I first started having them. I gained 10 pounds in the first 2 months of the pack and was having mood swings all the time. Maybe it was because I switched brands, but this was miserable, and I hope other women can avoid it."

For Acne "I love Yaz! I was first put on it 2 years ago to help get rid of my acne, and within the first 3 months, my skin started clearing and have been acne-free since. It did make me put on a little bit of weight, but zero mood swings and no change to my sex drive. My periods have become a lot lighter and last shorter days (usually 3-4 days). I highly recommend this pill, but the only downside is you do have to take it every day."

For Birth Control "I'm 18 years old, and I started taking Yaz when I was 14 for the use of treating acne. It did not do much for my acne, so I began taking Accutane. I stayed on Yaz because you need to be on 2 forms of birth control when taking Accutane. My acne went away, and then I got a boyfriend, so I stayed on Yaz. I've been using Yaz for over 4 years in all of my teen years, and let me just say, this stuff is amazing for preventing pregnancy. The pills are a miracle. I didn't really gain weight on this product, I developed breasts rapidly! I've never taken any other types of birth control, but I give Yaz five stars. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "Never again. My pharmacy tried for years to randomly give me Syeda, even though I would repeatedly ask for Ocella. In January, the pharmacy tech insisted she give me two packs of BC, and it was Syeda. When I went back in March, I was given two more packs of Syeda. I didn't care to argue because this was around the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I figured they were stressed enough. After 4 months, however, I have had enough. I have gained weight from my increased appetite, I lost all motivation and enjoyment for things I once enjoyed, and I have been feeling more anxious. I don't care what a pharmacist says, generic doesn't mean the same."

For Birth Control "I was on this pill for around a year, and I can’t believe I put up with it for that long. My appetite would change constantly. Sometimes I would eat everything, and sometimes I couldn’t eat without feeling nauseous. I’ve tried this pill and Tricyclen, this one made me gain so much more weight. I was on both for around a year. Finally, the mood swings. I would cry every single day for no reason. Even if something inconvenient happened, I’d start crying. And I felt like I couldn’t control it. Out of nowhere, the tears would start falling. It made everyone around me annoyed. It helped my acne for a bit, but then I started getting a few pimples again after a while. I do not recommend this one!"

For Acne "I’ve been on Nikki for 6 1/2 months now. Don’t get discouraged if you read about someone having bad side effects after being on the pill for a week, give the pill time to adjust to your body first. I’ve always been acne-prone, but in Fall of 2020, I started getting severe cystic acne along my neck, jawline, and cheeks. The cysts on my neck were new, so I knew something was wrong internally and did some research and tried Nikki. I didn’t experience any nausea, mood swings, or weight gain :) The first 2 months, I saw no change in my skin. By the end of month 3, I started seeing improvements, and the cysts on my neck were gone. The amount I was breaking out was less, but I was nowhere near clear in month 3 like a lot of people reported. Now I’m 1 week into month 7 and I don’t have 1 bump on my face! I still don’t feel I can say I have CLEAR skin yet because I have a lot of work that needs to be done with scarring and hyperpigmentation, however, I feel healthier, and my face is smooth!"

For Birth Control "I've taken Yaz since 2006, and I had body issues. They switched to Gianvi, and still no issues. Now they switched to Nikki, and I've gained 10+ pounds in 2 months! I feel so bloated and crappy. I also have migraines. I've asked the pharmacy about it because I thought I was losing my mind and found out many others are having the same problem."

For Acne "I used to be on Diane for 4 years; my skin was clear, but I gained weight, which I didn't mind; then my OB prescribed Yaz for my cystic ovary. The first month I broke out; I had tiny pimples on my forehead and cheeks and cystic ones on my chin, which was really unpleasant to look at, especially with makeup on. I had to use makeup for work. I was reading reviews here almost every day just for inspiration, lol. I also started using Aztec Indian Healing Clay, which I think helped as well. I'm now on my 2nd week of my 2nd pack of Yaz, and my skin is clear! Hopefully, it stays like this for years. You just really have to wait for your hormones to adjust."
