AviPro Vibursa CE

This treatment applies to the following species:
Manufacturer: L.A.H.I.

Recommendations for use: This product is a live virus vaccine containing a chicken embryo propagated bursal disease virus and recommended as an aid in the prevention of infectious bursal (Gumboro) disease in chickens. When administered to susceptible chickens, the vaccine stimulates immunity. It is recommended for administration by the drinking water route.

Indications for use: In chicks with no detectable maternal antibodies one vaccination at 10 days of age is recommended. In chicks with maternal antibodies 2 vaccinations are recommended, one at 10-14 days of age and the second at 2-3 weeks after the first vaccination. Check with your poultry pathologist before vaccinating chickens suspected of having been recently exposed to infectious bursal disease.

Preparation of vaccine for drinking water use - 2500, 10 000, 15 000 doses: Remove the aluminum overseal and stopper and add clean non-sanitized water. Replace the stopper and shake well. Pour the contents into a container of non-sanitized water. Shake well and dilute the vaccine as outlined in the chart below. A dried skim milk powder should be used as a vaccine stabilizer at the rate of 2.1 grams per liter of water. The powdered milk is added prior to the reconstitution of the vaccine.

Method of vaccination: Withhold all medication and disinfectants from the drinking water 24 hours before and 24 hours after vaccination. Rinse waterers with clean non-sanitized water and remove all water from chicks for at least two hours prior to vaccination. Provide adequate space so that at least two-thirds of the birds can drink at one time.

Add mixture to water as per the following chart:

Age of Birds

Amount of water per 1000 doses

Meat Type Birds

Layer Type Birds

10 days - 3 weeks

4 weeks - 8 weeks

Divide the mixed vaccine into the waterers.

Provide no other drinking water until all vaccine has been consumed.

Recommended use shall be restricted to premises having a history of the disease. All susceptible chickens on any farm should be vaccinated at the same time. If this is not possible, individual lots may be vaccinated if strict isolation and caretakers are provided for the vaccinated and unvaccinated lots of chickens. Care should be taken to avoid contaminating your hands, eyes and clothing with the vaccine. It is imperative that the user of this product comply with the “Indications For Use” and “Method Of Vaccination” stated on this direction sheet. The vaccine must be prepared and administered as directed to obtain best results.

Store vaccine between 2-7°C.

This vaccine is not effective when chickens are derived from strongly immune parent stock. Therefore, the immune status of the flock to be vaccinated should be determined prior to using this vaccine. Use this vaccine when parental antibody to bursal disease virus (Gumboro disease) is at its minimum. While immunity begins to develop immediately, it generally requires 10 days to two weeks for chickens to establish immunity to Gumboro disease following vaccination, during which time they should not be placed in contaminated premises or otherwise exposed to Gumboro disease. If there are susceptible laying chickens on the premises there is a possibility that the virus might spread from the vaccinated to the susceptible chickens and affect egg production.

Vaccinate only healthy birds.

Use entire contents when a vial is first opened.

Dispose of all vials and unused contents according to local biohazardous waste regulations.

Keep permanent vaccination records including vaccine serial number.

Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.

The use of this vaccine is subject to local laws wherever applicable.

Vaccine contains Gentamicin as a preservative.

This vaccine was carefully produced and passed all tests for purity and potency according to the requirements of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
