For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was taking Flomax for about 8 years. I was told I had an enlarged prostate, but I had no problem peeing or any other symptoms. Since I started taking it, I had back pain 24/7, no ejaculation, feeling sleepy all the time, dizziness. I stopped taking Flomax about 45 days ago. I gradually weaned myself off them. Within a few days after stopping Flomax, my back pain is pretty much gone. I have pain if I try to overdo it. I’m 70! So naturally, I can’t do the things I could when I was 30, but overall, I feel much better. I have more energy, I don’t need an afternoon nap anymore, I actually feel like I’m 30. Anyone who is considering stopping Flomax, I would do it slowly. So far, so good. I still get up to pee a couple of times a night, but I think that’s because my wife is always making soup, and I generally wake around 2 a.m. to use the bathroom, but I’ve never had a problem with slow stream! Actually, quite the opposite."

For Urinary Frequency "Took my first 0.4 mg capsule last night. Woke up a lot with a stuffy nose. Got up this AM, was a little dizzy, massive headache, stuffy/runny nose. I don't notice any urinary improvement (does that take time??) This headache! Ugh!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I got Flomax for my prostate problem - I had a low pee stream and was going to the restroom many times at night. After 4-5 hours of taking Flomax, I could pee like when I was 20 years old, no getting up at night to pee. BUT! The next day to get up for work, I felt super dizzy, I almost fainted, my head hurt, my muscles too. I'm not taking it - it's just not worth it."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Had open-heart surgery several weeks ago and had a urinary catheter for the first time ever. When difficulty urinating started, Flomax was prescribed. I had a number of terrible side effects I couldn't relate to the drug until we realized it was the only Rx that had changed post-surgery. I developed a neurological issue where the floor seemed to move when I walked, so I bounced from wall to wall and could only safely walk with a walker. On the second day this issue started, the sensation never eased up, sending me back to the ER with dizziness and vomiting, and for the next 5 days they couldn't find anything wrong. Other symptoms included terrible constipation, gasping for air when sleeping, even when sleeping propped up in a hospital bed. The exhaustion others mention in reviews was severe as well. I was on the medicine a couple of days, went home after surgery, took a day or two to get back on the medicine, then was in the ER 3 days after going home."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Woke up Saturday morning at 5 am with a horrid pain, I was puking, shaking, and screaming in agony. Went to the ER, and they gave me two shots of morphine, which helped, and then gas, as I wasn't coping with the drugs they were giving me. I got a CT scan and found a 3 mm stone, worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Barely get any sleep, can hardly eat anything. I have not passed it yet but have been to the hospital twice. This medication does help me relax and pee a lot easier. It has been six days, I have had lots of lime and water. The doctors prescribed me endone as well as normal pain relief. I don't feel this stone moving, I am bedridden, extremely dizzy. I am a 24-year-old female. I am so envious some passed the stone in a few days or hours. My heart rate does keep fluctuating, I don't get why the stone isn't moving. The drug does help relax all spasms, but yes, it makes you dizzy. It really just depends on who you are and how your body deals with it, apparently, mine just sucks."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Stats: Female, 33 years old, 1st kidney stone, 7mm. Health anxiety. I had a 7mm stone for 2 months. Two ED visits. After my 2nd ED visit, the doctor prescribed me tamsulosin, pain relievers, and gave me a referral to see a urologist & CT scan in 2 weeks' time. The stone was sitting at the entrance to the bladder (just needed to get through the sphincter). As my partner works away two weeks at a time, I was too scared to move for fear of returning pain, so I laid on my side (opposite side of the stone) for pretty much the whole two weeks - I was feeling so low! I decided to wait for my partner to return to take tamsulosin and took it on Sunday evening he returned, had the CT scan the next day on Monday, and Wednesday was the urologist appointment. Lo and behold… the urologist said the stone was gone. I couldn’t believe it! Side effects minimal, some dizziness and foggy, but wasn’t bad at all! If you’re going through this, I know how hard it is & I truly hope this works for you."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I wasn't sure how to rate this drug, since there were pros and cons. I took it just one night because the next morning, for hours, I was greatly dizzy, weak, shaky, and my heart was pounding rapidly, even when resting. My flank pain was much better that day, though. However, I will not be taking it again because of the side effects."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Made me dizzy, and doc put me on vertigo medication to help me with the vomiting problem, which makes you want to sleep all the time but doesn’t cure the dizziness problem. Stopped it now and going to ask the doc for something else. Same thing happened when I was taking Doxazosin for my blood pressure."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Just started Flomax 4 days ago, and I can attest to the dizziness after standing or turning too fast, as well as cottonmouth, or in extreme cottonmouth, I refer to it as Elmer's glue mouth. At 53 years old, a diabetic, and having neuropathy, sex is a distant memory anyway, but I would never share such a private and intimate bond between husband and wife!!"

For Urinary Tract Stones "I was given tamsulosin after going to the urgent care with kidney stones. A CT I had the day prior showed a 5mm stone just at the junction of my bladder. The tamsulosin made me very dizzy and off balance, and I have congestion in my sinuses. After 3 days on it, I got a bad sore throat and trouble breathing, so the urologist said to stop. I'm hoping that big stone passed at urgent care, there's also a 2mm stone still in my kidney. Another CT tomorrow to see where everything is now."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I only used tamsulosin for two days (mild BPH). I'm rating it a 1 primarily because it did nothing to help: no difference in the frequency or ease of urination at night. But, the side effects sure didn't help: - mild dizziness just after taking it - general body malaise - foggy brain - headache - stuffy nose - upper front teeth hurt. - eyes hurt. I can't imagine people taking this every day for the rest of their lives."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I was given this medication along with an antibiotic to treat a UTI caused by a kidney stone. I experienced a lot of muscle weakness and fatigue and missed work because of it. I won't finish this medication. I also experienced some dizziness and what felt like heart palpitations. I only took it once."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Went to the emergency room with pain in the side and found out it was a kidney stone. The doctor prescribed tamsulosin 0.4 mg along with pain meds. I passed the stone after three days. I've had dizziness and felt out of sorts, did not feel I could safely drive. Unfortunately, if another stone shows up, I would take it to pass the stone."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Allergic reaction immediate from one pill, female, prescribed for kidney stones. Blurred vision, headache, swollen throat, tongue blistered, wheezing, dizzy, extreme rapid heart, stuffy nose, sore throat, dental pain. The rapid heartbeat started first, shortly after taking, and wheezing three days after, throat and tongue still hurt; spoke with pharmacist and went to quick care; this was the 4 mg capsule. It was easy to swallow the pill, hard to swallow afterwards due to allergic reaction. Hoping symptoms go away soon, also concerned now if I should ever need eye or cataract surgery how this may impact me."

Tamsulosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I had taken Flomax before when I had prostatitis (bacterial infection of prostate), and it worked well for urine flow and had few side effects, if any, normal course 30 days. But now that I am much older, I am on Flomax daily (0.4 mg) for the last 3 months, and for the last month, I have had a nonstop thudding headache, fatigue, reduced energy, focusing problems with dizziness out of the blue that lasts for a minute or so and goes away. While Flomax has increased my urine flow rate so that I only get up once a night instead of three times, I am going to curb my use of it as the side effects are becoming a problem. The drug works, no doubt about it, but at what cost?"

For Urinary Tract Stones "I have urinary retention and take Flomax at night to avoid the dizziness. But unfortunately, the first night I took it, I still had sinus congestion. I have severe breathing problems, so of course not being able to breathe out of my nose caused major anxiety. The next day, I flushed my sinuses out with NeilMed Sinus Rinse, waited 15-20 minutes, then used Flonase (steroid nasal spray). I use the sinus rinse daily (all-natural ingredients make it safe for daily use) when I wake up to remove the mucus, I take my hot shower, then use one spray of Flonase in each nostril. Before going to bed, I take the Flomax pill, lightly blow my nose, then use Flonase (one spray in each nostril). I have to add that you have to use sterilized or distilled water to mix the pre-packaged saline solution in the sinus rinse kit! I take the hot shower after the sinus rinse so the steam will help with the slight congestion. It would also be a good idea to use a humidifier during the night to put moisture in the air, if needed."
