2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Ketek (telithromycin)
- rufinamide
Interactions between your drugs
telithromycin rufinamide
Applies to: Ketek (telithromycin), rufinamide
Rufinamide may reduce the blood levels of telithromycin, which may make the medication less effective in treating your infection. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen or your condition changes. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
rufinamide food
Applies to: rufinamide
Food can enhance the levels of rufinamide in your body. To ensure maximal oral absorption, rufinamide should be administered with or immediately after a meal. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking rufinamide. Alcohol can increase some of the side effects including drowsiness or dizziness. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
