For Lactose Intolerance "I have a pretty mild lactose intolerance usually. A big dairy meal can result in an upset stomach, cramping, and gas. I tried a lactase enzyme to hopefully relieve my minor symptoms. Upon taking the pill, my symptoms seriously escalated! I’ve tried it twice now, and both resulted in a terrible upset stomach, diarrhea, and vomiting. Googling the enzyme reveals no side effects, but after looking through these reviews, I’d recommend using it with caution!"

For Lactose Intolerance "I have mild lactose intolerance, so I decided to take some lactase before eating some mozzarella, which I can normally handle with only mild discomfort. Within 15 minutes of taking the lactase, I was nauseous and dry heaving into the toilet. Would not recommend. I tried taking it in the past as well with similar outcomes, but thought it was a fluke. Now I know."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "Okay, so I’ve been suffering from undiagnosed stomach problems they wrote off as IBS, and well, I’m not buying it. But point is, they tested me, and it showed I was lactose intolerant. So, me being the person I am, I didn’t want to upset my stomach more, so I bought Equate lactose pills. At first, I took one or two and no problems, although I never had horrible discomfort from dairy anyway, just the occasional runs. But BOY WAS I IN FOR IT! So, I took 3 lactose pills because 'no side effects,' right? WRONG. That was my first warning because a couple hours later, I felt like I was going to vomit, and that feeling lasted two days. But I figured it was what I ate. SOO, fast forward to last night, I ate mac and cheese at 2 am, and me being scared it would hurt my stomach, I took 3 lactose pills. And THE NEXT MORNING, I WOKE UP IN PAIN, and I ended up vomiting for the first time in 4 years. So no more pills (figures because I ate nachos and fried mac and cheese prior with no pills, and I was fine)."

For Lactose Intolerance "Do yourself a favor and don’t buy these pills. They won’t help you and only give you false hope. I tried these pills out in an attempt to help me wean dairy out of my diet since I usually get an upset stomach when I eat it, but I figured I could treat myself every once in a while by using these. They worked for the first 4-5 times, and then I took two to eat a pizza. Worst mistake of my life. I ended up running to the bathroom and nearly pooping my pants and then projectile vomiting eight times into my bathtub. I seriously felt like my stomach was just a super soaker full of stomach acid and pepperoni. At the time, I figured I had just gotten food poisoning, so I took another one tonight in order to eat an ice cream cone. Tonight is when it clicked that it was the pill, I’ve been toilet-bound for the last three hours and once again find myself vomiting into my tub. Please do not buy these. Save your money and try other milk alternatives if you can."

For Lactose Intolerance "Do not take this stuff. 1 pill, horrible gas pain, vomiting, diarrhea. I read the other reviewers, exactly my experience. I am now laying in bed, after 3 hours of vomiting and diarrhea. Worse I've ever been. FDA, take this off the market!!!"

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "I am mildly lactose intolerant and have used Lactaid brand milk for several months without issue. Suddenly, one day after ingesting this product, I became violently ill with extreme stomach pain and vomiting. This occurred almost immediately and lasted for nearly 10 hours. I was fairly certain that I was experiencing a reaction to the Lactaid product for a number of reasons. I think most people experiencing this level of pain would have rushed to the emergency room. Don't ingest things your body can't process, regardless of what they tell you."

For Lactose Intolerance "Tried these about six months ago, and within a few hours, was vomiting along with profuse cold sweating. Thought it was a bug or perhaps the pills were past their expiration date. Tossed that bottle and worked up the nerve to try them again. Big mistake. Two hours after taking them, nausea and stomach cramps set in. Vomiting and the worst diarrhea ever set in soon after. Will not be taking these again."

For Lactose Intolerance "I tried lactase inxe while pregnant and ended up vomiting profusely. I chalked it up to pregnancy woes. Just tried it again (over a year later, obviously not still pregnant). I have been vomiting so intensely that my 3-year-old is terrified. I'm experiencing abdominal cramping, sudden diarrhea, and horrible retching. FAR sicker than I would have been just eating the dairy alone."

For Lactose Intolerance "Like others, I had a horrible experience. First couple of times, it was fine. But the last two times have been terrible. I vomited everything up, had aches and pains, almost passed out. I’m so glad I realized what it was the second time and will never use it again. I’m annoyed that this info isn’t more widely spread, as I would never have used it if I’d known this."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "The first time I took this, I experienced extreme stomach ache, believing that my body was just not used to it. A few hours later, I experienced diarrhea. I was very confused, but I used it again the next few days, and the second time, it did the same thing. The only difference was I experienced horrible vomiting, my throat was burning so bad I was in horrible pain. After doing some research about it, many people have experienced the same thing. DON’T BUY THEM, NOT WORTH IT."

For Lactose Intolerance "The first time I took this pill, I didn't experience any side effects. Then I took the chewable a week later, and I had the worst experience that I have had in my life! I was extremely nauseous, weak, shaking, had the chills, and had severe diarrhea. I thought I had gotten sick or something, so I tried the pill again, this time, the side effects were way worse and extreme. I was vomiting so badly, had stomach cramps, couldn't sleep from the pain, weak, shaking, I felt like I was going to pass out. I would recommend this product to anybody."

For Lactose Intolerance "After giving my son this pill and sending him off to school, we received a call within 2 hours that he was throwing up with chills! His body temp dropped. After vomiting within a few hours, he was okay, we didn’t put two and two together until tonight. Prior to eating, we gave him the pill again, and sure enough, two hours later he is vomiting and extremely nauseous. We did a search on the pills and are shocked to see so many other people dealing with the same symptoms. My wife actually said one of the ingredients is another name for formaldehyde! I don’t know how this stuff is on the shelf, and I’m extremely upset over it! Something needs to be done to stop them from continuing to sell this and cause harm to others!"

For Lactose Intolerance "My mom bought these for me a while ago. I was hesitant to try, as I’d read some pretty bad reviews. I have lactose intolerance, it’s not life-debilitating (usually just gives me diarrhea or stomach pain), but sometimes I just want some dairy! So finally, a few weeks ago, I gave them a try. They worked, so I tried them maybe 3 other times. Then, last week, oh man. I tried them with my dinner (pasta with creamy sauce), and 2 hours later, when I got home, I had severe back pain, nausea, the shakes, etc. I vomited for the first time as an adult. I had about 3 sessions, puking 10 times altogether, and diarrhea too. I thought I had food poisoning! Fast forward to today, a week later, I wanted cheese, so I had lactaid again because I figured my illness was from food. Exactly 2 hours later, my back began to hurt, and I ended up experiencing the EXACT same thing. I’m sitting here now, still shaky. DO NOT USE THESE. This is 10,000 times worse than ANY effect I’ve had from dairy. Feel better, everyone."

For Lactose Intolerance "My son is 10 years old, and we have suspected a lactose intolerance for a few years and confirmed it this year. We tried this 3 times, and every time he ended up vomiting. :( The 1st time, I thought he had a stomach virus and dismissed the correlation with him trying lactase. He can tolerate very small amounts of dairy, it seems, without major issues. Maybe this is why the enzyme doesn't seem to work for him if he's able to break down small amounts?"

For Lactose Intolerance "I've been lactose intolerant since my early 20s. I used to take lactase back then and thought it just didn't work well for me. Then one day I took some and ended up vomiting up the ice cream I ate. I figured my intolerance was just that bad, and I've avoided dairy entirely since. Recently, I ordered dairy-free dip, and my shopper accidentally grabbed the wrong one. I eat cheese with no issues and thought, maybe I'll get some lactase and try with this, so it doesn't go to waste. I took 2, ate some dip, and felt bloated and nauseous after. I thought, maybe I just need to take more next time. Horrible mistake. It's a few days later. I took 4 and ate some dip and I've been violently ill since. Vomiting, cramping, nausea, diarrhea...I've not been this sick in years. I will never touch lactase again."

For Lactose Intolerance "I have lactose intolerance. I love ice cream, but it gives me diarrhea. Eating cereal in milk gives me lots of gas for about 12 hours. I tried the Kroger brand of lactase pills twice. Both times, I had incessant vomiting and diarrhea. The only reason I tried it a second time is that I thought the gastrointestinal problem must have been caused by something else. Next, I tried Lactaid while eating ice cream, thinking that another brand might produce different results. No! It was every bit as bad. Interestingly, I can drink Kroger's lactose-free milk, which contains lactase, with no symptoms. Interestingly, I can eat cheese and yogurt and not have any symptoms, which is good because I also love pizza and the convenience and nutrition of Greek yogurt. I tried Breyer's lactose-free ice cream. No vomiting, but lots of diarrhea and gas, just as though it was regular ice cream."

For Lactose Intolerance "I have NEVER had such a violent reaction to anything in my life as I had when taking these. Uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea within 45 minutes of taking 2 tablets. Unfortunately, I was in a car and had no access to a washroom. It was terrible, to say the least. My advice, if you want to try them, is to take only one tablet before eating dairy and be in the comfort of your own home! I learned my lesson the hard way and will be trying lactose-free dairy products in the future."

For Lactose Intolerance "I took a few OTC lactase enzyme tablets, and I had diarrhea and vomiting. The doctor thought it was due to food poisoning, then maybe COVID. After having had COVID, I went out at lunch, took lactase again, and was nauseated, violently vomited, and barricaded in a public restroom. My husband called an ambulance 45 minutes later because I was weak, vomiting, shaking, and couldn’t stand, and my complexion was strangely bluish. At the hospital, I shivered uncontrollably, with no temperature (I note others mentioned this symptom). After a hospital exam, including an unremarkable ultrasound of the abdomen, I was released. To diagnose the cause of vomiting, my PCP referred me to an allergist who said the sudden, eruptive vomiting and shivering had not been an allergic reaction but could have been caused by lactose intolerance. So I tried full-dose lactase again with dairy. A few hours later, acute nausea led to sudden vomiting. Concerningly, some lactase supplements have 80% negative reviews here, which may indicate either new or undisclosed side effects."

For Lactose Intolerance "Do not take Lactaid. When I first ordered it, I was really hoping I had found the cure to my lactose intolerance, but after using it a few times and feeling bad both times, and ultimately puking my guts out today, I have learned this drug doesn't work. Don’t waste your money on it."

For Lactose Intolerance "After a few episodes of projectile vomiting on my way home from having a few cheese curds and a Lactaid pill, it's safe to say I will never take this drug again. So glad and also upset to have found all the other reviews that are so similar! The first few times I took it, there were no side effects. This third and final time was by far the worst!!"

For Lactose Intolerance "As sorry as I am to see so many have had severe vomiting, it's comforting to know that I'm not alone. I had a horrible experience with vomiting and the runs after taking Lactaid. That said, I don't agree with those calling for it to be taken off the market. My son uses this a couple of times a day, if not more, with no issues. His diet is heavy with dairy (for reasons that I'm not going to explain), and these pills have made it possible for him to eat. I'm glad they exist for him. I will never take another one, but they can be good for many people."

Then, every time she went to her boyfriend's place (big dairy-loving family), she would call to come home because she was vomiting. It took us a month to figure out it was these pills. She just avoids dairy now and finds other alternate 'milks' and ice creams."

For Lactose Intolerance "Violently ill each time I've tried it. Takes about 2 hours, then severe nausea kicks in. And then the projectile vomiting, along with explosive diarrhea - at the same time! Spent hours on the toilet with a puke bucket in my lap. Terrible stomach pains, chills, weakness too. Awful, awful. Trashing the rest of the box."

Lactase for Lactose Intolerance "In the 20 years I’ve been with my husband, he has never vomited once. He tried Lactaid to help curb other stomach issues with dairy. Used it twice and was fine. The third time he tried them before a slice of plain quesadilla and projectile vomited all over a hotel bathroom and was ill/sore for DAYS. We thought it was food poisoning until he tried them again and same thing, needed to vomit, gas, bloating, diarrhea. Horrible, these should come with a warning."

For Lactose Intolerance "Oh wow!!! Horrible! The gastroenterologist told us to get lactase dairy relief pills for our 13-year-old daughter. Three weeks later and she's been so much worse than ever. I started trying to figure out why she's vomiting and feeling constant nausea. Finally down to these lactase pills and I am so glad I found this site!!!!! We are stopping them today. Unfortunately, she already took some this morning, so we're going to have another bad sick day... :( The pains and vomiting are terrible... This is awful."
