Nivolumab "Stay away from this drug if you have esophageal cancer. It won’t work for you but will destroy any 'itis' you might be susceptible to. It destroyed my husband’s thyroid, and they could never get it back to normal with meds. After 9 infusions, by month 10 his esophageal cancer was back with a vengeance. Opdivo does no good for esophageal patients. Just makes things worse."

Nivolumab "Don’t take this drug, it only causes harm. After 4 treatments, it fried my thyroid and my adrenal glands. I’ve gone through hell for months as they try to adjust my medication. I will have to deal with this for the rest of my life. Your own immune system destroys your organs quickly."

"I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. My body didn’t tolerate the treatment. I had one infusion about 8 weeks ago. The side effects have come in stages. First was the fatigue. I wasn’t at a doctor appointment, I was trying to rest up. I also had liver pain. My enzymes tripled. The next phase was numbness in my midsection. Every muscle in my abdomen felt as if it were constantly being flexed. This lasted about 6 weeks. The side effects have lessened somewhat, but I have now developed neuropathy. The nerve that seems to be affected is the funny bone nerve in both arms. When lying down, it gets worse. While I try to sleep, the nerve gets activated. This is the same feeling as when you hit your funny bone, only it lasts a lot longer. The pain is a 10 out of 10. As I already have an autoimmunity, I wondered if this kind of thing might happen. I know people who are having fantastic results from similar treatments. This just wasn’t the right treatment for me."

"Took IV nivolumab with 5-FU for near 2 years. Then got severe diarrhea for weeks till it was decided that I was rejecting the nivolumab. I was put on high dosage prednisone, and the diarrhea cleared. My oncologist has said I was no longer a candidate for any immunotherapies."

"Very harmful drug. I lost my father at the end, and oncology doctors are the worst. They don't accept anything is their fault or manage any complications."
