SUGGESTED USE: As an aid in the absorption of toxins in dogs, cats, and other animals.

In all cases of suspected poisoning consult your veterinarian for complete diagnosis and specific treatment.

Each mL of Activated Charcoal Suspension can absorb at least 55 mg strychnine sulfate.

INGREDIENTS: Activated charcoal, sorbitol, kaolin, suspending agents, preservatives, water qs.

Store at room temperature. Avoid excess humidity.

Discard within 48 hours after opening.

Directions For Use

Give orally 10 to 20 mL per kg body weight (5 to 10 mL per lb) by causing the animal to consume the calculated quantity. The product may be given as is or mixed with a small amount of cold water. Consult a veterinarian about delivery by stomach tube if needed.

Activated Charcoal Suspension with Sorbitol Caution

Do not use in animals with ileus or intestinal obstruction. Activated Charcoal Suspension should not be given in conjunction with oral medications as the charcoal may absorb the therapeutic agent. Maintain patient hydration. Monitor for 4 hours after use for signs of hypernatremia (ataxia, tremors, seizures).

NOTE: Osmotic cathartics may be associated with electrolyte disturbances (hypernatremia) due to loss of excess free body water in the gut. Dehydration and hypertension have been reported with excess cathartics. Cathartics should only be used with the initial charcoal delivery. If charcoal is still required, use Activated Charcoal Suspension or Granules at the lower amount every 24-48 hours. Tests for ethylene glycol must be conducted before Activated Charcoal Suspension is given to prevent false positive reactions.
