Solosec (secnidazole) "When I took this medication Solosec, I mixed it in yogurt and it was absolutely disgusting but no big deal. Shortly after taking I began to get hot and had stomach pains. I hadn’t had any alcohol at all before or while taking this medicine and I was still quite nauseous to the point I almost threw up. I missed work after the first day. Two days into the medicine I break out in the worst rash on my chest, stomach, neck, arm and thigh. I suppose it’s safe to say that I am having an allergic reaction. I am on day 3 and there’s no telling what’s to come today. The medicine itself worked for my BV but I definitely won’t take this again."

Solosec (secnidazole) "So my Dr. recommended I mix it with a drinkable yogurt and it was fine. I added some honey to it just in case but it went down effortlessly. I tasted nothing nasty and all 4 ounces went down with out a single gag. I've used this for my recurring BV and its the only thing that cures it. I usually need a Diflucan a few days later so my ob/gyn just prescribes then both. Solosec then 3 days later a Diflucan. A week after the Solosec I'm back to normal. No odor or discharge to be found. And I'm a drinker who drank the day of taking it immediately before and about 2 hours after. No nausea or vomiting and it still cured my BV. After 2 years of back and forth treatments it was a blessing to find something that actually ended the issue. Now I use 1 applicator of Metrogel weekly and its been 5 months of no BV. I'm trying for a baby so its important to be able to have sex and not deal with the odor afterwards."

Solosec (secnidazole) "So I only took 2 bites immediately vomited in my mouth, then I tried drinking (strawberry yoplait yogurt) it with a straw as far back in my throat to avoid hitting my tastebuds nope couldn't finish it. Now I'm trying to Google what happens if you don't finish the dosage. $25 with coupon. Can't say if it worked or not no major side effects. Took it around 5pm now its 8pm."

Solosec (secnidazole) "Like others, I am desperate to get rid of this BV I have been struggling with now for five years. Yes, that long. UGH. I agree that I thought I would throw it up. I took it last evening and was up a couple of times with upset stomach. I managed to keep it down. Took some Rolaids which did help. WHY do they make something so nasty? They could put it in a capsule, the taste is so bad. I am hoping it will work, guess it stays in your system for four days, we will see. Glad I had a $25 coupon from online. No matter what you take it with it is like tasting raw aspirin and the granules get stuck in your teeth. I looked on the instructions and they have really not had good good results...30% of patients have had side effects. We are guinea hens for this research. Let's hope our complaints reach the right ears. Icky stuff."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I have suffered with BV for 5 long months! I took every medication except this until yesterday morning! I accidentally drunk an alcoholic beverage yesterday evening and so far everything is good! This smell is gone my vagina feels good! I’m so excited thankful my new obgyn suggested I take this medication, although my insurance did not cover it and I had to pay $300! However I would gladly do it again! Health is wealth and so far the results are great!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "This was an absolute NIGHTMARE. It says you can drink with it, so after 12 hours I had one drink and threw up for 30 hours straight. Could not eat at all, had to take off work, and wasn’t keeping any fluid so I had to get an emergency IV. I missed my flight and hotel I paid for that was for the day after. It feels like pure poison. They only give everyone that $25 card because it costs 60 cents to make and we’re all human Guinea pigs for this company. Absolutely despicable Do not take this!! It will screw you up for a whole weekend. Also keep in mind that the people rating this above a 4, even said they just took it and will see what happens !! Didn’t even get the bad end of stick because my symptoms started 12 hours after."

Solosec (secnidazole) "The taste secnidazole is absolutely disgusting. I was gagging and dry heaving between bites but I managed to keep it down. After a day or two my BV was totally gone. It came back 2 months the later so I am giving it another try. This time I’ll be doing boric acid suppositories and taking probiotics made for vaginal health. I’m hoping it works as well the second time!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "I used this medicine last week and the taste is horrible, the whole time taking this medication with yogurt I was gagging!! But I was desperate to get rid of this recurring BV so I finished it. Omg it was the worst experience I had. I never had any allergic reaction towards any medication but this was horrifying. I vomited all night for 6 hours with no stop until I was ready to go to the emergency room. It didn't work for me because I start throwing it up 5 hours after taking the medication."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I paid $25 using coupon my doctor provided me. As she instructed, I mixed it with applesauce and didn’t chew and while not pleasant, got it down quickly. She also said no alcohol, which I’ve abided by today. I’ve had no side effects and the itching has stopped. So far, so good."

Solosec (secnidazole) "Took Solosec 2 days ago. This was my 4th round of antibiotic for my BV this time and no relief. I am so disappointed and upset that I can not find something that works. Took Clindamycin for 7 days, then 2 rounds of Tindamax- which actually has the worst side effects. Now the Solosec which does not seem to be working. I have been taking probiotics orally for 4 months and when I try vaginal probiotics it irritates the BV more. I'm at my wits end and super depressed about this."

Solosec (secnidazole) "OMG I took this medication at 2pm with yogurt, read up on whether I’d be able to drink on it and what I read said there were no issues with drinking alcohol. So later that evening at around 6pm I had some champagne and a sandwich... about 4 drinks total. I went to bed at 10pm and by 12am I woke up with a strong desire to throw up- tried to breathe it away and no success so I had to run to the bathroom because it went from a maybe I’m going to throw up... to a, I’m going to throw up right now! After vomiting I thought all was over- BOY was I wrong! I continued to vomit about every 30 mins to every hour until 4am!!!! It was a nightmare! I continued to vomit even when I had nothing left inside of me- just dry heaving it was so awful! I hate this medication- not sure if it worked as I just took it two days ago... but I’ve been feeling weak (like when you get the flu) since then- and I’m very physically active and healthy."

Solosec (secnidazole) "That went badly. After trying other BV treatments, my doctor prescribed Solosec. Insurance refused to cover it & the doctor's office and I battled w/them for a month before giving up - which was when I found out about the savings card on their website. Because my insurance rejected it, I wasn't eligible for the $25 but I did get it for $75, which was at least better than $389. Taking the medication was truly awful - it was the most bitter thing I've ever choked down. Fortunately I was reading these reviews as I took it so I avoided alcohol and didn't have any unpleasant side effects. (BTW, drug side effects need to be reported to the FDA, not here, for anyone to be able to see the FDA website. The kicker? It didn't work. I was just re-tested after not feeling much relief and it was still positive. Now we're looking at long-term management instead of a cure. Fantastic."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I have struggled with recurring BV for the last 5 or more years. I've used every medication under the sun and was excited about a new one-day treatment. Insurance didn't cover it so I spent $200 and had to wait 3 days for the pharmacy to get it in stock. I mixed with vanilla yogurt and the taste was pretty intolerable but I got it down quick and hoped for the best. The next day I had two beers and vomited. I had headaches, extreme nausea, dizziness and hot flashes for the entire three days following. I don't tolerate oral metronidazole well either, so I would have dealt with the side effects if it had actually worked 100%. I'm on day four since taking it now, and the BV has improved but I can tell it isn't gone completely. Rather than waiting for it to come back with a vengeance, I had to start with the gel, which I don't like, but at least it works. I wouldn't take this medication again because high cost, lack of availability, taste, and I suffered for days and still got stuck with the gel."

Solosec (secnidazole) "False advertising, you cannot drink on this without puking! I drink a little daily so I asked my doctor about a medicine that would not interact with alcohol, and she said this was it. Yet after one single screwdriver four hours later I vomited violently... plus the granules were absolutely disgusting, even with cherry applesauce. Plus, it’s so expensive and I am not even sure if I ingested all the medicine since I vomited four hours later! Argh!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took Solosec as prescribed about 1 hour ago, sprinkling it over a bowl of vanilla yogurt (many more granules than expected). I was not prepared for how bitter the taste was, I could not swallow it without gagging and holding my nose with each bite. I drizzled a heaping helping of honey in the yogurt, hoping it would cut the bitterness but it was still unbearable, so I blended the remainder into a smoothie with frozen bananas and some extra honey- To my surprise, this ended up making the taste even MORE bitter. Then I noticed the directions on the package said not to grind up the granules (not sure why), but out of an abundance of caution (and unbearable bitterness), I tossed the rest of it down the drain. Hoping the half that I managed to swallow will actually work..hopefully I don’t get too nauseous."

Solosec (secnidazole) "This medicine was supposed to be the more convenient option. I went to 3 pharmacies and had to wait 4 days to get the medicine. Then I mixed it with a chunky yogurt to hopefully mask the texture of the granular medication but I WAS WRONG. Woah the taste was so bitter. I read reviews and decided to add honey. I kept adding honey until it was okay enough to get it down and chase it with lemonade. This helped a little. Still very nauseous :("

"So all of these negative reviews are for people that threw up because they drank alcohol or because the taste was bad. The product works - just don't drink and don't expect it to taste good. Just don't drink. Imagine if everybody on here that reviewed it didn't drink - it would all be 10s. In less than 1 day the BV cleared up."

It wasn’t delicious by any means..But it wasn’t unbearable, either. I am hoping to not experience the side effects that some have listed. So far so good.."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I used chocolate pudding, mixed it up. I took large spoon fulls, put it in the back of my throat, and INSTANTLY swallowed it. I did not give it a chance to sit in my mouth and it WAS NOT BAD. I honestly hardly tasted it and I finished it after 4 spoonfuls. I took it an hour ago so I don’t have results for you"

Solosec (secnidazole) "Was prescribed this Solosec for first case of BV. The taste was disgusting like most are saying but I didn't have as much trouble getting it down like others. It did leave a lingering bad taste in my mouth which is still there a day after taking it. Experienced a slight headache and some dizziness on the first day after taking it but nothing horrible. But that night after drinking two beers, I woke up about 4 hours later with a horrible stomach ache and nausea. I don't usually have reactions to medicines so this was not normal for me at all. If the BV does come back I will definitely ask for a different med."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I just took this packet about 20 minutes ago and I will say the taste is NOT pleasant! I took it with applesauce but HIGHLY recommend chocolate pudding to best mask the taste. As soon as I finished my bowl of applesauce I felt nauseous and had a headache. 10 mins later it's all gone, it really is a mind over matter type of situation. Also, DO NOT DRINK!!!!!!! I am 99% sure you will vomit. I read all the reviews and everyone who drank (even a little) threw up for hours. Yes, it says you can drink but why even risk it since you're on an antibiotic??? ALSOOOOO this drug is EXPENSIVE like $350 expensive, my insurance brought it down to $113. Thennnnnn I found a coupon on the solosec website that brought it down to $45!!!!!! I wish you all the luck with these meds. Also praying I don't get sick cause vomit is NOT my thing!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took this medication yesterday. It was horrible. I mixed it with pudding and tried the first spoon and was almost gagging just trying to swallow it. I ended up drawing up the rest in a 20ml oral syringe and took it like that. It was much easier to tolerate that way. I felt a little nauseated but I was okay so I thought. By the end of the night I had a very metallic taste. I went to work today I felt okay then around 10am I developed a severe headache, nausea, bloated and dizzy. I had some much indigestion it was horrible. I ended up leaving work early because I felt so sick. I came home took pepto and Nexium and fell asleep. I just woke up I feel a little better still bloated, metallic taste and very sour stomach. I feel like BV is slightly improved already but it’s the burning in my stomach and taste that I can’t get over. FYI I’m not a complainer I have been through a lot of health problems and have taken a lot of medications but this is honestly the worst medication I have ever taken."
