Applies to: Biaxin (clarithromycin), rifabutin
Ask your doctor before using clarithromycin together with rifabutin. This can alter your blood levels or add to the side effects of either medication. Call the doctor if you have side effects such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. This combination can also affect the eye and cause inflammation of part or all of the uvea, the middle part of the eye. You may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take both medications together. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
