For Allergic Rhinitis "I had been dealing with a year and a half of sinus migraines, several rounds of antibiotics, OTC allergy meds, etc., and my sinuses never seemed to clear up from seasonal allergies. It was more like year-round allergies. My doctor recommended the Kenalog shot, and within 2 days, the sinus pressure went away, I didn't have migraines, and I felt normal. I don't recall having any shakes or other side effects like that, but I do have an indentation in my buttocks at the injection site. However, I recently discovered that I am sensitive to some adhesives in bandages, so it may be from that instead of the injection. Also, it may be interesting to note that about 1 month after my injection, I had 6 weeks of vaginal bleeding, not quite a period, not quite spotting. It went away on its own, so I am curious now if that was related to the Kenalog shot or a different cause. About 2 months after that cleared up is when I felt the Kenalog effectiveness go away, and I'm 'due' for another shot."

For Bursitis "I received an injection of Kenalog-40 6 days ago, and within about 4 hours, I noticed a big difference. I had pain from bursitis in 2 different places in my hip from a fall 5 months ago. I was unable to sit for long periods without severe pain. Transitioning from sitting to standing was very painful, and I had sciatic pain down my leg. I walked with a limp for 4 months. A week after the injection, I am about 80% better. I have pain if I sit too long and when my leg gets tired. It is important to not overdo it and to ice the affected areas as often as you can. So far, I think this medicine is a godsend. I did notice some side effects: I have several bruises on my arms, I am more hungry than usual, and I have to urinate more frequently. These are all mild side effects. The first week I was also hot and sweaty all the time."

For Osteoarthritis "My doctor injected my knee with Kenalog-40, OMG! It worked amazingly, literally no pain in my knee for two months. However, on day nine, I developed an allergic eczema rash on my belly (lower and upper), both legs (mid-thigh and lower), front and back. It's very itchy. I had the injection on 8/23/23, and as of today (11/15/23), it's still there. Nothing else has changed in my life - food, meds, etc. My eosinophil count has increased two months in a row, so my body is definitely still fighting it. I've had other joint injections with no reaction at all."

For Allergic Reactions "Out of the blue, rash over half my body. Scared and primary care physician gave me an injection of Kenalog-40 in my hip. Leaving for vacation and within four days rash was gone. Never really knew the total cause."

For Osteoarthritis "If this steroid didn’t exist, I’d be completely messed up. My basal joint is swollen and feels like ground glass until I get my next shot... after that, it’s calm and I can grip again. Don't even get me started on what it does for trochanteric bursitis and facet joints. If it wasn't for Kenalog... I'd have no purpose and no use for this world."

For Asthma "Really helps for lung constriction, but the side effects are staggering. Within forty-eight hours, I was shaking uncontrollably, face red, felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest, face turned into steroid 'moon pie,' sweating and cannot sleep. Breathing is more important, but this is a ride I wish I could get off of."

For Osteoarthritis "I am 74 years young, an active person. Had pain in my jaw for about three weeks, could hardly talk or eat. Thinking it was something awful, I went to the E.R., and the MD there ordered a CAT scan of the mandible, etc. Finally, the report came in as osteoarthritis of the jaw area and inflammation, etc. Well, I was given 2 injections: one of Toradol for pain and Kenalog for the inflammation. Amazingly, after about one hour, I felt much better. Hardly any pain. The doctor told me to see my own MD for follow-up and to take Aleve for pain until then. I will be making an appt. ASAP since I was good for three whole weeks, but now the pain is starting again. I don't want to take Aleve too much as it irritates the stomach and could be harmful if taken consistently. No side effects from either drug."

For Allergic Rhinitis "I lost my sense of smell several years ago due to chronic sinusitis. In March 2017, I had a shot of Kenalog in my right hip, resulting in the restoration of my sense of smell. It was wonderful, but short-lived. The shot lasted 3 months, and my ENT will only give it once a year due to the chance of necrosis. I had my 2nd shot in mid-April (almost 2 weeks ago), and unfortunately, my sense of smell did not return. Hoping that it will come back again."

For Osteoarthritis "Had an injection into my knee due to osteoarthritis. I am scheduled for knee replacement, but there is a 1-year wait for surgery. Before the injection, I could not sleep due to throbbing pain, and after the injection, this is gone. My overall pain is significantly reduced. I had no adverse reaction to the drug."

For Sarcoidosis "For the last three years, I have had lower back pain that went down into both right and left buttocks and into my right hip. I was finally referred to the radiology department, and they gave me an injection into both SI joints. After three days, the constant pain and spasms went away that were in my lower back and that went down into my buttocks and into my hip. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to sleep, walk without limping and hurting, and my attitude and energy level became more positive. To be rid of the constant chronic pain that never went away, day and night, was a blessing! The injection has lasted 1 1/2 months, and now I am starting to hurt again. I would recommend an injection for pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I have been getting Kenalog injections for years. I’ve had them in my shoulders, cervical spine, lumbar spine, knees, and even my toe. I have experienced everything from a few weeks of relief to my more normal 3-4 months of relief. I have never experienced any side effects except temporary soreness at the point of the injection. Everyone’s body reacts differently to treatments, but I have had very good luck with the injections and will continue to get them as needed. I hope your experience with Kenalog is as good as mine."

For Osteoarthritis "I have cerebral palsy, which includes the secondary condition of osteoarthritis. Kenalog is the best steroid that I have tried; I get it in injection form - the injection does not affect my blood pressure, so it is safe in my case since I have hypertension. It is a shame that I can only receive the shots 2x/year. If there were an option to have them once a month without a chance of joint destruction, I would opt to get them without a second thought!"

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I get an intramuscular injection of Kenalog 40 in my right shoulder to relieve psoriatic arthritis. The medication works within 2-4 days. It reduces pain from 8/10 to 3/10. The medication seems to be distributed by my bloodstream. The rest of my entire body feels the results of the medication also."

For Psoriasis "My dermatologist gives me tiny injections under the skin on each plaque. My hands can get really bad. Usually by the next day or two, they are gone. It lasts quite a while. I also get injections of Kenalog plus a numbing agent for severe muscle spasms from fibromyalgia. The pain management doctor injects the muscles where the spasms are. By the next day, I'm 90% better. Usually, I only have to get these a few times a year. So Kenalog works really well for me."

"Usually get DEPRO lumbar epidurals every 2 months after a bad car accident - and stenosis, just some relief - fill in the days with Diclofenac, hell on stomach, and Oxy just to barely function. Asked Dr. if we could switch to Kenalog and change it up after doing my own research... Day 2... Almost zero pain... little stiff in morning getting up stiff, but getting out of bed on my own, no help! Don't want to get ahead of myself, but this is literally the first pain relief I have had 24/7 in 6 years. Phew!!!!"

For Keloids "I had a burn, and after healing, a keloid started forming. Note I didn't know about keloids all my life, I had never seen it or had anyone with it. So, someone recommended Kenalog. The keloid is big. I took the first dose of Kenalog and saw a great change after a few days. The side that was injected flattened. I was impressed and happy because I have spent a lot on buying creams and other assumed medicines. I took the second dose, and it flattened completely, but I noticed it messed with my menstruation. My menstruation usually lasts for 5 days, but it prolonged it to 12 days. I didn't mind, I just wanted the keloid to go away. I took another dose, and wow, it has completely flattened with no trace of keloid, but I still have the dark spot, which I know with time it will blend to my skin type. Kenalog helped me flatten my keloid of 2 years, but the side effect of prolonging menstruation is what should be worked on. I had no other side effects aside from the prolonged menstruation."

For Allergic Rhinitis "My doctor in the UK used to give me this injection at the start of the hay fever season - for me this was May - and I was clear of all the debilitating symptoms until the end. When we moved to France, my hay fever disappeared, but this year it's returned with a vengeance. So glad I'm here as Kenalog is not banned here as it now is in the UK. It really is my savior!"

For Allergic Rhinitis "Cleared my sinus inflammation. A side effect, unfortunately, is I’m left with a hard lump on my buttock at the injection site, 7 months later, still present."
