"I have had significant flare-ups with severe inflammation and obstruction this year. After only weeks of taking Metamucil, my bowel habits have changed, and there is no inflammation (2 months now), and the form, size, and shape of bowel movements is somewhat normal, which I have not experienced in many years. My bowel feels healthier."

Psyllium "I had experienced a terrible flare-up of irritable bowel syndrome with constipation, alternating with diarrhea, very painful. I went to my primary care physician who recommended Metamucil. Within a day of taking it, I was feeling total relief from my symptoms! Not only that, but I am having better, cleaner, healthier stools than I have ever had in my life. Very pleased. It is indeed a miracle drug, for me at least!"

"It’s improved my symptoms for IBS-D greatly. I buy bulk psyllium husk at Bulk Barn. I take a heaping teaspoon before every meal. I put the psyllium right in my mouth, then put some water in my mouth, swish it a bit, and swallow it. Then I take a few more drinks of water to get the rest that is in my mouth down. My poop is normally like sticky peanut butter that won't wipe, but with the psyllium, it’s logs that don’t leave anything on the toilet paper."

"Worked for a few years for IBS-mixed in the form of a popular cereal, then began to wreak havoc, upsetting my entire digestive tract from top to bottom, especially my bowels. Horrible cramping, pain, and urgency with fatty, light-colored, and very malodorous stools. It took me a while to figure out it was the psyllium in the cereal. I would stop eating it (and anything hard to digest, in favor of easy-to-digest, bland foods) when I had an episode, then resume once feeling better. Did this three times before realizing what was going on. Lost a lot of sleep and productivity, and suffered big time. Feeling better each day since I tossed it out."

Psyllium "Konsyl has more grams of fiber than Metamucil. You can get a plain, unflavored version, which is much better than orange. Orange-flavored fiber has much fewer grams of fiber per container. Konsyl settles down my digestive tract."
