For Bacterial Vaginosis "When I took this medication Solosec, I mixed it in yogurt, and it was absolutely disgusting, but no big deal. Shortly after taking, I began to get hot and had stomach pains. I hadn’t had any alcohol at all before or while taking this medicine, and I was still quite nauseous to the point I almost threw up. I missed work after the first day. Two days into the medicine, I broke out in the worst rash on my chest, stomach, neck, arm, and thigh. I suppose it’s safe to say that I am having an allergic reaction. I am on day 3, and there’s no telling what’s to come today. The medicine itself worked for my BV, but I definitely won’t take this again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "So my Dr. recommended I mix it with a drinkable yogurt, and it was fine. I added some honey to it just in case, but it went down effortlessly. I tasted nothing nasty, and all 4 ounces went down without a single gag. I've used this for my recurring BV, and it's the only thing that cures it. I usually need a Diflucan a few days later, so my ob/gyn just prescribes them both: Solosec, then 3 days later a Diflucan. A week after the Solosec, I'm back to normal. No odor or discharge to be found. And I'm a drinker who drank the day of taking it, immediately before and about 2 hours after. No nausea or vomiting, and it still cured my BV. After 2 years of back-and-forth treatments, it was a blessing to find something that actually ended the issue. Now I use 1 applicator of Metrogel weekly, and it's been 5 months of no BV. I'm trying for a baby, so it's important to be able to have sex and not deal with the odor afterwards."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Honestly, this medication is a godsend for me. I struggle with BV almost every time I get my period, and I felt like when I wasn’t bleeding, I was taking giant horse pills to try to clear up my BV. The traditional medicine made me so sick. I was constantly nauseous, which would affect my ability to go out with friends, exercise, work, etc. Not to mention constantly missing out on social events because you can’t drink three days before or after taking these meds. The one dose made me feel like I got my life back. I hate how expensive it is, but maybe one day insurance will cover it for me!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "The taste was so horrible. It has been 48 hours since I took this medicine, and I still feel horrible nausea and weakness. Not to mention the horrible taste that’s still in my mouth. I will never take this again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took this medication 6 days ago and am unfortunately still having a really strange side effect of feeling like I’m sucking on a sour penny all the time. My tongue is yellow and tastes horribly sour and bitter, especially after eating a meal. My doctor's office has not heard of this as a side effect yet, but hopefully I’m not alone... I experienced nausea, fatigue, and a very strange bout of (oddly painless) diarrhea on day 4 that snuck up on me out of nowhere after eating a poke bowl from a place I always eat poke from with no issues - perhaps this medication and raw fish do not mix well? Anyway, I’d never take it again due to the weird yellow tongue, bitter taste, and dry mouth. As far as the BV symptoms go, I’m not really sure if it cured it. I’ve never had BV before and I originally went in for a yeast infection and got the result of yeast and BV to treat. Good luck to everyone taking it for the first time."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This was an absolute nightmare. It says you can drink with it, so after 12 hours, I had one drink and threw up for 30 hours straight. Could not eat at all, had to take off work, and wasn’t keeping any fluid, so I had to get an emergency IV. I missed my flight and hotel I paid for that was for the day after. It feels like pure poison. They only give everyone that $25 card because it costs 60 cents to make, and we’re all human guinea pigs for this company. Absolutely despicable. Do not take this!! It will screw you up for a whole weekend. Also, keep in mind that the people rating this above a 4, even said they just took it and will see what happens!! Didn’t even get the bad end of the stick because my symptoms started 12 hours after."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Do not take this medication, especially if you drink. Even one alcoholic beverage. I took it 7 days ago, and every time I had an alcoholic beverage, I felt so nauseous, and I threw up a couple of times. Here I am, 7 days later with nausea and vomiting."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "OMG, I took this medication at 2 pm with yogurt, read up on whether I’d be able to drink on it, and what I read said there were no issues with drinking alcohol. So, later that evening, at around 6 pm, I had some champagne and a sandwich... about 4 drinks total. I went to bed at 10 pm, and by 12 am, I woke up with a strong desire to throw up-tried to breathe it away and no success, so I had to run to the bathroom because it went from a maybe I’m going to throw up... to a, I’m going to throw up right now! After vomiting, I thought all was over-BOY, was I wrong! I continued to vomit about every 30 mins to every hour until 4 am!!!! It was a nightmare! I continued to vomit even when I had nothing left inside of me-just dry heaving, it was so awful! I hate this medication-not sure if it worked as I just took it two days ago... but I’ve been feeling weak (like when you get the flu) since then-and I’m very physically active and healthy."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have struggled with recurring BV for the last 5 or more years. I've used every medication under the sun and was excited about a new one-day treatment. Insurance didn't cover it, so I spent $200 and had to wait 3 days for the pharmacy to get it in stock. I mixed it with vanilla yogurt, and the taste was pretty intolerable, but I got it down quick and hoped for the best. The next day I had two beers and vomited. I had headaches, extreme nausea, dizziness, and hot flashes for the entire three days following. I don't tolerate oral metronidazole well either, so I would have dealt with the side effects if it had actually worked 100%. I'm on day four since taking it now, and the BV has improved, but I can tell it isn't gone completely. Rather than waiting for it to come back with a vengeance, I had to start with the gel, which I don't like, but at least it works. I wouldn't take this medication again because of the high cost, lack of availability, taste, and I suffered for days and still got stuck with the gel."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took this medication yesterday. It was horrible. I mixed it with pudding and tried the first spoon and was almost gagging just trying to swallow it. I ended up drawing up the rest in a 20 ml oral syringe and took it like that. It was much easier to tolerate that way. I felt a little nauseated, but I was okay, so I thought. By the end of the night, I had a very metallic taste. I went to work today, I felt okay. Then, around 10 a.m., I developed a severe headache, nausea, bloated, and dizzy. I had so much indigestion, it was horrible. I ended up leaving work early because I felt so sick. I came home, took Pepto and Nexium, and fell asleep. I just woke up, I feel a little better, still bloated, metallic taste, and a very sour stomach. I feel like BV is slightly improved already, but it’s the burning in my stomach and taste that I can’t get over. FYI, I’m not a complainer. I have been through a lot of health problems and have taken a lot of medications, but this is honestly the worst medication I have ever taken."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I got BV for the first time and got prescribed this stuff. I was kinda nervous going into it, but I got my dairy-free yogurt and poured the packet in the cup. I wasn’t sure if I should mix it and realized I shouldn’t after my first bite. It was extremely bitter for me, and after the third bite, I started to gag, and my body rejected the idea of swallowing. I haven’t thrown up in 12 years (it’s an irrational fear), and I was just praying I wouldn’t throw it up. I got most of it down, but there were still some beads left, so hopefully, I ate enough to cure my symptoms."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I wish I had read these reviews prior to taking this medicine! I, like so many others, was just desperate for something that would actually work to cure my BV after 2 years. HOWEVER... I took it at 10 a.m. Fine all day until I had an alcoholic drink at night. Got so nauseous I went home and to bed. Woke up feeling bad. I haven’t been able to leave the couch. Still feeling nauseous and blah. Guess I was a lucky one since I didn’t vomit. But I can’t imagine this continuing for days. Not to mention it was the worst tasting thing, and I struggled to get it down in the 30 minutes. My BV seems a bit better today. But they need to market this truthfully. It DOES change the taste of your food. And is NOT alcohol friendly. Crazy to say I’d rather have metronidazole."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "The taste wasn't great, but definitely manageable. I don't know why it's marketed that one can drink while taking it, because my experience and other reviews (which I should have read ahead of time) say otherwise. Took it on Christmas Eve, had a few glasses of wine and spent the entire night and next day vomiting profusely. After about 2 days, the nausea went away. However, about a week later, I'm now feeling some itching and discomfort down there. Apparently, another possible side effect is a yeast infection, but I'm praying the vaginal infection gods will take pity on me and spare me..."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was told to eat this in applesauce since I am vegan. It tastes horrible! The first day was fine, but I woke up the second day absolutely nauseous. I don’t drink, so it wasn’t from that. I was sick all day. Then, the day after that, I had terrible pelvic pain to where it hurt so bad to move, and I just felt terrible."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have taken this medicine on two different occasions, and they worked for me both times. I mixed it in with applesauce and swallowed it without taking any bites. I also took it on a full stomach, so it would prevent me from being nauseous just in case. Other than the unpleasant taste of the medication, I was absolutely fine. Sometimes you can work yourself up over reading other people's reviews, as everybody's bodies will not have the same reaction to a medication. On the other hand, I have tried other medications like metronidazole, which gave me horrible headaches along with making me feel extremely nauseous, so imagine dealing with that for 7 days straight. So with that being said, I would definitely recommend Solosec to anyone. This one-time dose is amazing, but the choice is yours."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I just took this packet about 20 minutes ago, and I will say the taste is NOT pleasant! I took it with applesauce but HIGHLY recommend chocolate pudding to best mask the taste. As soon as I finished my bowl of applesauce, I felt nauseous and had a headache. 10 mins later, it's all gone, it really is a mind-over-matter type of situation. Also, DO NOT DRINK!! I am 99% sure you will vomit. I read all the reviews, and everyone who drank (even a little) threw up for hours. Yes, it says you can drink, but why even risk it since you're on an antibiotic??? ALSOOOOO, this drug is EXPENSIVE, like $350 expensive, my insurance brought it down to $113. Thennnnnn I found a coupon on the Solosec website that brought it down to $45!! I wish you all the luck with these meds. Also praying I don't get sick, cause vomit is NOT my thing!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "This medicine was supposed to be the more convenient option. I went to 3 pharmacies and had to wait 4 days to get the medicine. Then I mixed it with a chunky yogurt to hopefully mask the texture of the granular medication, but I was wrong. Woah, the taste was so bitter. I read reviews and decided to add honey. I kept adding honey until it was okay enough to get it down and chase it with lemonade. This helped a little. Still very nauseous."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Do not under any circumstances be convinced by your doctor to take this medicine! Like others, I was gagging the entire time I was attempting to finish my pudding. I was also very lightheaded and nauseous afterward. I had diarrhea for the rest of that day. I emailed the company to ensure that there were no other contraindications I should be aware of. I mean, I felt terrible! It’s been longer than a week, and they never got back to me. Obviously, I called my doctor that day, knowing Solosec reps wouldn’t reply ASAP. They told me to wait it out and call back if severe symptoms persisted. Okay, sure. To my surprise, they never replied at all. I continued having symptoms of upset stomach/nausea the next day. This is a new drug that’s being pushed to patients. I read the fine print stating that they have not ruled out carcinogenic effects. Lol, wow. I always take the reviews of drugs I see online with a grain of salt. This time I didn’t even check the reviews, and I paid for it."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took the med 4 days ago with Chobani yogurt and did not find the taste intolerable and finished the dose in less than a minute. I started to feel nauseous the next day but did not vomit at all. The second day, I felt very weak and had no appetite all day. I found gingersnaps to calm my stomach some. Then, the last two days, I have forced myself to eat as I get very weak if I don’t, but have no appetite and energy levels well under par. I have not consumed any alcohol and still have nausea, as others have stated. Also, the area felt somewhat irritated while I sat in a chair. I don't know if this med has effectively treated the infection, but I would not opt to take this product again as it has affected my normal quality of life."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Around 2 pm, I sprinkled this on top of some jello, wrong call! But then I mixed in some yogurt and was good. I know that normally you’re not supposed to drink while taking antibiotics, but there was no warning against this, and since I’d never had medicine like this, I thought maybe it was a new thing. Went out for daiquiris around 4 pm. Came home, slept off that daiquiri, and then around 11 pm started feeling very nauseous. Then began vomiting everywhere. After my stomach was empty, it started out the other end. It’s now 10 am the next day, and the smell of food is making me semi-nauseous. But I’m taking very small bites of toast, hoping that will absorb any leftover alcohol and calm my stomach."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I took Solosec in yogurt, and it still had an awful taste to it. I read there were no contraindications to drinking alcohol on this, so I had a beer. But that evening, I did not feel well: abdominal pain and nausea. I thought it may be the alcohol. But every time I eat, my stomach blows up, and I feel off. I’m very fatigued and unable to do my normal activities. I can’t wait for this to get out of my system. I can’t tell yet if my BV symptoms are gone, they were found incidentally on a regular pap."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I have taken this medication twice. Some of the reviews seem to be dramatic. I took this medication both times with yogurt. The taste is not the best but what do you expect it to taste like. Both times it fixed my BV. The first time was 2 years ago. I decided to take this medication because I was going out of town and was told by my gyno I could drink on it. I took it on a Friday night, had a margarita or two Saturday afternoon. I took a nap and woke up nauseous and throwing up. I took it 4 days ago, had some wine yesterday and have felt completely fine and my symptoms are gone. It was $75 after insurance, I found a coupon on Solosec’s website that brought it to $25"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I put this on top of yogurt and ate in a few bites. The taste wasn’t enjoyable but not the worst thing in the world. It is 4 days after taking the med, and I feel some relief. I will say I did have two glasses of wine last night (52 hrs after taking the medicine) and had some nausea after. I’ve had a racing heart rate every morning since taking this medication. Not sure if this is a side effect or not. Would not recommend if you have heart problems."

It’s been about 6 days since I took the medication, and I still have an awful taste in my mouth. I was nauseous for about 4 days, and my head felt like it was in a fog for 5 days. I don’t know if it’s helped my BV yet, but the side effects were so bad...(I seemed to experience them all). I will never take this drug again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Was prescribed this Solosec for the first case of BV. The taste was disgusting, like most are saying, but I didn't have as much trouble getting it down like others. It did leave a lingering bad taste in my mouth, which is still there a day after taking it. Experienced a slight headache and some dizziness on the first day after taking it, but nothing horrible. But that night after drinking two beers, I woke up about 4 hours later with a horrible stomachache and nausea. I don't usually have reactions to medicines, so this was not normal for me at all. If the BV does come back, I will definitely ask for a different med."
