For Alcohol Withdrawal "Our family doctor prescribed this for my husband. He had tried to detox before with Klonopin, and that just made him out of it... almost as if he was still drinking... couldn't drive, work, help with the kids, etc. He tried going cold turkey, and that made him run back to the drink when the shakes and pain came back, but with Librium, he was able to still function and go to work. He is now taking this along with Campral. If you can afford it, the two work well together. (I think it is unfortunate that many doctors are not familiar with Campral, and it is very expensive without insurance). Great for 'at home' detox when you can't go to the hospital."

Chlordiazepoxide for Alcohol Withdrawal "I was in the ER for alcohol poisoning. Level of 400. I was given 25 milligrams of Librium. 1 to 2 pills every 6 hours. I was still very sick with shakes and major sweats even after 3 days. Don't understand how these people say that the withdrawal was gone. Even on the med, I laid in bed for 4 days sick as a dog. It has kept me from having seizures, but I've suffered horribly."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Went to the ER today because it's my second time in a week to get incredibly bad shakes. My heart rate went up so freaking high, and it really feels like you're gonna die. I called an ambulance and parked my car in some random parking lot. It was embarrassing, and I was disappointed in myself, but the doctor gave me 2 of the 25 mg Librium and gave me a prescription for 5 days. I'm still on day one, need 1 more pill and day 2 starts tomorrow. Go ask for help, you don't have to do it alone. I'm excited to be done with the pills and to have a sober life. I'm so happy I could cry. I feel sleepy, but I'll take that over death."

Chlordiazepoxide for Alcohol Withdrawal "Librium did nothing for my alcohol withdrawal. I was sent home with it after being given Ativan in the hospital, and let me tell you, it literally did nothing to help my shakes and my tense body. It may work for some, but didn’t for me."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Chlordiazepoxide, I have 10 mg with me now. I'm a little scared to take them, but I am shaking, and my heart is beating fast."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Saved my life. Was minutes from committing suicide. It allowed me to come off the drug alcohol and be sane. My children will be better for it for me. Cold sweats, shakes, insomnia. Suicidal thoughts. Or Librium. And family support."
