For the Consumer
Applies to boric acid topical: vaginal suppository
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:
new or worsening symptoms (itch, vaginal discharge, etc);
vaginal burning sensation;
high fever; or
symptoms that go away and come back.
Common side effects may include:
watery vaginal discharge;
redness, mild burning; or
a gritty sensation in the vagina.

Applies to boric acid topical: compounding powder, topical ointment, topical solution, vaginal suppository
Dermatologic side effects have included psoriasiform lesions, bullae and, intense erythematous eruptions, often covering the entire body and followed in one or two days by extensive desquamation. Mucus membranes are often involved.[Ref]
Nervous system side effects have included convulsions, delirium, and coma.[Ref]
Renal side effects have included acute tubular necrosis, oliguria and anuria.[Ref]
