For Type 2 Diabetes "This medicine works really well in reducing my diabetes numbers, and it has helped to reduce food noise. I have lost about 25 pounds in the last 8 months; however, I just started working out 2 months ago. The only side effect I experience is some nausea and/or constipation, which sometimes occur 24-48 hours after injection and only last for about a day or so. I sometimes take a fiber supplement if I experience constipation. This medication has helped me, and I no longer take any other medication for my diabetes, and my labs have greatly improved."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro on September 1, 2022. My starting weight was 192 lbs, I'm 38 years old and 5'3". By February 2023, I weighed in at 135 lbs. I experience severe nausea, sour stomach, sulfur burps, and constipation on every dose I was on. I was only able to go to 5 mg, as 7.5 mg about done me in. I went back to the 5 mg. I've always been active, worked out, etc., but after a few life events, I struggled to lose 10 lbs! This was a game changer for me. It quieted the food noise, the cravings, etc. I was able to eat just a few bites of whatever meal and then done. I didn't want to eat! My nighttime snacking is gone. I didn't even like the smell of McDonald's french fries. Now, my mom tried it also, but she never had any of the horrible symptoms, and the food noise quieted a little bit. She got up to 7.5 mg but couldn't get anything in stock for the 10 mg. She didn't lose the significant weight that I did and has now switched to Ozempic due to stock issues."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has been wonderful in reducing my blood sugar. However, the side effects feel like sometimes they are going to be the death of me. I experience nausea, constipation, and stomach pain. But if this is how it has to be to control my sugar, I can handle it. The only real trouble I am having is being able to get it through my pharmacy as it is often out of stock due to people using it for weight loss. I think diabetics should be given the first chance to receive this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "PROS: easy delivery system; decreased/normalized A1C; significant weight loss; improved daily glucose numbers; improved mobility; improved breathing/sleep apnea. CONS: SEVERE constipation (have a simple, daily 'bowel maintenance' plan with doctor to address this; works well); loss of muscle mass; pen disposal/recycling. Age: 45-54. Gender: Female. Race: African American. Start weight: 239. Current weight: 205 (down 6 sizes: 20 to 14). Height: 5'4''. Start A1C: 6.6. Current A1C: 5.3. My A1C is under 5.4. Started at 2.5 mg; increased to/stayed at 7.5 mg over 8 months to avoid losing weight faster than my skin could retract ('Ozempic butt'). I exercise 4 days a week; primarily weight training. I do an annual DEXA scan to evaluate my body composition (out of pocket). I've lost muscle mass using Mounjaro since my last annual DEXA scan (down 7 lbs of muscle, 34 lbs of fat). The muscle loss was really surprising and disappointing, since I always use weights (up to 60 lbs for leg exercises) when working out."

For Type 2 Diabetes "It's easy to use, however, the side effects are horrible. I have had all of the listed side effects. Constipation, nausea, and vomiting are the worst. It feels like a rock in my gut, however, it's a little better than Ozempic, which I puked every day. So I'm sticking with the Mounjaro for now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Severe nausea and stomach pain within the first 2 days of taking, then settles the next 5. Always feel a pressure in the stomach - not pain, not really uncomfortable, just a noticeable presence. Constipation for 4-6 days despite taking extra fiber and water."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Lost 60 pounds in 4 months. Stomach pain and alternating diarrhea and constipation. I had recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with an A1C of 6.6. Now my A1C is down to 5.5. My sleep apnea went from 27 incidents per hour to less than 2 per hour. I just started taking the 10 dosage. Every time I up my dosage, I have a few days of bad side effects, especially stomach pain, but after a while, they lessen, however, diarrhea or constipation never stops."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Using this medication for over a year now, and at first, I experienced nausea and an upset stomach until I found that using different parts of the body to inject into may help with that, and bam, nausea gone. I had constipation, which was resolved with 1000 mg of magnesium. In the beginning, at my max dose, I had little appetite and ate to keep from getting low blood sugars. I lost 15 lbs and gained 20 back, but I didn't originally take the medication for weight loss, it was to control my type 2, which it has, so I can’t complain about that. My A1C is better and my blood glucose most days are normal. Now I just have to lose the weight I put on to feel comfortable again, which when I discussed this with my provider, she confirmed some people lose weight and keep it off, others will hit a plateau and gain some back once they hit their max dose."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This drug is very helpful for me with weight loss. After checking the side effects, I have quite a few. Constant constipation, nausea, pain, inflammation, as well as additional thyroid issues, to name a few. Now, I'm concerned about my choice in using this drug. For me, it's very easy to administer the medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have lost 87 pounds in 9 months. I don't take blood pressure medication anymore and am not pre-diabetic any longer. I do have problems with constipation and some minor nausea the day after taking the injection. Overall, this medication has changed my life."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Lost 37 lbs in 33 days (4 shots of 2.5 mg and one 5 mg). Now only lost 2 lbs over the last two weeks at 5 mg. I have a lot to lose and guess my body just needed a break. The weight was melting off like butter. No real side effects to speak of except first-week constipation and feeling a little sick if I eat something a bit fatty or greasy. So, I just cut that stuff out. Hopefully, I will start losing again on 7.5 mg."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am currently taking Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes. I have had much better success controlling my ups and downs on my blood sugar (BS), and even when I had a few celebratory drinks the other day, I’ve had no low incidences of BS. My A1C was 6.6 when I started, and it has gone down steadily. I’m also impressed with my weight loss, which in 13 weeks has gone from 245 to 218, and I am 5’4.” My initial side effects were occasional nausea and constipation. I just started my 7.5 dose 5 days ago and have noticed a decrease in constipation-thankfully! I saw another review saying they had sulfur burps and that this was a medication too good to be true. I disagree. I’ve no doubt that person had a tough time, but it has worked wonderfully for me! This is why it’s important to take this with the guidance of your doctor-this may not be for everyone-but I’m extremely grateful for this medication."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Mounjaro is good for weight loss as it makes you less hungry and increases your energy levels, but the downside is the side effects, which range from nausea, vomiting, and constipation. It is not a miracle drug, and it is started at a low level and gradually increases, but it's a great kickstart if it's combined with a healthy lifestyle."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I finished the first four weeks of 2.5 mg injections last week. Tonight, I start taking the 5 mg injection. I have had dizziness and lightheaded episodes that come and go, and occasional blurred vision. Constipation has been a problem. When I have dizzy spells, the top number of my blood pressure is lower than normal. My appetite has changed, I don't eat as much as I did before, and my weight has dropped thirteen pounds since I first started taking it. I see my doctor in two months, that's when I'll find out if it is helping my A1C. My doctor informed me that it would help me lose weight, which I need to do very much. It's very easy to use."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am on my 4th week of Mounjaro. It is suppressing the food chatter in my brain really well. I am only eating when hungry. I do have increased constipation and am working through that. There is an achiness in my stomach that is not intolerable, just a nuisance. Intermittent nausea, no vomiting, no diarrhea. 2.5mg weekly. I lost 7 pounds starting the 3rd week."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have started with 2.5 mg dose once every week on 16th April 2024. They gave me 4 rounds of this dose. Then they started with 5 mg dose once every week. Initially, I was feeling nausea, diarrhea, sour burps, and dizziness, and gradually it decreased. When I started to take 5 mg, the same symptoms, apart from diarrhea. This time I had severe constipation on the 3rd day of the 5 mg dose, but I took some home remedy and laxative medicine. Still experiencing constipation. But the good thing is my appetite has reduced significantly, I am eating like a 5 to 10-year-old child. Feeling energetic, I lost around 6 kg in weight. Sugar level is under control, reduced Humalog dose."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Been taking 0.3ml weekly for nearly 8 weeks. This stuff works! Hunger dissipated and smaller portions eaten. Constant weight loss over that period up to 5kg (haven't checked in this week yet). My side effects are severe reflux (usually on the same day as injection) but can happen rest of the week and constipation. I do suffer from reflux from time to time prior to this, but it is definitely amplified with Mounjaro. All in all, very happy with the outcome."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Have been on Mounjaro 4 months now. First month I lost 12 pounds, then 2nd & 3rd month only lost 3 pounds each month but because of shortage I was unable to go up in dose. 4th month (on 5 mg now) I have lost 5 pounds (this month) for a total of 23 pounds in 4 months!! I’m thrilled just to be going in the right direction. PLUS I have only had minor side effects. Some nausea first 2 weeks & again for that long once I went up in dosage but manageable. Also, remember to have enough fiber to avoid constipation which bothered me a little. I have several chronic pain illnesses that do not allow me to move around much so I was never able to lose weight in past years without exercise. This is the first time. I am so THRILLED. Hoping I can stay on it to lose 70 more pounds! At least I have hope now!! Will continue to try. Hope others find hope with this drug."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Excellent experience! I’m currently on 10mg per week SC injection of Mounjaro. My HgbA1c has decreased substantially, to the point where I am now back in a pre-diabetic zone again - although I maintain my diet and exercise as though I’m still fully diabetic. Bonus: In the process of titrating up to 10mg/week I lost 40 lbs. The weight loss occurred over the past 7-8 months and I am now maintaining my lower weight loss. Regarding side effects (or adverse events) that I’ve experienced, they have been minimal and mostly consisting of constipation. This is easily controlled with a medium-sized (half a cap) daily dose of Miralax in my morning coffee!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro is amazing! For over 2 years, my doctor was trying to get me to try medications to control my A1C, and I thought I could do it on my own. I finally tried Mounjaro after 3 years of trying to lose weight on my own to help my glucose levels. I have been on 2.5 for 1 year and have lost 58 lbs and am still losing! The only side effect I experienced is constipation, which is controlled by eating prunes. I am so very grateful for this medication."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking 2.5 in January. It worked well to level blood sugar. I did not feel hungry at all, and I had to think about eating and drinking. When I did eat, I chose no greasy foods at all. On one occasion that I had something greasy, I had sulphuric burps. I do have to make sure to drink water, tea, and a new favorite diet tonic water with a splash of juice. I lost only five pounds, so my doctor increased the dose to 5mg. I feel full now, not to eat large meals but have had only one slight side effect, constipation, so I eat some prunes and no problem. I am losing weight slowly, and that is okay, it’s not why I took the drug. Do not eat greasy food and see how you feel."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro in August of '22. My doctor started me on it for Type 2 diabetes, but weight loss was also the goal. Started at 2.5 mg and now I’m on 15 mg. So far, I’ve lost 80 pounds with no effort. I’ve had little to no appetite. In regard to side effects, they’ve been very minimal. Some mild nausea, dry mouth, and constipation. I have vomited on 3 occasions, and it was due to drinking too much coffee, which made me too full. When reading reviews, please keep in mind that in terms of side effects, you just won’t know until you try the med. I personally have 2 other friends taking this, and their experiences have been pretty much like mine. Don’t let the horror stories scare you, because this medicine has been a true lifesaver for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "WOW! Eight months, and I have lost 80 lbs. I had constipation and took Miralax. I had an upset stomach and heartburn. Didn’t last long when on a low dose. On the highest dose, I no longer have an upset stomach and heartburn. I take Contrave, too. I have been overweight my entire life. I was taught to eat three times a day and clean my plate. Now I am able to not eat unless hungry and to leave food on my plate. My whole way of looking and feeling and thinking about food has changed. Life no longer revolves around food. Life-changing."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My wife, Ina, started this med about 2 weeks ago. Just constipated a lot, and another weird side effect is that she went through menopause 2 years ago, and now, since she has been on this drug, she has been having something like a period or bleeding from her vagina. Has anyone else gone through this? I am taking her to her doctor today to get it checked out. Very weird! She has lost about 7 pounds, though, but this morning, she has stomach and gas pains. Is this normal?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve lost about a pound per week, starting with the smallest dose and leveling up every month. I started at 187 pounds and am down to 172. Side effects: constipation, belching, and fatigue (probably due to not eating enough). I like the pens and got over my fear of the needle. Sometimes it leaves a red welt in my tummy, but not usually. The worst part about it is the cost. My insurance doesn’t cover it, even though I was obese, had pre-diabetes, and sleep apnea (which I didn’t have when I was thinner). Imagine how many health issues could be solved if people could use this to lose weight."
