For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started this medication on 12/9/15 and had a severe headache and nausea for 2 days. My beginning weight was 191. On day #3, I noticed I was not eating or drinking very much, and that is probably why I had those symptoms so severe. On day #4, it became very clear that I had no appetite nor a desire to eat...anything. On the 5th day, I started the 1.2 and had no side effects. I do notice that I'm never hungry and when I do eat, I can only take a couple bites and I'm done. I'm extremely tired, but again I think it's because of not eating. Today my weight was 180.4 and my pants keep falling down, lol. I'm f/u with my PCP on the 22nd, so we will see how things go from there."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started taking this on October 19th, I weighed 217. The first week on the .6 dose, I lost 1 pound. My second week on the 1.2 dose, I have lost 5 pounds, and I am not done with my second week yet. When I increased my dosage, I did experience some nausea, but nothing too bad, and an occasional headache. My appetite is down, I'm not really too hungry, and I have been drinking a lot of water. Very happy right now and hope this is only the beginning. Thankful that my insurance covers this too."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been on Saxenda for 6 months and lost 40 lbs in the first 3. Since then, I have maintained the weight loss. I just started working out on it and hoping I will lose my last 25. In the beginning, I felt a little nauseous, constipation, and had some minor headaches, but it subsided after the first month. About 6 weeks in, I had terrible sulfur breath and burps. It lasted about 3 weeks, but I was able to control it with chewable Pepto Bismol. I have had a great experience, but if my plateau doesn’t break, I’m hoping my doctor will increase the dosage."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started on Victoza a little over 3 weeks ago, at 5'5", 197 lbs. I am at the 1.8 dosage. I've lost ~5 pounds. I am active and am on Weight Watchers but have been unable to lose weight for over 9 months until I started Victoza. I've had some side effects: elevated BP and a bit of a consistent headache (I'm trying to counteract this by eliminating caffeine, increasing water, reducing anti-inflammatory meds) and tiredness. However, the decrease in appetite is a welcome relief!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Victoza for 4 weeks now. I started at 0.6 for a week, then went up to 1.2 on the eighth day. Side effects the first couple weeks included nausea, sore back, headache, sour stomach, etc., though none of them were unbearable, and the results have been worth it. I have lost nearly 20 pounds, and my blood sugar readings have dropped dramatically. I am often in the normal range before meals now. Food cravings are all gone, and I am eating 3 small meals a day. A handful of raw almonds is all I can handle as a snack."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Saxenda now for a little over 3 weeks, 24 days to be exact. I have lost 7 pounds to date. The first week was awful for me. I experienced terrible headaches, nausea, heartburn, and insomnia. I was hesitant to continue the drug as I felt terrible. I spoke to my doctor, who advised me not to up my dose the second week, so I continued taking Saxenda at 0.6 for 2 weeks. Miraculously, my side effects lessened by the 10th day, and I was happy I didn't stop. I just increased my dose to 1.2 and feel some nausea and a slight headache once again, but nowhere near as bad as previously. My doctor said everyone's tolerance level is different, and as long as I am losing, I could go back down to 0.6. No need to increase if losing."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started this medication one week ago. I was apprehensive to start, but I did. I am a 41-year-old female with Type II diabetes. I was diagnosed 7 years ago. I have always had fairly good control, but my fasting levels are always difficult to manage. The first night, I was very nauseous! I could not even smell food, and I ate Sprite and apple sauce for dinner. The next day, I noticed a decrease in appetite, but no nausea. I did wake up with headaches for the first 3 days. My numbers have greatly improved! Even my fasting numbers, which were my toughest to control, are now under 105; this was never possible before. I have lost 1-2 pounds so far. I do not feel hungry and I fill up faster. I do not have the cravings that I had and can turn away dessert."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Love this medicine. I recently changed doctors because mine wouldn't listen to me and put me on insulin, which gave me the lowest reading of around 260 and as high as the 400s and piled the pounds on. Started this medicine just about a month ago, the headaches and nausea lasted about two weeks, but it's gone now, and my morning sugars are down to the 120s and even have evening readings of 110! I haven't had readings like this for years! I've lost 15 lbs, and I just feel so much better and would recommend this. I was also on Byetta before insulin, and it didn't work for me."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Having been sold it by a company that glamorizes it with celebrities like Kerry Katona, feeling a little overweight with a BMI of 27. I was prescribed this for 5 pens that worked out to £650. The side effects were really bad headaches, feeling sick, but I still managed to eat. I did more exercise and did not lose a pound. The nurse told me to stay on it, so I did for 6 months until I realized I was depressed and now owing £2000 to my bank! I was feeling worse than I ever did. Didn’t want to go to work, but I was still encouraged to stay on it as it had to work. I ended up really down, was a risk to myself, and so was told not to take Saxenda as it was a new drug and not enough was known about it. There had been 5 others via yellow card who had suicidal thoughts and a list of depression. When my mental health searched the makers Novo, it states people with a history of depression or suicidal thoughts should not take this."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am a 44-year-old Hispanic female. I am 5'1" and weigh 156 lbs. I wear a size 10-12 dress. I started Saxenda yesterday, August 2, 2016. I am terrified of needles and did not think I would be able to give myself the shot this morning, but I handled it like a champ. I had some slight burning at the injection site, but it quickly faded. I have had no nausea but have a horrible headache. I had a slice of wheat bread with 2 tsp. of peanut butter for breakfast and had to force myself to take a few bites at lunch. I have no appetite and feel full after drinking a glass of water."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started Victoza on June 26, 2017. Didn't really have any of the side effects, it did give me somewhat of a headache. I started out taking 0.6, and now I'm at 1.8. I think you have to start out low so your body gets used to it. So far, I have lost 20 lbs, and my sugar levels are really good. I go back to the doctor in August for my A1C, last time it was 9.2. Can't wait to see what it is this time. I will write another review in August."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm 66 years old, and I've tried every diet out there, some with minor results but never permanent weight loss. I was excited to start Saxenda. It is expensive, but my insurance plan actually covered 80%, but it wouldn't cover the needles, which I thought was a bit odd. This is day 4 for me, and I'm down 7 lbs, but not without nausea, headache, insomnia, and extreme fatigue. I can't function during the day, so I'm going to try taking it at night along with a sleep aid, hopefully, I can sleep through the worst of it. I'll give you an update in a few days."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Was put on Victoza 5 weeks ago for a high A1C of 7.8 even on metformin 500 mg 3 times a day. At first, I had a few side effects like pressure in the head and not having a bowel movement for 4 days. Some nausea, but not much. I went to 1.2 mg the 2nd week and I have lost 14 pounds. And my sugar is down each morning from 200 to 120 most mornings. I feel very full, so I eat small meals, or I get heartburn from hell. I only take the 500 mg metformin each morning and the Victoza at 1:00 pm each day. I hope it stays this good for me, I didn't realize just how bad I felt with high sugar until it isn't anymore."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started in Nov. Weight at 176, have lost 11 lbs, down to 165 currently. Started at .6, now up to 2.6. Have tried 3, but have nausea and headache, so I went back down. Definitely notice feeling full fast, and some days I have to make myself eat. If I don't eat, I feel sick. I haven't followed a strict diet but have cut sweets, so I do not crave them. Drink lots of water, my mouth is always dry. I have found when I do eat and drink plenty of water, I lose more."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Approached use with a bit of apprehension following reviews posted here by other users. (Thanks to all who share stories here and to site host drugs.com). Prescribed product for weight loss following an obese diagnosis by Dr. after trying diet and exercise alone unsuccessfully. First 3 days were as described by many users - nausea, headache, constipation, and irregular sleep. Experienced gradual improvement each successive day after that period and now on day 11 with diminishing side effects. Have lost 12 pounds thus far on the journey to lose 75. So far it works for me. Definitely curbs appetite and supports eating less. Using a fiber supplement to help with constipation, and it seems to work. Will post again in 14 days with an update."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I'm a 5' 7", 197 lb, 46-year-old female. Started Saxenda back on 2/11/16 with the standard 0.6 dose and lost 8 lbs the first 2 weeks. Had a migraine a couple of days in but didn't know if it was the med or a coincidence. I stayed on the lower dose as long as possible - any time I increased it, the nausea would worsen. The sample pen my gyno gave me ran out before we could get insurance approval. I have BCBS and was approved for a 3-month supply at $85. When I went back on the med, I got another headache just as before, so I guess it was the reason. It only lasted a day each time. The main side effect I've experienced is EXTREME fatigue. Have to make myself do stuff. Hubby says he doesn't know if it's worth it. I'm hoping it lessens with time."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Headaches, dizziness, and fatigue have been my experiences so far. I am on the 2.4 dose, and this is week 4 for me. I have lost five pounds, and feelings of hunger are somewhat nonexistent. I am excited about this new journey. I just wish I had more energy. Does fatigue ever subside?"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been a Type 2 diabetic for 10 years. Have tried different medications but have never really controlled my sugar levels. My A1C was 8.5 three months ago, and the doctor said I might have to be put on insulin if I didn't get it controlled. Went to a new doctor (endocrinologist), and she put me on Victoza. I have only been on it for 10 days. I have experienced some weight loss (4 lbs the first 5 days). Some of the side effects are nausea, loss of appetite, weakness in my legs, slight headache, light stomach cramps, and the eggy burps with indigestion. I didn't start having the eggy burps and indigestion until I increased my dosage to 1.2. So I went back to the 0.6 for a couple more days, and it went away. I have increased the dosage back to 1.2."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "First of let me say that I was only able to take the sample pen of Saxenda because it was too expensive, and my insurance, BCBSIL and Express Scripts, only covered $150 of the total $1300 plus that it cost. But I will say that in those 3.5 weeks I lost 16 lbs. It did give me headaches and really bad heartburn. My appetite was gone, and I had no urge to snack on junk food. Between meals, small meals, I would eat a handful of peanuts or a tangerine or small apple and would be completely good. I did not work out. Couldn't really due to fatigue, which was also an issue. If I didn't eat enough through the day, though, I would end up eating bad at night. You must eat but eat healthy. Tums, Pepto, and fiber were my best friends."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The nausea, vomiting, and massive diarrhea were so bad that I had to stop after two days. I waited a week and tried again, only to have even worse reactions, including headache, gas, etc. It has been a week, and I still have diarrhea 20 or so times per day, and as others point out, the smell is terrible. My belly is bloated and distended, and my throat hurts from the vomiting. No weight loss, and sugar is higher due to the inability to retain medications."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "4 months in Saxenda, and I have only lost 9 pounds. Despite doing exercises and counting calories, the weight was just slowly coming down. So I am not sure if Saxenda was doing anything. Slight, occasional nausea and headaches the first couple of weeks. No other side effects either. It has done nothing to decrease my appetite or cravings. Unfortunately, it seems I was not responding to Saxenda, and today my doctor discontinued it. So frustrating. Big disappointment."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Today is day one on 1.2 mg. It’s day 7 on the pen total. I’m down 14 lbs. total. I’m 5’00”. Starting weight was 251 lb. Currently 237 lb. The only side effects I’m having are headaches. I’m eating smaller meals and much cleaner than I have in years. I have not had a soda in 2 weeks and no cravings for it. No bread since I’ve started and no sweets. Next week I will begin working out. Anyone have any suggestions to cure the headaches?"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on this since Jan 25, 2018. I have lost 40 pounds! For the first few months, I had bad stomach pain if I didn’t eat every few hours. That feeling is still there from time to time, but it’s at more like 4-5 hours without food. Also, stomach pains, headache, and weakness from overeating; learned to only do that a few times. These painful memories keep me overeating now. It does seem like my progress has slowed down; been stuck at a loss of 40 lbs for about a month. Definitely exercise, drink water, and track what you eat; it will keep you focused. Some constipation, but nothing a laxative won’t fix. Good luck and pay attention to your body and discuss everything with your doctor."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Victoza is an amazing drug, thank you. My insurance only covered Trulicity, it was garbage. At least for me, my doctor gave me a 2-week trial, the difference was day and night. On the first day, Victoza brought my sugar from 169 to 125. Second day, 99. Third day, 98, it's a steady 90. I have been doing .6, not up to the 1.8, I will ask my doctor to see if a higher dosage is necessary. My doctor fought for me against my insurance (like they care), they gave me permission for one year. My diarrhea was mild and is subsiding, no other symptoms. I take my med at night, and it stopped the morning spikes. Some people say headaches, maybe doing the night injections helps. I don't get them. This drug is a miracle, thank you, Denmark. Sad we Americans don't care."

For Type 2 Diabetes "On Victoza for 16 mo. Prior to Victoza, I suffered severe fatigue, high blood pressure, hypothyroid, depression, Epstein-Barr, and other symptoms. Prior to my endocrinologist, I went to 5 different doctors and they all medicated me without results. After Victoza, nausea and headaches for about 2 weeks, then I felt like a new human being. Energy, no depression, lost 30 pounds. My endocrinologist and I decided to slowly come off the meds. After 1.5 weeks, I began to feel fatigue and began to gain weight. TERRIFIED... that I would go back to my old self again and of all the reports of pancreatitis, thyroid and pancreas cancer. If I go back on, am I taking a risk? Scared..."
