Selsun Blue (selenium sulfide) "Allergist suggested I use for 2 weeks, then go to once or twice a week. Well, the condition returns and returns and the horrid smell has gotten into everything. The sickening smell is in my jetted tub, towels, shirts, and my neck sweat smells like it."

"I was prescribed this selenium sulfide lotion to treat an itchy scalp. I used it exactly as directed and within one wash, I noticed an extreme amount of hair shedding. It looked like about one week's worth of hair loss all at once. It has been 3 days, and I am still experiencing hair loss. I knew hair loss could be a side effect, but I had no idea it could happen this quickly or be this bad. Also, the texture of my hair has changed after using this shampoo / lotion and it smells awful. The smell sticks to everything."

"So after 15 years of unsuccesful fights against this serborrheic dermatitis, I found a way, the 5 min shampoo does not work, I use a surfers hat or swimming hat with selsun rubbed in for 2 hours with vaseline, then washed out, now all good, but need this every 3 days and no flakes AT ALL, But it must be SD or Malassezia you tackling cause I was never totally sure it was SD or psorisis, Yes 2 hours all gone for days! Well Thats my remedy and it did the trick"

"This dandruff shampoo is AMAZING. I have scalp psoriasis. I've tried ALL other dandruff shampoos. I even elocon lotion. But no matter HOW much dandruff shampoo or elocon I use, I STILL have a lot of flakes, even after a good hair wash. BUT I tried this shampoo, & even after just ONE application, when I got out of the shower, for the first time in YEARS, absolutely NO flakes. Not even one. Brilliant product. I LOVE IT"

"I've tried it several times, once it was prescribed for my scalp as a shampoo, now it's been prescribed as a face wash (it's still a shampoo) twice a day Mon - Fri. I'll be honest here, I've got severe flakes from my goatee and eye brows as well as my scalp but this while it may work, smells so awful that it makes me want to vomit, it's kind of like rotten egg smell. The only saving grace is that usually you are the only person that can smell it. I just asked a co worker to smell my face, from one foot away she didn't smell anything but from 3 inches away she did and said it smelled like an acne lotion she use to use (selenium sulfide) so that's a saving grace. The stuff I use is basically just a stronger version of the over the counter Selsun Blue shampoo, which also I've noted this smell even after thoroughly rinsing my hair but not quite as strong. I can't use either, the smell is just too much for me to handle."
