"While I've gotten very helpful joint pain and referred pain relief from other brands, the Mylan brand patches are a waste of time and money. The backing is thin but stiff and unsuitable for anything but a flat area, obviously, they made the 'adhesive' layer thin to cheap out on the amount of lidocaine, and the difference in pain relief is immediately noticeable. And then they won't stick. The website, but not the box, says to press on the patch for better stick, but then pretty much admits you will need tape. I only am out a small copay, but my insurer spent over $200 a box on this garbage. I'll have to get an exemption from the quantity limits to have another brand ordered. In the meantime, I hurt more than I should have to."

"Really no idea if the medicine works or not because they do not stick. If you can lay on your stomach for 12 hours and not move, then maybe you can figure out if they work. I cut one in half, stuck it on my low back, got in bed, and 5 minutes later I feel something I am laying on. I reach down and pull out something that looks like a French fry, only to learn it is my pain patch that lasted a total of 5 minutes. I put the other half on and sat down to type this review, and when I got up out of my chair, it was all rolled up. PITIFUL, PITIFUL PRODUCT. I AM RETURNING IN AM FOR A FULL REFUND. DO NOT BUY THE MYLAN LIDOCAINE 5% PATCH. NOT WORTH $5.00, MUCH LESS $200+. DON'T BUY IT."

Lidocaine topical "Was prescribed to me for a tooth abscess in my lower left molar, severe swelling (left side of mouth, cheek, jaw, and my throat) and for pain in my left tonsil... which hurt so much that I couldn't eat, barely drink, actually I just couldn't swallow anything PERIOD! By getting this solution... I am now able to swallow a little better and although my molar is still in A LOT of pain... it is now actually stand-able to some degree; which I know it wouldn't be if I didn't have this to take. Negatives: 1) Tastes really gross but worth it for the relief. 2) Hard to keep it in your mouth, without it oozing out (large dose/small mouth, I guess) 3) VERY thick! I use a dosing syringe to get all of the med especially to a specific place in my mouth."

Lidocaine topical "Can't tell if this works or not, won't stay on long enough to get an idea. Every time I move, it balls up. Only put it on 40 mins ago, and I'm sitting here literally holding it in place (gave up on taping it, that didn't help either). Total waste of money."

"I was getting the patch from Qualitest Pharmaceuticals in Huntsville, AL. But for the last 2 months, I have been getting them from Watson Laboratories in Salt Lake City, Utah. The ones from Watson are very thin and come off about 3 to 5 hours after I put them on. Sometimes it takes about 4 patches before one stays on. And the one from Qualitest only takes 1. I have called Watson with no help."

"My 88-year-old mother uses lidocaine 5% patches for her sciatica pain. The patches by Mylan are useless. As others have stated, they are plastic and do not stay in place. They bunch up and fall off within one to two hours of applying. She used to get another brand which was flexible and stayed in place. Insurance covers most of the cost of these patches, but I would not recommend them even if Mylan paid you to use them."

"I had tried patches before, and nothing stays on, but about 4 yrs ago, I tried SalonPas, which were ridiculously inexpensive, so my expectations were extremely low. They stayed on UNTIL I TOOK IT OFF BY CHOICE OVER 6 HOURS LATER, but they contained no lidocaine. Within the last month, I heard they came out with lidocaine patches and rushed to get them. Only $8.00 for a box of 5 or 6, and so happy I did. They have come through again with a low-cost, effective (more so than name brand) pain-relieving product."

"I purchased a box of Odor Free Aspercreme Lidocaine Patch (5 count) from seeing an advertisement on TV. The box cost me almost $15.00. I was very excited to try these patches. The first patch stayed adhered in place for all of 3 hours, the second patch stayed in place for 2 hours. I have just applied the 3rd patch and am praying it will stay on long enough to relieve the pain in my neck/shoulder. I have applied duct tape over it to try to make the patch stay put! I cleaned the patch area with soap and water and dried thoroughly, then waited 30 minutes for the area to air dry before applying the patch. The package says it's good for up to 12 hours... that's great if it would stay on. Does not stay on long enough for me to critique its usefulness. Thank you."

"This patch is a piece of junk, it does not adhere to the skin. I clean my skin with alcohol, so there is no skin oil before I use this, but it just does not stay. They fell off. Is this made of composite plastic material? Take this off the shelves, a ripoff for the consumer and the VA pharmacy...please remove this junk. Effectiveness, it's not 1, it's a big '0.'"

"Lidoderm patches are very useful for my general pains - I have lots of joint pains. My insurance switched to Watson lidocaine 5%. They are terrible! Won't stay on. Curl up. Come off. Can't they use a better glue?"

"Junk!! Sticks to itself, slightly takes away pain! More of a mess than other Lidoderm or lidocaine patches! Mess trying to remove backing, it sticks to itself, rolls up & doesn't stick well after the goop is absorbed! Junk junk junk!"

Lidocaine topical "I have chronic bursitis, and these patches are the only thing that helps. They help numb the pain so I can walk. Thank you! But now my insurance won't pay for it. What can I do? It costs hundreds of dollars a box. Please help!"

"The Mylar patches are horrible! They don't stick and thus they don't relieve the pain. New insurance forced me to switch to the Mylar brand. I will switch back to Actavis brand. They work perfectly. But the insurance coverage is not as good."

"I had to use some Watson lidocaine patches one time because my other brand was not in stock at this particular store. Although they did work, they fall off in 5 minutes. I wonder if it is the difference in skin texture or something defective with my patches in this box. One user said they stick. Did I get a bad box?"

"The lidocaine patch by Mylan is a terrible product. It is stiff and difficult to apply. It does not stay in place. The lidocaine patch by Watson is wonderful. It is soft, pliable, easy to apply, and it feels soothing."

Lidocaine topical "Lidocaine 5% patch... What a waste of time and money. Product did NOT relieve my bursitis pain. The 'metallic' taste went away after a couple of weeks. The blurred vision, sensitive eyesight to the sun, and complicated way of using this product I could have dealt with if only it had worked. Do not waste your money and time."

Lidocaine topical "I was prescribed Lidoderm, but the pharmacist switched the prescription to Lidocaine 5% patch. This was TERRIBLE!!! The patch dried off and fell off in about 2 hours. The adhesive was pathetically weak and didn't hold the patch in place, not even long enough to do any good. I know as a former drug salesman for Upjohn this kind of shoddy imitation would never have been tolerated. Why don't you try quality, and I would assume they are made in some third-world country. Terrible is the only term I can use to describe this copycat medication."

"I sprained my back in a hit-and-run car accident. Pain medications took the edge off, but I was still in a lot of pain. Lidocaine patches gave me the first relief I have had in a week. The only side effect I have experienced thus far is a headache. This is my first time trying lidocaine patches, so I am unsure if more side effects will appear."

Lidocaine topical "Put the patch on for nighttime relief. Woke up the next morning with blisters and welts in the area. I now know the extent of the medication - the blisters and red marks - like a second-degree burn spread throughout an area 2 - 3 times the size of the patch. Sitting, leaning back has been difficult. Wearing clothing has been difficult. Laying in bed has been painful. The doc has given me an ointment for my skin and meds for the pain. The blisters have drained today. The burnt skin is still there. This was the first time I used this product."

Lidocaine topical "This only works for your tooth pain for an hour, before that, the sharp pain feeling starts subtly creeping back. Not only that, it's so thick that even if you spit out as much as possible, you could be at risk for choking. I wish providers would prescribe actual pain relievers for tooth pain, instead of this sham."

Lidocaine topical "I was prescribed this for reflux pain. I had such bad pain tonight. I almost couldn’t mix it. I tried to mix it with liquid antacid and could barely do it. After taking it, the pain was gone in just a couple of minutes. My mouth was numb, but it was worth it to have the pain gone."

"I was prescribed these patches for pain in my knee due to chondromalacia and a dislocated kneecap. They really don't stick to my skin (even after washing the area and drying well). Also, they're hard to put on the kneecap where my pain is, they just ball up and fall off after 30 mins. I've found cutting the patch in half and surrounding the knee works. It helps with pain but nowhere close to being a 10/10 in my book, let alone a 6/10."

"For the past several years, I have used the Qualitest brand of lidocaine patches. It was absolutely great. Really helped my pain, plus it stuck to my skin REALLY WELL. I can no longer find that brand at ANY pharmacy (as they are even unable to order them). However, I have found the Watson/Actavis/Teva (all the same company) to be good. Also, the Endo brand is good. Tried the Mylan brand, and they WILL NOT stick to skin. I would not bother carrying these things home even if they GAVE them to me."

"I have used lidocaine 5% patches for pain with great effect until my pharmacy switched to a generic version manufactured by Actavis (Teva). My original patches were thick with a nice firm gel, easy to use, and stayed on well. Actavis brand patches are flimsy, easily fold back on themselves when removing the backing, and do not stick for 12 hours, sometimes they fall off after 6 hours and seldom stay on for 8 hours. They also have a very loose, sticky gel that leaks out of the sides of the patch and gets all over the skin, hands, clothing, and bedding. Actavis patches are a very poor brand that is not inexpensive but very obviously cheaply made. I'm afraid I'm stuck with their mess/lack of sticking unless I can find a way to not be forced to use their inferior generic version. I do not recommend Actavis patches unless you have no other option."
