For Atrial Fibrillation "Have Afib for 15 years. Started on sotalol 3 months ago. Feel better now, but it took 2 months to get used to it. Many new side effects, but then they mostly went away. Had 3 ablations, a pacemaker, and paddles once. 64 years old and mostly in good shape."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Personally, I had the worst experience with this drug. All of the symptoms I experienced. I felt as if I was going to die. Cardiologists wouldn't listen. I was hospitalized. Until an internist appeared in my hospital room. He changed sotalol and a statin: one drug and warfarin. It did the trick."

Sotalol for Atrial Fibrillation "Sotalol slowed my heart rate and seemed to prevent afib. Then, after more than 3 years of no problems taking 40 mg x 2 per day (80 total), I started getting weird anxiety attacks. Trying to stop the drug was a nightmare because it sent my fight-or-flight reaction into overdrive. The cardiologist seemed to think that stopping the drug quickly would be fine, it wasn't. I learned that beta blockers help prevent the activation of fight-or-flight, and some people get a huge rebound effect when stopping beta blockers. Trying bisoprolol and metoprolol tartrate instead didn't help in the long run. If I could re-do my life, I would have never taken a job that prevents you from sleeping from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am. Always stick to that sleep schedule, exercise for 30 mins a day, eat a more balanced diet, and never take a beta blocker unless it was strictly necessary. I'm writing this in the hopes that it will help someone else. If you take this, it's really important that you take it at the same time each day."

Sotalol for Ventricular Arrhythmia "Tried on multiple combinations. Cardioversion only lasted 5 days. Multaq is ridiculously expensive and ineffective. Spent 3 days in the hospital and with sotalol converted within 2 weeks. Sinus for almost years and off the drug for 6 months. After a walk on a hot day, afib and after 3 doses back in sinus. Had not had much fluid. Need to be sure to stay hydrated. Sinus 2 months again. Cannot walk more than 10 feet when in afib, so great to be back in sinus. On Eliquis and wish they would make it generic since approved in 2018 and making almost 5 billion a year off patients ($1600 a month)."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Was diagnosed with AFIB and SVT while pregnant (age 33) with my second child. Was put on bisoprolol, I did not take it because of the side effects on my baby. After delivery, my condition got worse. I tried bisoprolol, it didn't work. Had an ablation, it worked for about a week, then I was back in the ER. My heart was shocked three times in one visit, it didn't work. I was injected with Procardia to bring my heart back to normal. Tried sotalol after that episode, it didn't work. Had my second ablation, it helped. Was told I had a TIA during another ER visit and was put on amiodarone for four months, which I quit as the side effects were horrible. Had a third ablation, pulmonary vein ablation, it helped. I was on sotalol 40 mg. It helped. Visited the ER after walking a 5K marathon. The fourth PVA worked! On sotalol :)"

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "Did not correct premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). Doctors said it has improved, but it doesn't feel like it. Side effects I have experienced include dizziness when standing, bad taste, indigestion, and blurry vision. Still have PVCs that are debilitating."

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "I've been on this medication for 5-6 years. It's true my energy level is not what it used to be when I was younger, however, at 70 years old, I realize I was going to have to live with a new set of circumstances. Things change, life changes. My doctor added hydrochlorothiazide (water pill), and I no longer have water retention. I adjusted my lifestyle, take my time more, walk a little slower. Gained some weight, but switched to a non-GMO, non-gluten diet, walk every day, and lost the extra weight. No more knee buckling, faints, sleepless nights with rapid and uneven heart pounding, anxiety, or trips to the ER. Have also found the original white pill works better than the blue generic. The blue seems to have less original medication in it. I find I can live with a slower heart rate and lower blood pressure, but also added a protein drink and use a supplement in a bottle of water that contains electrolytes."

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "When I first started taking 80 mg a day, I felt better, but after a month, it's ruining my life. Constant headaches, constant nausea. Diarrhea, extreme dizziness, weakness, headaches, depression, probably from all these negative side effects. This drug literally just sucks the life right out of me. Very unhappy me! I'm so sad!"

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "I was on Sotalol (generic) for 2 weeks. In that time, I took two bad falls. The drug caused serious peripheral neuropathy in my lower legs. Off the drug, the P.N. disappeared. For me, this drug was a disaster."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Had a double coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) on May 17 due to 3 major arteries blocked around the heart. Never had any symptoms before the op except shortness of breath on stair climbing. Nice steady heart rate around 56 resting and BP 130/75. I'm a 61-year-old Type 1 diabetic. Since my op, I have been into A&E 4 times with tachycardia and AF, and for the last 10 weeks have been in AF or sinus with ectopics. I was prescribed bisoprolol after my op, but I felt it was not working as my heart rate was way too low. Started taking sotalol today and after 2 tablets I can honestly say I feel much better. More regular heartbeat, less thumping, and less pain in my legs and feet. Hope it continues, but so far a better experience."

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "I have been taking sotalol for about 15 years after I had heart bypass surgery. My problems are PVCs and tachycardia. Sotalol controls these symptoms very well, plus eases chest pains which I occasionally get from exertion. The light blue tablets work best for me. The Apotex brand doesn't last long enough. A therapeutic dose of sotalol should last up to 12 hours. The light blue elongated tablets stamped B104 work best for me."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Been taking 120 mg twice a day for years and have tried many others. Had around 8 cardioversions and 4 ablations. Very few episodes since sotalol. Also have my 3rd dual chamber ICD in 15 years. 68 and walk 4 miles a day and feel pretty darn good. A little tired from time to time, but am used to it. Good drug!"

For Atrial Fibrillation "Sotalol steals your life. The side effects are horrendous. These drug companies should state more about these pills that are dished out on a day-to-day basis, as well as the doctors that prescribe them. I understand what suits one person doesn't suit the next. In black and white on the box, they should state they destroy your immune system."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I’m 65, and I admitted myself to the ER with a rapid heart rate for no apparent reason and AF indicated by my Apple Watch. A cardio version put it back into sinus rhythm the next day. I’ve been on sotalol 40 mg twice a day now for two months. My heart now hums, and my heart rate has been in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. No side effects that I have noticed. Other than having to score the 80 mg tablets in half, the drug is easy to take."

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "Not good. I was on Tikosyn and had no side effects after adjusting in a week or so several years ago. Sotalol has done a number on me. I was good before switching to it 2 1/2 months ago. My stomach is a mess with pain, bloating, and excessive gas. I have trouble thinking with a moderate headache. I feel like I am in a fog. My ears have always had ringing or tinnitus, but it’s louder now. It’s all starting to depress me."

Sotalol for Atrial Flutter "I have Myasthenia gravis. Normally well controlled. An infusion of sotalol immediately set off a myasthenic crisis. It also counteracted almost everything I was taking. Heart rate went to 40 and leveled off at 46. BP went to 226/120. Diaphragm was paralyzed. Thirty minutes later, my blood sugar went to 226. No spontaneous respirations. All this with only 1/4 dose. I had to use a BiPAP for the next several days."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Been taking Sotalol (80mg/bid) for two years for Afib (symptomatic). Not noticing any side effects at all. Occasionally tired, but being 75, perhaps normal. Also on blood thinner, of course. As my heart rate is normally low and Sotalol can lower it more, have a pacemaker to maintain bottom rate at 60. Doing fine with that. Can't say it has eliminated Afib episodes, but they seem manageable and spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. Very pleased with it."

"Seems to have worked in getting rid of most of the hard-feeling PVCs I've had. It took 5 days. However, the downside for me seems to be the swing into major depression and shortness of breath or a feeling of having shallow breath to work with. Making me tired. This was on 80 mg a day taken at night."

For Ventricular Arrhythmia "Sotalol Sandoz – A lifesaver for me. I have been using Sotalol Sandoz for over 5 years now, and I can confidently say it is the only medication of its kind that truly works for me. Unlike other brands I’ve tried, Sotalol Sandoz does not cause the painful side effects I previously experienced—especially muscle stiffness and hamstring tears, which were a constant issue before I made the switch. Since starting this medication, my condition has been stable, and I’ve been able to maintain a much better quality of life. It’s become an essential part of my daily routine, and I genuinely hope it remains available on the market. Products like this are rare, and when you find something that works without compromising your well-being, it makes all the difference. I’m extremely grateful for Sandoz and this product. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a dependable version of sotalol with minimal side effects. — A very satisfied long-term user."

For Atrial Fibrillation "In one week, I went from a heart rate of 98 to 52. Some days, I ran in the 40's. My blood pressure became very low. I was taken off it after one week trial. It had no effect whatsoever on my atrial fibrillation."
