For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I got my second outbreak without realizing it was herpes, and at first it didn't look like it, just some hard spots that itched and turned into sores as I scratched them up and hurt a little bit. A couple of days later, the blisters started appearing... and I finally realized: it's herpes. I looked up stuff online, and I went to a herbal shop the day after and got myself a bottle of lysine. I have also been using a piece of cotton drenched in alcohol that I put in between my butt cheeks for an hour or so (not sure if this actually did anything, but it was supposed to help for itching and pain). Six hours later, the blisters had gone a lot flatter and more purple/red-ish. Twelve hours after taking the pills, they were almost completely flat and almost not visible, plus the pain stopped for the most part. Twenty-four hours after I took them, I can barely see the blisters anymore even though I can feel them slightly, but they're about to heal up. So happy!"

Previously, for 6 months, I had been having harsher breakouts and now only every 12-18 months and less severe. Use Valtrex on top when a breakout is imminent."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I was having major outbreaks because I was eating Snickers, and that has nuts and chocolate (two of the things that promote cold sores). I didn't even know until I looked it up, but I always had an outbreak, just not bad. Anyway, I did some research on what I could use for my outbreaks. I bought L-lysine, and let me tell you, they are the real deal! I started using it, 2 pills a day, and I felt an outbreak coming, so I took more lysine. No outbreak came, and I'm very pleased with this cheap pill that does the job. Need to not eat foods high in arginine, like chocolate, nuts, eggs."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Works for acute HSV2 outbreaks at high doses. I took low-dose maintenance (500 mg) for several years and saw no difference in outbreaks. Last year, I was going on a big trip, started to get an outbreak, and out of desperation took 3,000 mg of lysine. Within a few hours, the sensation was gone, and by the next day, I was completely normal. Now, I take 2,500 mg when I feel an outbreak, and 80% of the time, it will be almost gone by the next day. In my opinion, 500-1,000 mg does nothing for HSV2 (500 mg is what I give my cat for feline herpes...and she weighs 10 lbs)"

Lysine for Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I never do reviews, but I'm hoping this will help someone. I was diagnosed with herpes simplex virus type 1, orally and genitally, that I got from a loser who knew he had it but did not tell me. I recently had a genital outbreak and started taking L-Lysine as soon as I felt it coming. The blister did show up but started fading away and was almost gone after 4 days. I took about 3,000 mg of L-Lysine a day. I'm not sure of the recommended dose, but I did not have any side effects. This stuff really does work for genital and oral herpes!"

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I had been taking lysine for about 2 weeks for a viral infection when I noticed that my plantar's wart on my foot had completely healed, little moles on my face were gone, and yes, my viral cold infection was gone. I have a friend who had been diagnosed many years ago and remember her telling me she took lysine. I am going to start taking it as well to hopefully avoid ever having an outbreak. For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I've gotten cold sores since I was young. It's a common thing among a lot of people, but it happens to me normally once a year around winter. My lips end up drying out, and when they get chapped, that's when a cold sore ends up forming. I am not completely sure why, but whatever makes it lay dormant gets aggravated. I actually went to a local drug store to get a cold sore treatment when I found Lysine. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it in time, but it took the pain and itching away almost immediately. It's shortened the amount of time it would normally take a cold sore to heal when the blisters have already formed. It's better than the other products I have used and a lot more efficient."

For Aphthous Ulcer "I was recently having issues with cystic acne after switching birth control pills and got to the point where it was so bad and painful I couldn't lay my head down on a pillow to rest. I called my doctor, and she said this could be the answer, this pill being a 'hidden gem,' as she described it. After taking it for 3 days, I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin. For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Just got diagnosed with HSV-1, and reading this actually made me feel like crawling and crying like a baby. The outbreak I have right now is genital and in my throat and mouth. I talked to the doctor who did the blood test on me and said over time that it would eventually get much better. She said that what I’m having is a massive outbreak and is unusual, but that it may be due to the fact that I stressed myself out over it so much. She also told me even though I have it in the genital area, that it doesn't mean that I needed “private to private” contact to acquire it. But this did make me feel a whole lot better about the whole situation."

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "One day I got a severe headache. It lasted for 3 full days. I was tired, could barely move, pain all over. I developed a rash, almost like chafing on my inner thighs next to my lady parts. I knew it was herpes, so I went and got tested, and sure enough, it was positive for simplex 2. Being 25 and only having two partners really narrowed down where I got it from. I am still with the person who gave it to me. Anywho. I was prescribed generic Valtrex (acyclovir), it cleared up the rash in about a week. But it had harsh side effects: leg pain, stomach pain, etc. I researched lysine and began taking it after my 10 days of acyclovir. It has been 3 months and no further outbreak. I had my cycle and felt that viral tingle, I increased the lysine and no outbreak."

Lysine for Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I tested L-lysine for over a year to see what results I would get for HSV 1 and 2. When 50 mg was taken daily, it completely suppressed HSV 1 and 2, and I never had any outbreaks. However, after stopping daily dosing, the outbreaks returned and became worse than before, in both frequency and severity after stopping L-lysine! The more severe outbreaks stopped after my body could fight off and suppress the virus as it did before using L-lysine! The good news is that after a number of months, your body will return to pre-L-lysine supplementation levels, and the number of outbreaks will return to what they used to be. I normally only get an outbreak a couple of times a year when the seasons change from fall to winter and from winter to spring, but when I used L-lysine daily, I never got an outbreak for the whole year plus that I used it. For people that have less severe cases of HSV 1 and/or 2, you may consider supplementing with L-lysine only as needed to stop a breakout instead of taking it daily."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "After freezing warts, it got worse, so I took my chance. I have genital herpes that my unfaithful boyfriend gave to me. Lysine helped cure the outbreak in a week. My advice is never be without it. Buy with green tea mask for my vagina and use witch hazel. My dermatologist prescribed imiquimod, and I didn't use it because of bad reviews. So my advice is: 1. buy lysine pills 2. green tea St. Ives scrub 3. witch hazel astringent 4. keep faith and never give up. This helped me. I've cried to the point my boyfriend thought it was me that gave it to him. And you can crush lysine pills and put them in cream and rub on the vagina."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Been suffering from HSV-1 all my life (I'm 32), and I used to have outbreaks around six times a year, with medium-large painful blisters across the mouth, which usually lasted five to ten days. In the last two years, I've started taking 3g lysine + 400mg oral acyclovir during outbreaks, and my flares dropped to three days' duration. Since eight months ago, I've been taking 1g lysine daily and I've had absolutely no outbreaks in that period. No type of cream or herbal treatment worked for me. But during the last few years, I realized that consuming foods rich in arginine triggers my flare. So I believe my HSV has something to do with lysine x arginine. Stay strong!"

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "55 yo woman, use 1.2 g lysine for cold sore outbreaks-very effective, though not instant, and zero side effects (unlike oral antivirals). For instant suppression, I use topical acyclovir (better than putting more drugs in my whole system) and ice. If needed, I continue the lysine 1-3 times daily for several days; usage being guided by the tingling/itching sensation. If I'm getting a spate of cold sores, I continue the above dose for 1-3 weeks and cut out arginine foods (nuts, especially almonds push my body out of balance when I'm under increased stress)."

For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I am 78 and have been getting cold sores on my lip all my life, and as a youngster, my mother would put camphor phenol on these sores, and the sores just stayed around. I still get these sores about 3 times a year, especially when the seasons change. As I was getting a physical with my doctor about 6 months ago, I offhandedly asked him about these sores that I get every year, and he said to get L-Lysine in powder or tablets and take a spoonful or tablet three times a day for a couple of days and see what happens and let him or his nurse know. I did, and it had almost gone the next day, and by the next night, it was gone. So now when the seasons are about to change, I take the lysine for about 3 days and stop, and I have not had a cold sore since."

Lysine for Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I tried this after I kept getting cold sores, and it has really helped. I never had these before until I started wearing a mask all the time. For Herpes Simplex (HSV) "I only get cold sores when, guess what, it’s super cold outside. I used different ointments, but it took long to heal. I tried the lysine cream once I felt the tingle, and it worked great. They usually open up, but once you put the cream on it right when you feel the tingle, it controls it. I highly recommend it for cold sores. I don’t have herpes, so I can’t comment on that. The key is to get to it before it spreads. Once it spreads, there’s nothing you can do. P.S. The lysine bandages don't work if you have a beard. It won’t stay in place. That’s my only complaint."
