"Helped immediately to reduce the number of diarrhea episodes per day. Started at 3 caps (3 mg) per day and felt like developing constipation, so lowered to 1 per day until BM. Then upped the dose to 3 caps per day again and experienced severe leg and foot muscle cramps during the night, so lowered the dosage to 2 caps per day, with good success and no side effects."

"I have been prescribed budesonide as a help to contain inflammation in my lower GI. It worked almost immediately on my pain, so I was given a second 90-day supply. Now I am experiencing a lot of bruising on my legs and extreme dryness in my nose. I will tell my GI doctor, but pain management in my stomach area is worth it."

"I am newly diagnosed with collagenous colitis. Prescribed budesonide for two weeks, then off for two weeks, symptoms came back. Now on medication for another two weeks, works great. I'm to let the doctor know before two weeks is up how it went. A guessing game with this colon dysfunction. Question: how is it for long-term maintenance? A blessing of relief!"

"Of all the drugs I’ve tried for my condition, budesonide is the only one that actually works. It works right away. I started 3/d for 30d, then 2/d for 30d, lastly 1/d for 30 days. I was able to maintain a normal condition for about 6-8 months with selected supplements before having to repeat the budesonide."

"Taken this 3 times over the course of 3 years, as well as Entocort and Prednisolone, each one for several months. I found this does work for the first week or two, but then gets less effective, and my symptoms come back with a vengeance after that time. Also noticed that on all 3, my levels continued to rise in stool tests, despite colonoscopy showing nothing visual, so I would say it can work but not in all cases. Side effects of the first two drugs were a weakened immune system, tiredness, and headaches in the later cycles."

"I have been on this drug for 3 months. Went through a regimen and weaned off. Began to have diarrhea immediately. Went back on one budesonide 3 mg pill. I have no appetite, have weakness, and nausea. Going to get off this pill and see if I can get to feeling better. I don’t think you are supposed to stay on this steroid."

"While the drug has helped with my years of chronic diarrhea, the side effects of extreme joint pain, hair loss, dry mouth, sleeplessness, and loss of appetite have become too much, and I will stop taking this medication to search for something else. My dosage was three 3 mg tablets a day, but I have reduced my intake to one capsule every six or so days."
