Praluent (alirocumab) "I am a 56-year-old man with familial hypercholesterolemia. I had an MI of my LADCA at 46 and have had several stents and three Coronary Arterial grafts. Despite over 10 years of 80 mg Atorvastatin daily, my LDLs were not lowering sufficiently even with a low cholesterol diet. I have been taking Praluent for 5 months now, and the reactions are worsening with every dose. I am at work now typing this. I initially looked at the side effects 3-4 hours after my initial dose as my muscles were twitching and crampy. Now I'm looking for verification of the severe Musculoskeletal pain, and arthritis-like symptoms in my hands. I generally experience 3-4 days of feeling terrible when I take my dose, but the severity of the symptoms over that time has increased noticeably. I am lethargic and weak as well as the above symptoms. I have an appointment with my PCP tomorrow and will definitely be discussing this with him even though it was prescribed by my Cardiologist."

Praluent (alirocumab) "Praluent has drastically reduced my LDL. I have been taking it for several years. I have had no side effects. This is the first drug that has reduced my LDL so much. I still take 40mg. daily of rosuvastatin."

Praluent (alirocumab) "I started using Praluent about a year ago. I was on statins for years (due to Familial high cholesterol) before they started giving me bad muscle pain and I had a hive reaction to Repatha. I am a 62 year old female 5' 7" 155 lbs, fairly active with yard work and walk daily. I eat mostly healthy. Praluent has given me very good results and I have not had any side affects other than a little soreness at the injection site that goes away in a couple hours. I was surprised at all the negative reviews, but I think people are more prone to write reviews when things don't go well as opposed to when things go well. Praluent has been a good solution for me so far and I still try to do my part with diet and exercise."

"I have high familiarity cholesterol with high LPA genetic gene. I am unable to take statins due to severe side effects; my cardiologist suggested alirocumab. My first injection was on 4/23 and since then my life has been turned upside down. I have in and out of the doctors office due to severe constipation with stomach pain; blood particles found in my stomach; body aches and pains; severe nausea and throwing up; acid reflux; diarrhea; brain fog including fainting. This was all after one dose of alirocumab I caution anyone considering this drug to do your own research. Unfortunately; in my opinion the doctors who prescribe this drug do not know enough it or how bad it’s side effects can be."

Praluent (alirocumab) "I am 66 years old and in good health and physically active. My LDL has decreased from 188 to 75 after 4 doses of 75 mg each time. I have had some muscle aches that are minor after the shot -for about 4 days. I tried Repatha and had horrible side effects I asked my doctor if I could try the lower dose of Praluent and so far it’s worked out."
