For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've always 'eaten my emotions' and as a result, have been overweight for most of my life. Contrave has eliminated my desire to eat because I was bored, lonely, angry, etc. Now I eat when I'm hungry. I've been intermittent fasting for 6 months and have lost over 40 pounds. I believe Contrave is 99% responsible for me being able to stick to my plan. The side effects I've had are that I felt stoned when I took the pills the first month, and now I have to deal with some mild constipation."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Contrave and am on my second week of full doses. I was lucky enough to not experience any side effects, which I was worried about. I find drinking lots of water helps with side effects and the constipation. I am 52 years old, started at 277 lbs, 5'9 and am menopausal. Before taking it, I was eating fairly healthy and exercising moderately and have been unable to lose weight for years. Since I began taking it, I am down to 265 lbs, feel more energy, and hopeful for the first time in a long time. I eat significantly smaller portions and stop eating as soon as I am full. I have less cravings, but do eat a small treat now and then, but overall I am eating more healthy. I do find junk food or greasy food makes me nauseated, which is a good deterrent! I will keep taking it and hope that the weight continues to slowly come off and that this review may help others too! Slow and steady wins the race!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "60 yr old female, 195 lbs. I'm just starting into my 4th week, which will now be full dose. First 2 weeks were really rough with side effects, and I considered stopping, but after seeing all of the positive reviews here, I decided to keep on going. The only benefit that I have experienced so far is my complete aversion to cigarettes and coffee. I wasn't planning on that happening, so I guess that's good. I have not experienced ANY decreased appetite, which is extremely discouraging. I am very bummed out about this, but I will definitely finish the bottle and hope now that I am starting full dose that it will kick in for me. The only side effects that I have at this point are occasional dry mouth. I will update later if I experience any changes. :("

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "63 years old, 5'1" and starting weight 195 lbs. Although it's only been a week and a half since I've started, I've noticed results immediately. I get full much faster. I'd say I'm eating about 50% less than I was before I started. So far I've lost 5 lbs, which is encouraging and makes me want to keep going and walk more each day! Walking is the only form of exercise I do! I've had zero side effects. Since I'm in week 2, I'm taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night! I'll update more after I'm further along!"

"I’m on my third week now, and I’ve lost 10 pounds. It really keeps my urge away from snacking. I really don’t have any appetite. I exercise and eat protein bars and lots of chicken for dinner. I haven’t been eating any bread either. I don’t know where the weight is going, cause I still have a belly, but my pants seem to be falling down. I think maybe I’m just losing my butt. What’s also amazing about this medication is that I feel great every morning I wake up. I haven’t had that feeling in a long time. The only issues I am having are constipation, probably cause of the protein I’ve been eating. I do recommend this medication. It worked for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm menopausal and struggling to lose weight, even though I'm moderately active, watch what I eat, and limit alcohol. About 8 kg overweight and my cholesterol was up. Doc gave me Contrave. I am now on week 3 and just upped my dose to 2 tabs am and 1 pm. I make sure I have food before I take the tabs, and I experience no nausea. I do, however, sweat profusely (more than before), find it hard to sleep, and am currently experiencing a bout of vertigo. I make sure to eat 2 kiwis a day to combat any constipation, works a treat. No headaches, dry mouth, or suicidal thoughts. My doc has insisted on my blood pressure being taken once a week for 4 weeks. All is fine so far. I did think about stopping because of the side effects I'm experiencing, but I will carry on and see if they level out and hopefully disappear after I'm on full dose. No weight loss so far, but definite change in my eating and drinking habits. Look forward to seeing how and if it works for me... fingers crossed."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Works really well for me. Slow, steady weight loss totaling 30 lbs so far, from 225 last July to about 195 today in April. I do exercise moderately, but more importantly, the food cravings at all hours of the day are gone. Less food and calorie input means weight loss for me. Also, very acceptable to me is the side effect of a very dry mouth much of the day, so I now drink lots of water."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started taking Contrave 7 days ago. Took the 1st dose at 11 am. Felt dizzy and tired. Now I take it at bedtime, and I have no side effects. I have been on Wellbutrin before and tolerated it well, so I guess I had a head start. It seems to be curbing my appetite and my wine urges! Lol So far, so good."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This medication has worked so well for me. Eight weeks in and I’ve lost around 9 kg. I’ve increased my exercise and not touched junk food. No side effects. And I’m not on the maximum dose. Once you see and feel the weight coming off, it motivates you to really watch what you eat. I’ve realized that we really don’t need that much to eat to remain healthy. I was eating way too much. It will be interesting to see whether I can maintain a healthy weight once I taper off the medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on it for over 6 months, and the only real weight loss I had was the first two weeks because I was very nauseous. Maybe a lb or two a month, but nothing really."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been taking Contrave for 8 months and have dropped 38 lbs. I definitely have some side effects. The worst is perpetual constipation. I also have tremors in both hands. I’ve had episodes of light-headedness. No nausea. BUT… My craving for food (especially unhealthy foods) disappeared. I eat half of what I used to eat. Full disclosure: I have exercised very little since starting Contrave. I’m sure that I would have lost 50 lbs by now if I was doing a little something every day. My bad, for sure. I also feel that the drug isn’t as effective as it was in the first 6 months. I asked my MD if a higher dose would help, and she explained that the benefits of Contrave do not increase with a higher dosage. All that said, I am very grateful that I dropped quite a few pounds! I was struggling for so long and was always discouraged. This was a huge boost for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking Contrave for about 6 months, I am about to start my 3rd bottle. I was suggested this medication by my nurse practitioner when my insurance wouldn't cover weight loss injections. My starting weight was 215 at 5'4. I never understood why I struggled so badly with my weight, I really didn't eat that much, I thought. I was wrong, and this medication made me see what I had been so blind to for 30 years: I was obsessed with food. I still have food noise, but it's not as loud, and I can let it pass. In the past, if I had to run an errand, before I left, I was checking out what restaurants were nearby, seeing who had the most amount of food for the least amount of money. Traveling to a new place, checking out who has the best hamburger, etc. On this medication, I am not getting pleasure from eating, it is just a thing I have to do because I get hungry sometimes. It's not a hobby. I've lost 30 lbs. I can't take more than 2 a day, or I feel suicidal though."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Love this weight loss tablet! I have lost 15 kg in 5 months. I have had very little side effects, being dry mouth. I can sleep and function on these tablets. I feel so much more confident, I'm getting great comments from people telling me how amazing I look, even asking me what my secret is! I started at 95.9 kg, now at 80.4 kg. Makes me feel fuller and definitely eat less."

"I'm not a big eater, but I drink too much wine. My doctor put me on it to help stop drinking so much. I also wanted to lose some weight. It has helped with the wine. It makes it taste weird. I have only lost one pound. So not happy about no weight loss."

"I took Contrave for 2 months, one pill per day. For me, the medication was excellent. It helped with cravings, and I had feelings of fullness. I would snack and eat all day prior to taking it, particularly at night, and this pill really helped. Without cravings and obsessing over food, I exercised 3-4 times a week and ate what I wanted (healthy mostly). It's recommended not to take the pill with high-fat food. I still ate fatty food sometimes and still lost the weight as I ate less than what I used to eat. I lost 15 lbs in 2 months, from 156 lbs to 136 lbs with no side effects. I stopped taking it for 3 months, and cravings returned. I'm now taking it daily, and it's helping again. Medical covered it, but without coverage it's expensive."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been taking Contrave since October 24 because I had 16 lbs to lose for the past year and couldn’t get the weight off because of cravings for everything and anything. When I started, I expected it to miraculously make me not hungry and lose weight right away like I read in some of the reviews. I stuck with it and took it as prescribed, still, very little was coming off. I did put in a little more exercising and drank more water, but still only losing 0.6 or 0.8 lbs a week. I stubbornly would not give in and continued, then it happened, I didn’t crave junk food anymore and I ate only until I was satisfied, not stuffed like I used to do. Then I started to lose a pound a week. This might not sound like much from reading the other reviews, but it was amazing to me because my cravings were gone, plus, I can’t stand eating anything sweet. It made me nauseous, so for me, that was wonderful. Once I started taking 4 pills, the weight has been coming off. Lost 13 lbs, so grateful."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "WOW! Just wow! My BMI is 37.9. Constantly out of breath and overall unhealthy. Did a lot of research and found Contrave to be a good fit for me. I can't believe how good I feel in only 7 days of taking Contrave. My breathing is better, I have way more energy, and I am so proud of myself for sticking with it. Yes, I feel not really dizzy but more vertigo-like sensations, but I went from taking Paroxetine for years and simply stopped one day and started Contrave the next day. The doctor advised against it due to bad withdrawal symptoms from Paroxetine but said it was safe as long as I could tolerate the side effects. (I was too excited to start Contrave right away.) I'll be honest, going through the withdrawal and starting a new medication has made me very emotional. I would recommend tapering off other medications first. I have really enjoyed reporting to RxFood and learning just how unhealthy I eat! I have lost 4 lbs in 7 days! Happy, happy! I would recommend Contrave to anyone any day!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Love it! Totally took away obsessive food thoughts, I no longer feel excited about all foods I used to pig out on and can easily pass by them in the store without a compulsion to buy or eat them. The pleasure centers are calm and do not respond to food as if it were a hard drug - food addiction is under control now. I also feel full much sooner and by smaller volumes of food, albeit it is not a formal indication. I am a fan, what can I say? The only side effects that I am experiencing are constipation and, if I happen to take it after 5 pm, I end up not being able to fall asleep until midnight, which is a bummer for me because I am an early riser. Watching that I take it before 5 pm solves the latter issue. I am still figuring out how to manage constipation without drugs. Despite these, I absolutely love how Contrave manages my compulsive eating and oversized portions."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been using Contrave for 8 weeks. I started at 285 lb and I am down to 244 lb as of today. I've gone from pant size 48 to 42. I changed the doses, I started with 1 pill per day for 3 weeks, then changed to 2 pills in the morning and 2 pills at night. Beware, it does have side effects. The first 3 weeks, I felt a little dizzy at first, but now all side effects are gone."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "So I started Contrave on March 2nd, and today it is June 8th. I have gone from 250 lbs to 210 lbs. Contrave gave me more energy and less of an appetite. I walked on a treadmill at an average of 3.2 for 45 min, 5 days a week, so I am very happy with the results."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Absolutely love this medication. I've had zero side effects during my first week, taking 1 pill. My evening cravings have totally disappeared. I typically had no control with late-night eating and was out of control, and taking this medication is like flipping a switch off in my brain — I have no urge to eat late anymore. Exactly what I was hoping for! I waited till 3 pm to take in week 1, so it wasn't the first thing in the morning. I also drink a ton of water before taking and after. Again, zero side effects. I feel bad for all the reviewers that had unpleasant results, and frankly, I was afraid to try, but so glad I did. Also, gives you a ton of energy. I feel great. Hoping week 2 and adding another pill to the routine has the same positive effects."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Contrave has been a huge success for me. I've always been an emotional eater and could not turn down cravings. It was significantly worse after pregnancy. I started at 193 in June 2023, and I am down to 140 as of February 2024. I'm full with small meals and do not experience intense cravings anymore. I still enjoy my favorite foods, but I'm satisfied with a much smaller portion. I did experience pretty intense nausea for about 2 weeks when I started. It went away by the time I was at a full dose."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Contrave on September 2 and am down 29 lbs in 4 months. Start weight was 192 and am now 163. My goal was at least 25 lbs and now I have decided to try getting to 35 lbs. I wish I would have taken measurements prior to starting because I am now down 2-3 pant sizes. I cannot begin to say how happy I am with the medication. Yes, I will not lie - the first week or so were brutal. The day I took my first pill, I threw up 3 hours later. 'Foggy-headed' for several days, intense headaches on and off for the first two weeks. On day 3, I was questioning if I could even continue, but I convinced myself these effects were temporary and I needed to push through! I did have some crazy dreams the first few weeks. All of that subsided several weeks in and I could not be happier. I would recommend this to anyone struggling with weight. I now have FOUR coworkers taking it. Two started and two will be receiving their medication in the next few days. Best of luck to all!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Contrave for 2 months. I did not feel anything until I got to the max dose. After that, I went through nausea every day for month 2. I am at the end of month 2, and the nausea subsided, but I am very constipated. I have lost 9 pounds so far. I do not follow any food restrictions, but I only eat once a day and watch the portions. It really takes my appetite away and makes me get full faster. This is a great medicine if you can get through the side effects. I highly recommend it."
