Sulfa-Q Indications

Coccidiostatic as an aid in the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in chickens and turkeys. Sulfa-Q is used in the prevention of coccidiosis and also protects the non-affected chickens and turkeys in hen-houses showing clinical signs of coccidiosis.

Dosage and Administration

To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently and for the shortest duration required to achieve the desired clinical outcome.

Prevention: When birds are moved to an area where they will be more susceptible to contact with the disease, mix 30 mL of Sulfa-Q with 20 L of drinking water. Give this medication for 2 consecutive days, then stop treatment for 3 days. If necessary, repeat the treatment until all dangers of infection are gone.

Treatment: When clinical signs of coccidiosis are first observed, mix 30 mL of Sulfa-Q with 20 L of drinking water and give to birds for 2 consecutive days; then for the next three days give water without medication. Continue this treatment for 2 days out of 5 and repeat until all clinical signs of the disease have disappeared. During the treatment, medicated water should be the only source of drinking water.

For automatic proportioner: Set the apparatus to distribute 30 mL of stock solution per 4 L of drinking water (1 oz/U.S. gallon). Prepare a stock solution by adding 1 L of Sulfa-Q to 4 L of water. This will medicate approximately 666 L of drinking water. Mix thoroughly.

Prepare fresh solutions daily.
