"I think this drug is dangerous and shouldn't be prescribed. I believe this ended the life of the father of a friend of mine. Common side effects include respiratory problems. Taking this drug can temporarily lower the white blood cell count. I'm sure this comment will be deleted also, which says it all really. Please take caution if you or somebody you know are taking this drug."

"We have noticed that when our mom decided to stop taking this medicine, she became weak and tired. She has only been taking it for 3 weeks. Was told she has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in March 2014. Wish we didn't have to jump over so many walls to get answers. Got to love Medicare!"

"My husband has been taking this drug since August 2021 and has continued taking it without missing any doses. We set the time (7:00 a.m. & 7:00 p.m.) to take riluzole in time without missing. After taking this drug, it seems to delay the decrease of deterioration. But I don't know what will happen in the future. -10.08.2022"

"My mom's experience is the same as above. She went off it for a few days, and we could see the decline."

"I was diagnosed with ALS on 7/30/2024. I have mild symptoms that started in my right hand. I started this medication 9/2024. Two days ago, 1/28/2025, I adjusted the time of day that I take this medication, and I should not have done that. The muscle spasms and weakness in my hands and arms persisted like nothing I have felt before. It was horrible, and I know that this will come later, but if this medication delays it, I am all for it. After two days, I went right back to my normal schedule, 12 hours apart with no food for two hours before and one hour after (so the meds can get into my bloodstream). About a day later, I am back to where I was, thank goodness! The spasms are there along with the weakness, but not nearly as bad. I have not experienced any negative side effects at all. I do take this medication along with 1/2 of a muscle relaxer and also the vitamin alpha-lipoic acid. I am a 57 y/o female with no other health conditions. I hope this helps my extended ALS family out there!"
