Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Cell-U-Jec (betamethasone)
- ticlopidine
Interactions between your drugs
ticlopidine betamethasone
Applies to: ticlopidine, Cell-U-Jec (betamethasone)
Limited data have shown that corticosteroids may significantly decrease ticlopidine-induced prolongations in bleeding times. The mechanism may be related to corticosteroid induced peripheral vasoconstriction as limited data have shown that corticosteroids do not affect ADP-mediated platelet aggregation in patients who are taking therapeutic doses of ticlopidine. The clinical relevance of this interaction is unknown, although it is suggested by some experts that systemic corticosteroids could be used prior to emergency surgery in patients who are taking ticlopidine. It is unknown whether the risk of thrombosis is increased in patients who are taking both drugs. More data are needed.

Drug and food interactions
ticlopidine food
Applies to: ticlopidine
ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: The bioavailability and gastrointestinal tolerance of ticlopidine is enhanced by food.
MANAGEMENT: Patients may be advised to take ticlopidine with meals.

Therapeutic duplication warnings
No duplication warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
Drug Interaction Classification
Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
