Acyclovir topical for Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I got HSV-1 in 2008 from cheating on my now ex-wife. It was never a problem until a breakout in 2010. I never went on antivirals until this breakout, and I now know why this was so bad. In the summer of 2010, I had neck surgery and had 4 fusions from C4-C7, and after reviewing this, the virus lies dormant in the base of the neck in a nerve area called the ganglion. If you have HSV-2 (genital) herpes, it lies dormant in the lower back. So, my first breakout 6 months ago, in June 2011, gave me the worst ever, making not only a cold sore but fever blister clusters on the top and middle lip. Been on acyclovir since July 400 mg twice daily. Still barely helped. 3 days ago, got Zovirax cream, and after 6 months, it's finally gone. This works awesome."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "The cold sores usually don't even appear if I apply the cream at the first signs of tingling. Once, I failed to catch the tingly symptoms at the start and only realized when my lips began to harden and split. I rushed to the pharmacy to purchase Zovirax, and I managed to dodge the embarrassing process of allowing the cold sore to fully blister and crust. I bet no one even suspected I had cold sores. I don't know why everyone is comparing prices here, but it costs approximately USD $15 for a 2g tube where I come from. Just apply a little will do, I'm not sure why someone mentioned finishing the 2g tube within 3 days. It can last me two years before it expires. Read the directions that it comes with."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "Zovirax works great on cold sores. I use it at the first sign for a few days, and it doesn't even blister. If I get a blister, it doesn't get big and dries up in 2 to 3 days. Abreva never worked for me. This stuff is great."

Acyclovir topical for Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I have had a spot come up twice in 14 years on my index finger. Index finger on the right hand, infected when worked as a dental assistant on patients. This time they prescribed this cream, and I noticed a great change. You never know what you're exposed to in the medical/dental field. Gloves still tear. But luckily, there are meds to help. This product has lessened the swelling and throbbing."

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I use the generic brand by Mylan. This product is amazing. Even if you have a bad outbreak, it cuts the healing time by a few days. That may seem minimal to some, but for those who suffer from cold sores, this is superb. If you apply it during the first signs, you will not even have an outbreak."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "I used this in the UK. £7 for a tiny tube. Which would have been worth it if it had worked. It advised to use 'liberally' on the affected area, which I did. The cold sore was one of the ones that's on the edge of your lip and into the inner part inside your mouth. The cream kept sticking to my upper lip. When I went to brush my teeth that night, my gums were bright red, really painful, and bleeding. I rinsed my mouth with lots of water and wiped off the Zovirax, and that calmed things down a bit. If that wasn't bad enough, my cold sore is now far worse. I would advise: don't use this product. 0/10."

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I 100% recommend this acyclovir prescription/treatment to anyone suffering from herpes! I was diagnosed with herpes simplex 1 and have used Abreva, Valtrex, and have tried random home remedies that people have sworn by. Abreva, after maybe day 7, started to work, Valtrex, after close to a week, began to work, the home remedies did not work at all!!! All in all, the effectiveness of what I've tried prior to acyclovir did not impress me as much as this prescription has. I was a day into my outbreak, my lip was already swollen and bubbled. That one day in, I started the cream and the next day, it had gone down 80%. It was already scabbed over and no longer pulsating! This has definitely been a blessing to me, as I am very skeptical at times when it comes to medications that claim to be close to 100% effective!"

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "I hate Herpes/Cold sores (I guess it's the same). I had trouble with it for many years. I always scratched it, or accidentally damaged it with my teeth. I always freaked out when I felt that tingling on my mouth, then I saw the herpes. About a year ago, I found this Godsent cream, and man, it's awesome. It penetrated the herpes in like 3 days. That was a year ago. Now, about 2 days ago, I noticed that I would have a herpes (it hurt and was ready to be visible, so it was in an early stage), so I quickly bought one, and just one and a half days later, BOOM it's gone. It hasn't even popped, and it was really ugly in the morning. I use it every 3 hours and man, this is a lifesaver. It's completely gone. I recommend this epic cream, it will save SO much time. Where I live, it's really affordable (in USD like 5-6$). I guess if you are allergic, you can't use it well, but if you don't (like me), this will kill herpes in 2 days. Totally awesome!"

For Cold Sores "Everyone is saying how expensive it is: $250, etc. Why don't you buy a UK version and have it delivered to the USA? Here in the UK online, you can buy Zovirax (active ingredient 5% acyclovir) for like £5.00, which will be like $7.50."

For Cold Sores "I always get cold sores. I tried everything, and nothing worked better than this. And the cold sores don't come as frequently after using Zovirax. Gone within 2-3 days if you catch it while it's tingling, it wouldn't show at all."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "I have used Abreva in the past with no luck. I started using Zovirax on day 3 of my outbreak, so a blister had already formed. This stuff is great! It stopped my cold sore from getting worse and started healing it right away. Now that I have it, I'm hopeful it will work even better if used right away at the first sign. My only complaint is that this stuff is EXPENSIVE. Without insurance, it's $700 for a 30g tube. With insurance, it was still $171. Honestly, it's been worth every penny."

For Cold Sores "I find that Zovirax doesn't prevent the cold sore from appearing (even if applied at the tingly stage). But what I do find is that once the cold sore appears, it's very small compared to not using it. I supplement the treatment with lysine tablets, and it keeps the blister/scab very small (about 2 mm in diameter as opposed to 5-6 mm) and is usually gone within two to three days rather than 1-1.5 weeks."

"This medication helps the breakout a lot, makes it smaller, less noticeable. One thing I have noticed though, is when the first lesion is on its scabbing stage, I get little, tiny blisters around or near the first site. Feels like I am starting to get more cold sores. They never seem to go deep or actually scab up. But still, it's annoying when you think your cold sore is going away, then you start feeling more tingles. Just my feedback."

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "This is a godsend. I was reluctant to pay the $400 since my insurance only covered the pills and not the ointment, but I'm really glad I did. My sore was looking very sinister and just kept growing until I put acyclovir cream on it. It dried up overnight and is basically a scab now. It would normally take my sores weeks to go away completely, but from the looks of it now, I think this will be gone in a few days. Totally worth the price for me because my work is very much dependent on my face. I was worried I wouldn't be able to work for a few weeks, but it looks like I'll be back by Monday. (It's Thursday morning now. The sore started on Tuesday afternoon, and I put the ointment on Wednesday morning.)"

For Cold Sores "From 6 yrs to 25 yrs, I had a lot of cold sores, 25 yrs to 60 yrs, hardly any, 60 yrs to 79 yrs, they are more frequent. I wouldn't have suffered so much if I had Acyclovir Ointment. Applied when first noticed, and the cold sores just went away."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "Best cold sore cream I've used. Suffer from cold sores frequently, and no other treatment has really worked. This, however, eases pain and stops spread and growth in just a few days. As well as this, it's so cheap, only a few quid. Would highly recommend it."

For Cold Sores "Works every time if you get it at the first signs of a cold sore. For U.S. cold sore sufferers who can make it to Mexico, you can get it over the counter under a generic brand for 65 pesos at any supermarket with a pharmacy - that is about $3 USD."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "Would highly recommend giving this a go. Was diagnosed with HSV-1 cold sores last year, and this has by far been my best experience. Had a cold sore first appear yesterday and has pretty much already cleared up after using this Zovirax Duo a few times over the course of 24 hours. Love this stuff!"

For Cold Sores "I was prescribed Acyclovir ointment 5%. First of all, the tube was tiny and cost me $113.00. Secondly, this cream did not work on my cold sore. I followed the instructions and used it every 3 hours. I am on day 8 of 10, and my cold sore is still there and does not look like it is healing. Don't waste your money. Use Abreva instead."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "I am 21 years old and just suffered from my first major breakout of cold sores in my life. It was pretty bad, and I was frustrated from the unsightly sores appearing on my lips and mouth. I also had an outbreak just below my eye in the sensitive skin. I went to the doctor, and she prescribed me Zovirax cream, and I saw a lessened appearance in the worst of the cold sores on my lip in less than 24 hours. While it takes time for them to heal, I definitely think this is a worthwhile drug. It cost me $45, so it's not super cheap, but it really alleviated some of my symptoms. I had another cold sore forming on my lip just below the bad one, and it stopped that one dead in its tracks, and I already see it healing and not blistering. Worth it!"

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "Not so much the effect but the affect of opening this packaging? I could not believe my eyes at the size of the 2g tube? Absolutely shocking to say the least and for £5. Once I pierced it open, I could then turn the tube at least 3 times before the cream appeared. I'm sure this is a great product? But will there be enough to get rid of my problem?"

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "I love Zovirax, I prefer the pump tube to the metal tube as I feel it's more hygienic. However, I have recently been trying Zovirax Duo, which is a few dollars more than the regular cream, but it's amazing. The day after noticing a cold sore, the swelling is already very reduced and scabbing forms. I find the cold sore heals so much faster with the Duo cream."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "Okay, so I always had cold sores all my life. One advice: don't use Zovirax. It spreads, and it leaves a nasty scar, which takes ages to heal. Use ordinary Vaseline to keep it moist, but only apply a small amount. Too much moisture can also cause the cold sore to worsen. Aqueous worked for me."

Acyclovir topical for Cold Sores "I'm from the UK, and Zovirax cost £6, which is probably $9 for a small tube. It's rubbish. Felt a tingle, so went straight to the shop and bought Zovirax. Been applying it every 4-5 hours. Three days later, the cold sore has blistered at the side of my mouth. Would have been better using TCP. It burns a bit, but it does the job."
