Drug Interaction Report
2 potential interactions and/or warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Sesquient (fosphenytoin)
- sucralfate
Interactions between your drugs
sucralfate fosphenytoin
Applies to: sucralfate, Sesquient (fosphenytoin)
Using sucralfate together with fosphenytoin may decrease the effects of fosphenytoin. Separate fosphenytoin at least two hours before or 6 hours after sucralfate and contact your doctor if loss of seizure control occurs. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor
Drug and food interactions
sucralfate food
Applies to: sucralfate
When sucralfate is given with enteral (tube) feedings, the feeding tube may become clogged and/or sucralfate may not work as well. You could interrupt the feeding for 1 hour before and after the sucralfate dose. However, this still may not entirely avoid the interaction and may not always be feasible. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Therapeutic duplication warnings
No duplication warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
