Sulfamethazine and sulfathiazole water soluble powder for swine and cattle.

ANTIBIOTIC
Active Ingredients
Each gram contains:
630 mg Sulfamethazine Sodium
315 mg Sulfathiazole Sodium.
Warnings
Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 10 days after the latest treatment.
Do not use in lactating dairy cattle.
Do not administer in swine feed.
Sulfonamides can cause allergic reactions in sensitized individuals. When handling the product, avoid inhalation, oral exposure and direct contact with skin or eyes.
Keep out of reach of children.
2 Sulfamed Indications
Swine: As an aid in the treatment of enteritis and respiratory diseases caused by bacteria susceptible to sulfamethazine and sulfathiazole.
Cattle: As an aid in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria susceptible to sulfamethazine and sulfathiazole such as pneumonia, metritis, enteritis, foot rot, mastitis and complicated viral infections (Bovine Respiratory Disease Complex).
Dosage and Administration
To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently and for the shortest duration required to achieve the desired clinical outcome.
Swine and Cattle:
Herd Medication: Dissolve 567 g in sufficient water to medicate 2,680 kg of bodyweight over a period of 24 hours for the first day, and to medicate 5,360 kg of bodyweight for the second and subsequent days.
Individual Treatment for Cattle:
Administer as a drench. On the first day, 60 mL of a 12.5% solution or 30 mL of a 25% solution per 35 kg of body weight. On the second, third and fourth day, administer half of the dosage of the first day.
How to Prepare Solution:
For a 12.5% solution: Dissolve 567 g in water to make a total volume of 4.5 litres of solution.
For a 25% solution: Dissolve 567 g in water to make a total volume of 2.27 litres of solution. Use warm water and stir thoroughly.
Contraindications
Do not administer to animals with a known sensitivity to sulfonamides or with renal impairment.
CAUTIONS:
If improvement is not seen within 48 hours, medication should be discontinued and the diagnosis and treatment should be re-evaluated. Generally, treatment should not exceed 4 days. Severely dehydrated animals should not be treated with this drug. Treated animals should have easy access to drinking water to maintain adequate hydration.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 23°C. Keep from freezing.
