For Lupus "Wonderful. Lupus flare. My joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons were hurting tired, achy, and so on. Doctor gave me a Kenalog shot in my hip. Within 24 hours, a bit better. Within 4 days, so much better. Reduced inflammatory issues and pain. Even my sciatica pain was greatly reduced. Much better and easier than increasing my maintenance Prednisone by mouth and then having to take weeks to cut down 1/2 mg a week... takes forever. Great idea to use the Kenalog shot to break the flare.!!!"

For Bursitis "So far it's only been 3 days and I have relief from deep pain in my hips. The injections were on both sides of my SI joint. I did experience flushing yesterday and some insomnia, which isn't uncommon for me. I take Mag. at night, which helps me sleep along with progesterone I take for HRT. I'm new to this and am not crazy about steroids. Weight gain for me is not a plus, and I already retain water. The trade-off is no pain at present, which is a relief. I don't know how long it will last, but for now I'm thankful."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I have been on Kenalog intramuscular injections taken every 3 months for over 5 years. I have this as well as my biologic infusion to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Kenalog is the only drug to make me feel "normal". When I have Kenalog, I am pain-free and the stiffness lessens. I actually feel like I did before I was diagnosed at 32, which is amazing. But, I now have cataracts which the Kenalog may have contributed to, and I also have a new diagnosis of osteoporosis. So, I have reluctantly chosen to stop or at least take it twice a year for relief."

"This steroid enabled me to function in daily life that, without it, I would be in horrific pain. Without K-40, I can barely walk and I talk in rasping sentences because my left shoulder blade is pushed into the back of my neck and voice box. Several years ago, I used Botox injections, but the benefits became less and less. Usually, now, as I walk out of my clinic after K-40, I am improving. I didn't notice any bad side effects, but then I am on several oral meds."

For Asthma "I had hay fever with extreme itchy eyes while in New Zealand. The doctor gave me a 40 mg shot of Kenacort. Within a couple of days, my symptoms cleared, and for 2 years, I was allergy-free of any hay fever or asthma (that included both in the US and NZ through their spring seasons). I repeated another injection, which lasted close to 2 years. I will be asking my doctor in the US to give me an injection this coming spring. It sure beats nose sprays, inhalers, eye drops, and getting a bloody nose from steroid nose sprays. I had no side effects from the injection either time, except feeling quite good the first 24 hours. And even better when all my symptoms went away."

For Allergic Reactions "I have been suffering from chronic seasonal rhinitis for more than six years. I was taking every prescription antihistamine available from my GP: Fexofenadine 180 mg x 4 daily and Mometasone x 4 daily. I would sneeze a hundred times a day during really bad episodes. I called them nuclear days. Kenalog comes with a lot of warnings, but for me, the need was greater than the risk. Kenalog changed my life. My mental health improved. I was able to go for a walk in sunlight while someone was mowing their lawn! I had a lot of anxiety about Kenalog. Not anymore. This drug changed my life."

For Lupus "I have used Kenalog for my lupus. It has helped tremendously without all the side effects. My flares are less frequent and pain is minimal. I can function again. My only problem was I was getting them in my arms, and it caused a loss of muscle. I switched injection sites between my butt and arms, so I'm not getting them in the same location all the time."

For Lupus "I was in such pain from the multiple autoimmune diseases I have. When asked about my pain scale at my rheumatologist, I said I had passed stage 10 ages ago. I literally didn't want to move, I hurt everywhere. My doctor said we would try Kenalog-40. I was so incredibly pleased. I got fairly quick relief, and in several days was moving normally. I had no side effects I am aware of. This so far has been a success story for me. I had my 90-day shot a couple of weeks ago."

For Psoriasis "Kenalog has changed my life. I have hand psoriasis and for years tried every topical prescription steroid and treatment out there, to no avail. The very first time I had a few Kenalog injections in my hand, the skin cracks healed, the plaques thinned, and my hands were normal again. Miraculous. In addition, I had severe hip bursitis, and Kenalog allowed me to continue walking up and down the 15 stairs in my home without issue. After a few months, it needs to be reinjected, but it's an absolute life changer for me."

For Psoriasis "My menstruation is totally out of control while on Kenalog injections (for psoriasis). It’s heavy as last 7-10 days vs 4-5 light days when I’m not on Kenalog. I was on it for a 6-month period, having injections every 4 weeks. 'Til I couldn’t take the heavy cycle and my hemoglobin dropped to 7. Last month, I got back on the Kenalog because the psoriasis was so bad and inflamed. Now, the second set of injections this month, my cycle is heavy already. Not sure what to do. I’m very disappointed."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I receive Kenalog 40 as an injection in my arm, and within 1.5 weeks, my nose is like a normal, healthy nose again! I have a full sense of smell and no longer lose my sense of taste either, it’s absolutely glorious and is the only thing that makes me feel like a normal person with no nasal problems. It also definitely lasts longer than 3 months for me, it’s closer to 6 months in my experience."

For Psoriasis "I love this drug, Kenalog-40. My entire body hurt, my joints hurt all over my body. This drug is a miracle, but not without side effects. You will get a round face, but it’s not awful. I did develop a bit of a hump on my back, but that will go away. I can’t take another one for about 2 months, but I wish I could now."

For Osteoarthritis "Had Kenalog-40 injections in the shoulder, knees, and base of thumb joints. No side effects. Was able to get a full night's sleep finally. Experienced aching only when there’s a weather change. Too bad it doesn’t last longer."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Years ago, I fell and broke my hand and have a tear in my rotator cuff. My hand healed fine, but for years I have pain in my shoulder. My physical therapist helped me gain my motion back. The shoulder is still painful, so at least twice a year I need to get Kenalog-40 injections for pain. Thank God the only side effect I have is, around 4 days after, my face gets red and hot for 2 days. I have a sensitive stomach and am unable to take Aleve, Aspirin, etc., so between physical therapy and this injection, my life is back."

For Lupus "Best drug ever! I only wish it lasted longer. I get 80 mg every 3 months in alternating butt cheeks. Takes about 24 hours, then wow, I'm suddenly able to move again. Not total pain loss, of course, but much, much better. No side effects. I have severe joint pain all over, so this is a miracle drug for me! At about 2 1/2 months, pain starts to creep back in. I wish I could get it monthly, but Dr. says it really should be every 4 months but is willing to give it to me every 3 months. I highly recommend!"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I was suffering with rheumatoid arthritis, and my quality of life was non-existent. I was hopeless. My thigh area and my groin area would burn and feel as if they would snap. I couldn't do anything. Pain management could care less about a person's pain anymore. I was in pain management for 8 years. An orthopedic surgeon checked me out, suggested the injection of Kenalog-40, and I have a life now. It's as different as night and day. I had a reaction right after the injection. Felt faint. Broke out in a sweat. It passed. I took some water. I was fine. I have such relief, FINALLY. I hope my pain doesn't return. I'm worried about that because it pained me so much. But right now, 3 weeks later, I'm way good!!!"
