Drug Interaction Report
3 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- paliperidone
- SymlinPen 120 (pramlintide)
Interactions between your drugs
pramlintide paliperidone
Applies to: SymlinPen 120 (pramlintide), paliperidone
Paliperidone may interfere with blood glucose control and reduce the effectiveness of pramlintide and other diabetic medications. Monitor your blood sugar levels closely. You may need a dose adjustment of your diabetic medications during and after treatment with paliperidone. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
pramlintide food
Applies to: SymlinPen 120 (pramlintide)
Pramlintide may interact with other medications if taken at the same time. Your other medications should be administered at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after your pramlintide injection. Talk with your doctor before using alcohol while you are using pramlintide. Using pramlintide together with alcohol can lead to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Alcohol can cause increased blood sugar due to the calories in alcoholic beverages. You may need a dose adjustment and you may need to check your blood sugar more often.
paliperidone food
Applies to: paliperidone
You should avoid the use of alcohol while being treated with paliperidone. Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of paliperidone such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. Paliperidone may be taken with or without food. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
