"I have heavily researched BV, which I have been plagued with for about 7 years now. No explanation from docs. Prescribed this, and the co-pay for Solosec was $100. But I was desperate. Mixed with a cup of applesauce, texture/taste was tolerable, took at 3 pm, by 6:30 pm the same night had a headache, also had 1.5 glasses of wine since trial studies showed no contraindication. By 9:30 pm I was nauseous. Then, 10:30 pm, puked. I felt fine afterward, was able to sleep all night and woke up fine. My symptoms have gone. I will update this review in a few months. I am hoping Solosec will cure my recurrent BV infections for good. Sick of living like this. Apparently, it is supposed to cure most drug-resistant BV cases. We’ll see. I can deal with a headache and puking for one night vs. having to take a 7-10 day antibiotic, get a yeast infection, can’t have a drink, all for BV to come back. Benefits outweigh risks in my opinion."

"As a diabetic, I get yeast infections often, however, this one was different. I didn't itch or get the whole cottage cheese combo, but it was more like a bladder leak. I had been off my diabetic meds during a time when I was laid off without insurance. So, when I started the medication again, it hit my privates: UTI, yeast infections, and finally the BV. You have not been embarrassed until your 3-year-old nephew asks, 'What's that smell?' So I made the appointment with my doctor, and she tells me about this wonder drug, Solosec. I dumped it in chocolate pudding, gave it a whirl with my spoon, and 3 bites later it was gone. Now, there was some deep breathing and prayers being sent up during each bite, but I made it. That was yesterday at 8:30 pm. And as of right now, no headache, nausea, or vomiting. My privates are not sweating today, and my inner thighs are not chafed. So, yes, I would take this medication again."

"First experience with BV at 43 years old, recently had my gallbladder removed, so wasn't sure if the issues came from that. Dr. prescribed Solosec for me, reading these reviews last night made me scared to try ALMOST. I went today and got the medicine and took it at work. I did eat something and took it with a dairy-free yogurt. No upset stomach, no nausea, slight headache but could be from my hair in a bun. Overall, the taste was terrible but manageable to get down and no aftertaste. I took a few bites of yogurt, then drank water, continued until completely gone. Then had my salad and finished the bottle of water. No issues since 10:45 am and it is 6 pm now, so far so good but anything is better than the infection. Suggestions: no alcohol as it seems to make the medicine symptoms worse per the reviews and definitely eat something."

"I just wrote a review the other day giving this an 8/10, but now after my 4th day of taking Solosec, I am giving it 3/10. Symptoms were gone for a few days up until last night on the 3rd night. Discharge and burning all back with a vengeance. I was hopeful it would work this time, as I had fast symptom relief, but now it's all back. I'm so sad and depressed. I feel hopeless at this time."

"I have read many of these reviews and wonder if the people without these experiences just don't report it. I thought there was no taste to the medicine, just have to fight the urge to chew. A couple sips of water to rinse the rest out of my teeth was all that was needed. No metallic taste, nausea, fatigue, or any of the other side effects mentioned. I will, however, not chance the alcohol. This is the 2nd time I've used Solosec and have had good results. Also, only a $10 copay at the pharmacy my doctor recommended."

"I didn’t even know I had BV until an annual pap in April. Pill and gel form Flagyl did not work for me. My doctor gave me some Solosec to try. I put it in yogurt (could barely get it down, was so disgusting and NO, I did not chew). I slept for 12 hours after taking it because it made me so tired. The next day, I felt nauseous and lightheaded. I also had blurry vision. The burning and pain after peeing went away for 2 days. I’m now on day 3 after taking this, and the burning and pain is back. I also have green discharge now. I think it might’ve worked for a minute, but didn't get the infection all the way. *sigh* Almost wish I never went to get my annual pap because my vagina didn’t hurt until treatments."

"Where do I start? Well, I was one who read the reviews after taking it-wrong move. I have been sick for four days now. My doctor said this was a great med, well, that's because it's a new drug, and they want to push it on! I am fatigued, I feel anxious, and now I have thrush. I'm itching. Why in the world would you prescribe this when the cream worked fine for me? I am highly allergic to everything, so I am having a bad reaction to one of the ingredients. Stick to the old gal, seven days is better than feeling sick!"

"Took Solosec for the first time and have to say it’s the best thing that has worked for my BV so far. I’ve been fighting BV for 15 years. Flagyl, Clindamycin no longer worked. It did have an aspirin taste. Medicine usually tastes bad anyway, but I just mixed it with a small amount of a fruit smoothie and swallowed it with no issue in one gulp. Been 24 hours and no side effects, and the smell is going away."

"I have been struggling with BV for over 3 months now. I have lost a pregnancy at 13 weeks due to this infection. I have tried 5 rounds of different medications. I tried Solosec, and it did not cure the BV. It made me sick as a dog the whole day, as well as a terrible taste in my mouth for about 3 days after."

"I took Solosec Sunday with applesauce (it is now Tuesday), and it was GROSS, so much so it left a bitter taste in my mouth for a while. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but I also wouldn't not recommend it (to each its own). It does seem to be working as far as treating my BV. No odor, discharge, itching, etc. I tried this method for treating my BV because it's only a one-time dose, but if it was to come back (I really hope it doesn't), I would not want to take this again. The taste, nausea, and cost are a no from me."

"I took this yesterday. I didn’t chew the granules. Just swallowed them quickly in like 4 spoonfuls of yogurt, as I don’t think they’re meant to be savored. They’re just a bit bitter, but I didn’t get an aftertaste, that may be from chewing or leaving them in your mouth too long. No side effects at all, but it is worth noting I did this after eating dinner and didn’t have any alcohol. This morning, the smell appears to be gone, so I’m hopeful it’s working! Probably will avoid drinking for another day or so just to be safe."

"I took Solosec around 3 pm yesterday, and 24 hours later I have already seen a major improvement. I feel like people are being a little dramatic about the taste, I mixed it with a yogurt parfait from McDonald's, and I did not taste a thing. However, even though it says it’s okay to drink while on this medicine, I strongly do not recommend it. I drank around noon, it is currently 6 pm, and I have thrown up around 3 times today, plus I still feel incredibly nauseated. I’m able to eat, but it is not helping to reduce the nausea. But overall, had I not had anything to drink, this would have been a very positive experience."

"Like others, I read the reviews before taking the medication. Everyone had the same thing in common: that it tasted disgusting. I still vowed to give it a chance since I’ve been dealing with BV for a few years now, and the smell can be really embarrassing. First off, let me say this: it tastes exactly like aspirin, but tiny crushed-up pieces. I mixed the packet with yogurt with chocolate chip cookie crunches to mask the taste. It did help, but not significantly. I gagged maybe twice in the beginning, but after 4 scoops in, I knew what to expect, so I was ready. My advice to others: the more ingredients you add to your yogurt, the better chance you’ll have masking the taste of aspirin. Good luck, ladies."

"Happy it was only one dose. I didn’t have any problem with taste even though it was a little bitter. I mixed it with yogurt as the doctor suggested. Took it at 4:30 pm, then drank a lot of water. By 8 pm, I had a light dinner, no problem. The next day, I had breakfast, all okay, then for lunch, I decided to have a light drink, Aperol spritz, and my husband had a refreshing drink with vodka. I had two sips, it was good. After 30 minutes, I felt like my brain was foggy. After 40 minutes, I started vomiting for 2 minutes, then I slept for 2 hours. I woke up and felt good and had dinner. Drinking alcohol with this medicine is a no-no, but they said in the instructions it's okay to have alcohol, which they are wrong."

"I took Solosec Sunday with chocolate pudding. I finished it in a few scoops because I just went ahead and swallowed it and did not give it a chance to sit on my tongue/taste it. I’ve had BV for 3 years, and I can finally go about my day with no smell and having the embarrassing thought of someone else smelling me. However, I have been feeling a little vaginal discomfort since taking it and having discharge, but it doesn’t smell. Hopefully, this doesn’t last very long."

"I was prescribed this because I developed BV/yeast infection from being on weeks of antibiotics for other issues. I mixed the many granules in my vanilla pudding, but trying to eat this was a regrettable experience. The bitter taste got worse as I swallowed, and trying to finish it made me close to vomiting. After, I began developing tremors and felt queasy for the rest of the night. At this point, I should mention I also have GERD/digestive issues, so while the average person could probably down this better, my mouth was quite bitter to begin with and made it much more difficult to swallow this awful concoction. I also find this hasn’t really done anything to help 18 hours later. In fact, it’s making my stomach feel worse and my infection is still on fire. For those sensitive to medication like me or have other health issues, I do not recommend this at all."

"My lady part issues began when I was prescribed Levaquin (an awful antibiotic drug) before a surgery. That kicked off the nightmare journey I’ve been on for a year with nonstop yeast infections and BV. Solosec was prescribed to me since the cycle between getting rid of the BV would promote yeast and a never-ending cycle, and my body is becoming resistant to the antibiotics. I’m 24 hours into taking the Solosec prescription, and what others are saying is true. It tastes terrible, and you have these medication grains in your mouth that are bitter. It was a Friday, and I decided to have a cocktail, and since the instructions say it doesn’t cause issues with alcohol, I figured I was fine. Wrong. I spent hours throwing up (and it was one cocktail) and the entire next day in bed recovering from dehydration and the aftereffects of being so sick that the deepest bile and chemicals were coming out. I will NOT take this drug again."

"I took this Solosec with chocolate pudding two days ago, and I have been extremely nauseous and dizzy, so horrible that I can barely lift my head off a pillow. I’m shaking and freezing and aching, tingling all over my body. I have the worst headache, and it is even worse the second day than yesterday. I would not recommend this to anyone. I wish I never took it. I don’t know when this is going to stop, but I hope to goodness it’s soon. I’ve had this once before five years ago, was given a single pill, and I never felt a thing from it, and it went away immediately for five full years. I just had a miscarriage, and they did a swab; it came back with BV, so my doctor suggested this is the best thing on the market. My insurance covered it, but it was still $135. Do not take this, people! There are plenty of other options. ;("

"I took the Solosec a little over an hour ago. Some of the comments about the taste are very dramatic. It literally tastes like a pill. If you’re having problems with diarrhea, etc., start a probiotic a few days before. I’ve had no side effects yet. Idk if I will either because I started a women’s care probiotic four days ago. This is my first time having BV. It was originally $79, Idk if that was with insurance or not, but the coupon from the gynecologist brought it down to $25."

"I never write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so. This is absolutely the worst medication I have ever taken. Immediately after taking the medication, I started feeling nauseous. I’ve been having the most painful headache, nausea, and diarrhea. I feel so dehydrated and have drunk over 64 ounces of water in just a few hours. I am hoping that it will flush this medication out of my system."

"Very bitter taste to it, took it with yogurt and had to swallow it down. Woke up with a metallic taste in my mouth. Made everything taste off, had a headache each day for 4 days, bloated, and nauseated. On day 3, I had 2 Coronas and we BBQ'd some hamburgers for dinner. 2 hours later, I was projectile vomiting my dinner. I felt better once I had vomited, but I was down the rest of the night. I thought maybe it was bad beef, but no one in my family got sick. I felt pregnant (which I'm not) or flu-like symptoms. I would not take this again as there are other Rx out there that can help with BV. Yes, the BV is gone, but feeling sick for 4-5 days was too much for me."

"So I don’t think the taste is bad. Didn’t bother me at all. What bothers me is the awful side effects. For the past 3 days, I’ve had a migraine headache that won’t go away, extreme nausea, and fatigue. I've also developed a rash, but I'm unknown if it’s related. It cured my BV, BUT the negatives completely outweigh the positives. I will NEVER take this medication again."

"I was prescribed this medicine for BV but never heard of it before. My doctor gave me a coupon to get this medication for $25 and warned me that sometimes women develop a yeast infection in about 4 or 5 days after taking it. So she prescribed me yeast infection medication with it just in case. I also asked my doctor if I could drink alcohol on the same day or days after taking it. I mixed it with applesauce and really didn’t notice a taste at all. I took it on a Monday, had 2 beers later that evening, and during the 3rd, got extremely nauseous and a horrible headache. I had to lay down, and the symptoms lasted for at least 3 or 4 hours. My BV symptoms started to go away, and I felt so much better, but now it’s 5 days later on Friday, and it feels like it’s back. Definitely not a yeast infection as I have no discharge and no itching. I would have given 10 stars if it had worked. It was so much better than choking down the normal horrible-tasting horse-sized antibiotics."

"I admire how tough and brave y'all are. I didn't have applesauce or pudding, mixed it with jello, and honestly, I gagged the whole time - no exaggerating! I wish I could say it was fine and didn't taste like anything, but even now I have leftover taste, and I want to cry, lol. But this works!!!!! I've taken it before, and it was a dream. I went to my Dr's begging him to prescribe it since metronidazole does absolutely nothing for me. Having this bacteria is honestly emotionally and mentally draining. Wish y'all happy relief!!"

"At my annual pap, my gynecologist tested me for BV. It came back positive, so she prescribed me Solosec. Unfortunately, I had to pay $75 through the Kroger pharmacy, as my insurance did not cover it. Based on previous reviews, I was nervous to take it. The taste is not great, and it's definitely bitter. I mixed it in 3/4 cup of applesauce with cinnamon. And then when I finished it, I ate more applesauce with cinnamon. I found that to take away the bitterness quickly. It's like when you let a pill sit on your tongue too long, it gets super bitter, but goes away in a few minutes. And within a couple of days, my symptoms had cleared. I would take it again if needed because it worked so well. I would definitely recommend!"
