"First of all, I’d like to say, why can’t people give REAL HONEST REVIEWS??? I just took Solosec for the first time. I mixed it in yogurt, and you can’t even taste it. Also, from the reviews that are on here, WHY WOULD YOU BE CHEWING YOGURT???? The granules are super tiny, there’s no need to resist the urge to chew. Also, just don't drink alcohol when you take antibiotics. Anyway, the stuff WORKS, symptoms went away in 24 hours, but it will be fully cured in 5 days."

"I have been suffering from BV for 3 years on and off. I've been on Flagyl, Clindesse, probiotics, Boric Acid suppositories, and nothing has worked in the long term. Every time my period came back, BV was back. I finally was told there is a new FDA-approved medication I could try, and I was more than happy to give it a chance. Honestly, the taste really isn't that bad. Reading some of these reviews, it's as if people have never had anything bitter in their mouths before. If you've ever drank Chinese herbal medicine, this is nothing to complain about. I had no side effects either, and the BV cleared up the next day. Since then, I got my period, and BV still hasn't come back. Fingers crossed it continues to stay that way!"

"This medicine tasted fine. I didn’t gag. I didn’t vomit. I didn’t have any trouble eating it with chocolate pudding. 30 seconds and done. So far, no side effects. After reading all these negative reviews and becoming fearful, I decided to post this. Seriously, not a big deal at all to take this med. I don’t know if the medication works 100% because it takes 4 days. I will add it is crazy expensive without insurance ($300), but a manufacturer coupon brings it to $75."

"I was lucky and got this for free as a sample from my Dr. So even if it didn't work, I wasn't out money. I took this early, 6 a.m. on a Friday (I also chose this day because I knew I wouldn't be having drinks in the evening). Mixed it in with some yogurt (put the yogurt in a bigger bowl to make sure I had room to really stir it all up). The taste was honestly not that bad. I just made sure to swallow the whole spoonful, and I had it gone in less than 10 minutes. Felt fine all day and noticed results later in the day. I believe I had a mild form of BV, but I could definitely tell a difference. Felt fine the entire day and also the next day. I did have two glasses of wine the following day in the evening (approximately 36 hours after taking the medication), and I did not experience any vomiting like previous reviewers had. It is now Monday, and all of my BV symptoms are gone, and I am finally comfortable again. Fingers crossed it works long-term and BV does not return."

"The taste isn’t good, but not horrible. Like crushed aspirin - I mixed it with chocolate pudding. Totally doable! So far, it’s been about 12 hours and no side effects. Mind over matter, folks, is a lot of it. Stay off the internet and stop letting the power of suggestion creep in your head. This is much better than a 7-day pill or those nasty creams and gels!"

"This is my first time using Solosec. The pharmacist emphasized NOT crushing or chewing the granules. I poured a bit on top of each spoonful of applesauce so that I could just swallow it immediately with no chewing (plus, by not mixing it into the applesauce, it didn't have to touch my tongue, so no bitter taste!!!) I'm making sure not to drink any alcohol this week, even though they say it is okay to. The next day, odor was worse and possible yeast infection...but 2 days later, there seems to be a sign of hope with no odor and unsure about the yeast infection still. But here is something important for those with recurring BV issues... Get checked for ureaplasma!!! It's not as common, but could be what is making BV not go away, it's a different type of antibiotic that needs to be used. Good luck to all with this mentally draining issue!"

"I don’t tend to leave reviews, but here I am. After reading pages of horror stories, I had to weigh in. Here is my story. Mixed it in yogurt and powered through in 4 bites. THERE IS A REASON YOU ARE INSTRUCTED TO MIX INTO YOGURT, PUDDING, OR APPLESAUCE. They don’t require chewing. Do not, and I’ll repeat, DO NOT bite the granules. Do whatever you can to just swallow. I bit one towards the end, accidentally, and that was the first hint of bad taste. JUST DON’T BITE THEM. It’s been 12+ hours now? Still fine. So far, so good. No idea if this will actually fix my BV, but after being terrified for weeks, staring at that innocent packet, I feel compelled to share my NON-horrible experience with ingesting Solosec."

"I have chronic BV/yeast infections, and this is the only drug that works. Within the first 6 hours, I already can tell a difference in discharge/itchiness/smell, and within 24 hours, I have total relief. HOWEVER, I MUST warn anyone who is going to take this drug: DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL. The packaging says it's OK, but it is a horrible experience. I drank a glass of wine 6 hours after taking the medication, and I was violently ill - vomiting and nauseous for 10 hours. I was vomiting up chemicals and bile - it is NOT worth it."

"Ladies, stop sticking stuff in your vaginas. I suffered from BV for 15 years and took one dose of Solosec (yes, it tastes horrible, but I could care less if it cured the problem). It's been 2 weeks, and it worked. I have read every piece of literature on the subject, from biofilms to enzymes to probiotics to peroxide. Do not cheat yourself. You can ask for a coupon from the health provider, the medicine is expensive without a coupon, but with a coupon, it's only 25 bucks. I repeat, stop putting all that stuff in your vaginas."

"I decided to write a positive review because I always get scared away by negatives, and then I remember, most people don’t write reviews when they’re satisfied! So this is the second time I’ve taken Solosec for BV. I get BV every few months. Yes, the taste is bad, but I just added some cinnamon to my applesauce and swallowed big spoonfuls, and within a minute, I was done. I have a lot of health issues, although I’m young, and most of them are digestive/gastrointestinal, so certain side effects are a concern for me (diarrhea, nausea, etc.). Last time I took it, I had horrible cramping pretty soon after taking it and had a couple of episodes with diarrhea before it settled down. I was fine. This time, no side effects so far (took it 5 hours ago). It cost me $25 last time with a coupon and $10 this time with my insurance, which seems odd to me, but doesn’t matter. It cured every symptom in 24 hours last time, so I’m hopeful for this time too!!"

"Hear me out! I’ve recently been suffering from BV for the past two months. Did two rounds of Flagyl, and the symptoms didn’t get better. Had an appointment yesterday, and she recommended I try Solosec (with applesauce) and wash with Cetaphil gentle cleanser. Everything has done a complete 180, and it hasn’t even been 24 hours. I honestly couldn’t taste it. So I’m not sure what everyone else is experiencing, but I do recommend giving this a try. Odor has drastically subsided, I still have some discharge, but barely any more itching, and it’s been under 24 hours. Insane! This stuff works! Looking for a full recovery with the drug. Also, the coupon is reusable, so make sure you don’t throw it away. Good luck!"

"I took Solosec yesterday for bacterial vaginitis, within 5 minutes after opening the package with applesauce, as instructed. I hurried up and gulped it all in 3 tablespoons without chewing. So far, I have had no side effects whatsoever. 24 hours later, there's absolutely no smell nor discharge, so far, it seems as if it's effective to do its job, but I'll give it a week before I give a final decision on whether it has truly cured me or not. Keeping fingers crossed."

"I took this medication, Solosec, on a Monday, it is now Friday. Yes, the taste was horrible, but I managed by eating it fast and drinking water. Within 24 hours, the smell and discharge were gone. I read the reviews about staying away from alcohol and do so for 5 days. I drank 2 good glasses of wine tonight. I don’t feel like throwing up, but I definitely feel like something is rumbling. I thought 5 days would be okay, but maybe I should have tried 7. All in all, this is a great product that I would recommend."

"I was literally petrified to take this after reading the reviews on the medicine. I already suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, so I literally thought taking this I was going to die, lol. Well, first of all, the taste really isn't horrible! Obviously, Solosec isn't delicious, but I took it with cinnamon applesauce, and only a couple bites tasted slightly like aspirin. I have had to drink Suprep before a colonoscopy, and let me tell you, that is disgusting and impossible to drink. This was a breeze. As far as side effects, the only thing I had was a slight headache when I woke up. I also suffer from IBS, and this did not cause any stomach issues at all. Everyone is different, so don't let the reviews scare you like they did me. The pharmacist told me to just make sure I ate before taking it."

"Best ever! I take it, and it clears everything up within 24 hours! It's bitter getting it down with applesauce or yogurt, but just bite the bullet and get it down the hatch. No nasty side effects and a one-dose treatment! Love this medicine. Make sure to get a coupon from your doctor or website, it's crazy pricey if you don't have a coupon."

"I, like everyone, read the reviews and was terrified to take this. On Monday morning, I sprinkled this on top of my yogurt and did not mix it in. I then consumed it as quickly as possible (fear of the taste) and then finished the rest of my yogurt. I swallowed quickly to not let it linger in my mouth and followed it by drinking an entire bottle of water. It wasn’t the worst thing, and I had no aftertaste. I didn’t have any side effects. I also didn’t drink any alcohol. It’s now Friday, and I can say that this has cured my BV and would definitely take it again. It says that it is out of your system in 4 days, but I’m still going to wait one more day before having any alcohol. Best of luck, and I think the reviews are the worst part and give you anxiety about nothing."

"I took this on Thursday morning, definitely gross tasting and had a minor headache and a little bit of nausea, but nothing crazy. I avoided alcohol because of the reviews. It is now Monday evening and I had my first beer, and I don't feel sick or anything. It says on the website that it stays in your body for four days, so I think don't drink for four days just to be safe! All in all, it worked for me and smell, etc., was gone after 24 hours. Pretty pleased with the meds."

"After reading so many reviews and horror stories of this drug, I was very skeptical, but decided I wanted something to knock a light case of BV out quickly, because I can’t stand taking antibiotic pills for a week or more. I just took Solosec today, probably around 3 hours ago, and sprinkled it over some plain vanilla yogurt. The taste definitely isn’t pleasant, but it’s definitely bearable. I scoffed it down without even giving it time to sit in my mouth. I’m avoiding drinking for a few days and have some Monistat on standby just in case a YI decides to come into play. But so far, so good, I will give an update in the next day or so. Wish me luck!"

"2 years to the day, I have had over 12 cases of BV. It's really mind over matter. I have suffered so much that I would and have done just about everything! Just pick your favorite yogurt, one that is healthier than your typical Yoplait. Also, it says you may take this with pudding. I didn't expect for this to taste good, but it's been about 20 minutes since I took this, and so far I'm okay. Ohhh, and ironic, I HATE yogurt. It did taste bad, but I think it's because I couldn't stand the yogurt. I'd do this over having BV and the recurrent yeast infections I get from the antibiotics. Seriously! Tell yourself you'll be okay and don't give power to your feeling of a side effect. IT'S NOT THAT BAD!! Good luck to you all, I hope I give you girls a little better hope and less fear of this drug."

"Yes-definitely tasted gross, but well worth it for the fast-acting treatment. I sprinkled it over applesauce and was surprised by how much was in such a little packet. It was hard to resist the urge to chew, especially with the applesauce, so I washed it down with water. I ate as fast as I could and probably finished the treatment within 30 seconds. Twenty-four hours later, and the majority of my symptoms have been relieved. I've had BV several times before, and it always presents itself with unbearable itching (my worst symptom), which sometimes is not relieved with other treatments. The itching relieved itself within a few hours and no sign of it the next day. My only complaint is that I had a slight stomach ache yesterday and a metallic taste in my mouth since taking it 24 hours ago. Hoping this relieves itself in a few days, but I would still rather have the mild metallic taste in comparison to the itching. Otherwise, HIGHLY RECOMMEND for fast relief. Who cares about not being able to drink!"

"At my annual pap, my gynecologist tested me for BV. It came back positive, so she prescribed me Solosec. Unfortunately, I had to pay $75 through the Kroger pharmacy, as my insurance did not cover it. Based on previous reviews, I was nervous to take it. The taste is not great, and it's definitely bitter. I mixed it in 3/4 cup of applesauce with cinnamon. And then when I finished it, I ate more applesauce with cinnamon. I found that to take away the bitterness quickly. It's like when you let a pill sit on your tongue too long, it gets super bitter, but goes away in a few minutes. And within a couple of days, my symptoms had cleared. I would take it again if needed because it worked so well. I would definitely recommend!"

"I suffered from recurrent BV for almost 5 years. I mean getting it almost every month and trying EVERYTHING. After every period, it would come back, and after having sex, it would come back. I tried the gel inserts and the pills, which taste horrible and leave a horrible taste in your mouth the whole 7-10 days. A year and a half ago, a new doctor prescribed this, and it was life-changing. I took it with applesauce. The taste is horrific, I gagged and had to chase it with juice so I wouldn’t vomit, but once it’s down, no side effects. And I was free from BV for a year and a half, the longest I’ve been BV-free since I was 19!!! I just got it again, which I’m okay with since it has been so freaking long since the last time, and I requested this. My insurance doesn’t cover it, but if you visit the website, you can find coupons. I found one where it was only $75, seems like a lot, but I promise it is sooooo worth it."

"I have heavily researched BV, which I have been plagued with for about 7 years now. No explanation from docs. Prescribed this, and the co-pay for Solosec was $100. But I was desperate. Mixed with a cup of applesauce, texture/taste was tolerable, took at 3 PM, by 6:30 PM the same night had a headache, also had 1.5 glasses of wine since trial studies showed no contraindication. By 9:30 PM I was nauseous. Then, 10:30 PM, puked. I felt fine afterward, was able to sleep all night and woke up fine. My symptoms have gone. I will update this review in a few months. I am hoping Solosec will cure my recurrent BV infections for good. Sick of living like this. Apparently, it is supposed to cure most drug-resistant BV cases. We’ll see. I can deal with a headache and puking for one night vs. having to take a 7-10 day antibiotic, get a yeast infection, can’t have a drink, all for BV to come back. Benefits outweigh risks in my opinion."

"I took the medicine 9/27/19. Whoever said that this medication doesn't change the taste of food needs to be fired. Well, I guess in a sense it doesn't. But the granules themselves taste horrific. Once I got past the initial urge to chew, swallowing about 6 tablespoons of yogurt, I made it through. I waited patiently for the nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, etc. Fortunately, I haven't experienced any of that as of yet. It's been 24 hours, and I already feel better. I will say that I didn't do what everyone else did and drink alcohol. Regardless of what the packet says, you should know better than to drink alcohol with an antibiotic. That being said, I'd much rather stomach this one-time nasty stuff than to take a pill twice a day for seven days."

"So, I’ve been struggling with recurring BV for about 6 years now. I would take medications, and BV would be back a week later. I’ve tried all types of home remedies, and nothing worked. So, my doctor prescribed me Solosec, and although the taste is not the best, it was manageable. I took it with strawberry apple sauce, and ladies, I have been BV-free for 3 months now. I’m able to have sex with my partner without a smell. I’ve been able to wear my undies without panty liners now, and I could really just cry right now how this stuff has worked after multiple doctor's appointments, one after another, and basically the same results. But I am so happy I finally found something that works."
