For Urinary Tract Infection "My right lymph node has gone down a little (swells a lot when I have any infection or cold) and also seems to be getting rid of UTI, but the side effects are so horrible I feel like death. Nobody understands except people up here who are going through the same. Migraines, insomnia out this world (3 days and only 5 hours of sleep), vomiting, and sick to my damn stomach. This is ridiculous...."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Saturday morning, I woke up to use the bathroom, and there was a lot of blood in my urine, along with a bad smell and very cloudy. I've never had a UTI before, I looked up the symptoms and figured that that's what I had. I took some cranberry pills Saturday after noon, and it helped so much. I wanted to go to the doctor just to make sure everything was okay, and on Monday, she gave me these pills. I took my first one around 11 PM, I woke up at 3 AM sweating, head pounding, shakes, and felt the need to throw up. I threw up at least 4 times, and after, I couldn't sleep at all. These suck. Whatever you do, don't take them! It's Tuesday, and I still feel horrible, all from just one pill!!!!! I wish I never took these."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This is the worst drug I’ve ever taken. Swollen tongue, vomiting, hot flashes, and the worst anxiety attack of my entire life ended up in the ER. This stuff also, yes, got rid of the bacteria for my UTI, but then left so much irritation after in my bladder, so I wasn’t even pain-free after all that. Worst experience of my life and will never use this again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Prescribed this poison over 4 years ago for a UTI. Took one pill, within half an hour, was vomiting violently. Never been so ill in my life, my family was very worried about me. It destroyed my entire gut, and I have NEVER recovered even after 4 years. Had all the colonoscopies, etc., many surgeries. I now have severe IBS with no cure. Doctors have tried everything without success, can only eat very limited foods, cannot work, and only weigh 40 kg or less sometimes. Debilitating and soul-destroying. Do NOT take this drug!!!!"

For Bacterial Infection "I have been taking Bactrim for 3 days - twice a day. It’s easy to use, but I don’t like the way it makes me feel - tired, trouble sleeping, with dizziness, stomach discomfort, nausea, and now I have been vomiting since yesterday (2nd) day. I think the Dr. will reduce my taking it from 7 to 3 days. I don’t wish anyone to take it. There has to be another antibiotic to use. I only hope it clears my infection."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I went to the ER for pain in my lower back and my stomach. The doctor said I had a UTI, which I didn't think was the case because I didn't have the symptoms of a UTI. Anyway, I started using the pills (antibiotics), and about an hour after using them, I felt nauseous, dizzy, and started vomiting, itched all over my body, and also I lost my appetite. I threw the pills away, I don't recommend them at all. I have never been allergic to any medication in my life."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I get frequent UTIs. This clears up the infection in three days ... 800/160 mg twice a day, but a month later the infection is back, even though preventative steps are taken. So it worked, but the nausea was terrible, vomiting, gagging - by the third day even my ribs were sore from retching. I couldn't eat, had a headache, and I had to go to bed. For me, a very unpleasant remedy. Meds cost $4 for six pills."

For Kidney Infections "I've taken this medicine because I was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection. I felt amazing after 1 day of taking this. It does make you feel a little nauseous, and I had slight pressure on my head and maybe very dull pain on my sides and lower back sometimes. But for me, it has worked wonders. Also, I'd like to state I was back to working out in the gym after 3 days. But I had to stop because I threw up from the medication. If you have this, please rest until you finish your medication. But overall, it's been a good experience, no crazy symptoms, and just mild for me."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "This antibiotic may work very well for most, however, I had severe nausea and nonstop, uncontrollable vomiting on the 2nd day of taking this. I literally just had to sit next to the toilet for hours because I couldn't stop vomiting bile. I finally called my doctor and was told to stop taking Bactrim. I have now been switched to cephalexin to see how that goes. My sister had taken Bactrim as well and also had severe and uncontrollable vomiting, so I'm wondering if intolerances to sulfa just run in my family. I was taking Bactrim for a suspected trauma-caused cellulitis infection, and it did seem to help with that. The side effects were just way too severe for me."

I was unable to hold anything down and was dehydrated by all of this, which required IV fluids in the ER. By the third day, I had broken out in a full-body rash and needed a steroid shot to counteract the effects of this drug. My doctor informed me I can never be administered this drug again. In the end, it wasn’t effective for me because I couldn’t tolerate it."

For Middle Ear Infections "Sulfamethoxazole with trimethoprim combo antibiotic is the worst medicine for an ear infection, and the doctor gave me this sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim 800 mg/160 mg to use twice a day. The first 2 days, I felt like vomiting, loss of appetite. Day 2 to 4: I felt tired, minor headache, constipation, and loss of appetite still. Day 5 to 9: this period is the worst. I got a high fever at night, hot flash, chill, shaky, killer headache, muscle pain, and my left shoulder became numb at night. My fever went from 100 deg F on day 5 to 103 deg F on day 9. I had to lay on 7 ice pads to keep the temp down. (Tylenol and Advil could not even control the fever when this drug was in.) I stopped using this med on the last day, and I felt like rebirth the next day. I visited my doctor back on the 7th day and asked for a change, but he didn't believe me. He asked me to do a COVID test, which I later did. My COVID test came back on the 10th day, and it was negative. I had no running nose, no coughing, and no sore throat during this time, so I know it wasn't a flu."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Prescribed 2x a day generic Bactrim DS for 5 days. Stopped after 3 days due to severe side effects that started 30 minutes after the first dose. Only plus, seems to have cured UTI, but I will never take this medicine again. Day 1: Severe nausea/vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, extremely dehydrated despite nonstop drinking water/Gatorade. Dry mouth, dry eyes, dry sensitive skin. Complete loss of appetite. Extreme weakness, couldn’t stand or walk, dizziness, loss of coordination. Brain fog, confusion, and stiff neck. Pressure in the base of the skull. Headache and muscle/joint pain all over. Hands trembling, shaking all over. Chills, hot/cold all day/night. Day 2: These symptoms amplified plus insomnia, anxiety, depression. Panic attacks upon waking up. Terrible vivid nightmares, night terrors, hallucinations, sleep paralysis. Sleep apnea and general trouble breathing. Swollen lips. Pins and needles, face numbness. Afraid to sleep because it felt like I was going to die. Back pain. Brain felt like it was swelling."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I wish there was a 0 on the scale for this. Took it once when I was 16 and couldn't recall why I stopped taking them. Well, tonight I took my first pill (yes, I ate!) and after an hour, I immediately started feeling very nauseous and ended up puking. My face is very red, and I have cold shivers. Sulfamethoxazole / trimethoprim for Kidney Infections "Prescribed Septra DS for kidney infection. I didn't have any side effects until the 4th day in, vomiting orange liquid, stomach upset & pains, lower back pain, side pains (both sides), super weak, super dizzy, lightheaded. I am so tired, and I keep having stomach spasms, insomnia. I was almost wanting to go to the hospital, but I hate hospitals, so that's not happening. I nearly also passed out while walking. My pet dog is looking at me funny. Like I made a mistake taking the pills, he's right, I did. Smart dog. Septra is horrible! I keep telling docs to prescribe Ciprofloxacin because of 0 side effects, but no one listens, so they give me this Septra DS stuff. Ugh."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I started taking this combo antibiotic sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim on Saturday with plenty of water. By Sunday night, the waves of nausea turned into vomiting throughout the night. Diarrhea was next. It’s Monday morning, and I’m still vomiting. I threw the bottle out, there’s no way I’d continue taking that horrid stuff. Did it help my UTI? Who cares... I’ve never been so sick to my stomach in my life. Nothing is worth the misery I experienced last night."
