Conjugated estrogens "Have been on hormones for 25 years. Mom died at 59, Dad at 55. I am 79, still play active tennis = weight training- golf and do not have the usual aches and pains. If you do not have any serious illness get on the hormones."

Conjugated estrogens "I have taken a small dosage of unopposed estrogen for about the past 30 years. I have only lost less than one inch of height, have pretty healthy hair, not yet grey, walk 1.5 miles about five days a week, sing and dance, drive my car, and am sexually active even though I am what is termed elderly. Best of all, I feel my bones are much denser and have more mass than they would have without the estrogen. Of course, a scientific comparison from bone density charts would show how true that may be. I have had breakthrough bleeding but try to have a sonogram and biopsy every year or so just to monitor for possible side effects on my uterus. Meanwhile, I feel cheerful, well-adjusted, physically/socially active, strong, and mentally alert even at this advanced age."

Conjugated estrogens "I started taking Premarin 1.25 mg when I lost my ovaries at the age of 28 to endometriosis. That was 33 years ago. My symptoms were lack of focus and energy. Within a week or two, I was back to my normal self with the exception of the mood swings I'd had ever since puberty. Several years ago, my GYN said there was an alert about Premarin and I would have to wean myself off of them. I went down to 1/4 of what I was taking within 7 months. I was taking large doses of ibuprofen for over 25 years for inflammation in my back. When the Premarin was decreased and the ibuprofen was taken down, I developed extreme arthritic swelling in some of my joints. I was put back on the Premarin immediately and told to never get off."

Conjugated estrogens "My doctor retired, and his replacement stopped five of my drugs (all now prescribed by specialists). However, Premarin was stopped for one and a half months. Two weeks later, forty hot flashes a day began. I felt like I was going to die. Finally, an endocrinologist re-prescribed Premarin but only half the dose I had taken for thirty-two years (since forty). Hot flashes are still outrageous. All my sisters have osteoporosis, but not me (I took HRT). In the time it was stopped, I lost weight, lost one inch in height, about twenty percent of my hair, and I'm so tempted to order it online without a prescription so I can take the other half of my regular dose. Desperate people do desperate things."

Conjugated estrogens "I have been taking Premarin for 20+ years. It has been the best thing I could have done. I have experienced no side effects, and on stopping for a month, I was so depressed and ill that I resumed taking it again."

"I needed a hysterectomy at age 29. I have been on Premarin for 22 years. I had my first bone density scan at age 33. Today, there has been very little change in my bone density levels. I enjoy weight training and my 8 grandchildren! I am a perfect candidate for Premarin. I have never smoked. With the exception of fish, I am a vegetarian. I take vitamin D and a multivitamin. For me, Premarin was a lifesaver."
