For Bone infection "I had a wisdom tooth pulled, but they did not send me home with antibiotics. Two days later, I broke a tooth and had to go back to get two more pulled. Still no antibiotics. By then, my wisdom tooth site should have been on the up, however, I noticed gunk inside it and immense amounts of pain. I called my dentist and asked for something other than pain. I received clindamycin 300 mg, 4 times a day. It took about 48 hours to notice, but it began to work. I've almost completed the course and have had only one side effect, the taste in my mouth. I take the pill with lots of water and then have a snack pack of pudding or jello. I took it once before this and had the worst heartburn. I advise eating with it. It has been much better this go-around."

For Bacterial Infection "Horrible taste, heartburn first time in life, abdominal pain like a knife twisting, hopefully infection is going away... still taking 150 mg every 6 hrs. Halfway through... would never take again... had infection in molar and a half-ass dentist."

For Bacterial Infection "Took prescribed dosage of 1200 mg x 10 days. I felt I was being overdosed because I ended up in the hospital in the past from OD. Dr. diagnosed me with strep. No culture taken. It's been 3 weeks after. A knee got tendinitis, and now both Achilles heels have knots, and I can barely stand or walk. Horrible taste while taking Med. Loss of appetite. Nervousness. Mouth sores are back. Can't work."

For Surgical Prophylaxis "Wow. I don’t know if this medication would have worked or not for my root canal. I was on it for a day and a half and had to stop because of the horrible taste in my mouth night and day, no matter what else I ate, how often I brushed, or how often I used a mouth rinse. It was horrible! Bad enough that I tossed and turned all night with the horrible taste in my mouth. So, so bad. I will never take this again."

For Bacterial Infection "Only take med if must! Bad side effects, but it cures you. I had pain in the vaginal area and I healed within a few hours of itchy and burning, however, the worst nausea and pain everywhere, weakness bad! I have a movie tonight and I'm not going to not go! Oh, p.s. it causes a horrid taste in your mouth and dry mouth!"

For Intraabdominal Infection "I started triple therapy of clindamycin, amoxicillin, and a PPI 3 days ago for H. pylori infection. I've been on a PPI and amoxicillin before with no side effects, but not clindamycin. It's a big dose: 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. The first 3 doses were awful. Disgusting taste in my mouth and terrible nausea with a gnawing, rumbly feeling in my stomach. After I read some advice on this page, I tried drinking more water: half a pint before the dose, then after. Plus a daily probiotic drink. I also didn't lie flat after dosage for an hour. This has made a huge difference. Still a bit of a taste, but no nausea and a better sleep. Still 4 days to go, but fingers crossed as the H. pylori had been causing pain. Definitely good advice."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "It reversed my staph infection, but my taste for all food has been really affected. After I eat, I am left with a really awful taste in my mouth. I took this antibiotic for a week at a dosage of 1200 mg a day."

For Bacterial Infection "Couple more things to add. When you wake up, you'll have a nasty taste in your mouth. Also, the capsule itself tastes horrible once it hits your tongue, so make sure you're ready with that water."

"The medication seems to be working okay, the only thing is that the clindamycin leaves such a bad taste in my mouth."

For Bacteremia "I was prescribed this drug after a severe bacterial infection was detected in my blood. The symptoms quickly went away as soon as I started taking the capsules. However, I am still having diarrhea-which wasn't there previously-two weeks after completing my dose. The thing is, this diarrhea is preceded by a gut-wrenching pain that feels like air is being forcefully blown through my entrails. Plus, I have some funny taste in my mouth that has forced me to keep and chew candy 24/7. All in all, it is a good drug if it treats that which caused the doc to prescribe it in the first place. Just be prepared to handle the side effects for a while."
