For Dietary Supplementation "100 to 200 mg 3 times a day helps me with generalized anxiety disorder. I also have powdered form. 1/8 tsp under my tongue relaxes my brain. Lowers cortisol at night for better sleep. Tapering off gabapentin with l-theanine and melatonin before bed. God bless, keep looking forward."

For Dietary Supplementation "I can truly appreciate this supplement, not prescription, to clarify. I’ve been taking this supplement for about a month. I refused to get hooked on benzos, anti-anxiety meds, so I researched and found that this was a much better fit. I had no side effects, just relaxation at bedtime, which is when I take it, 100 mg along with 400 mg of magnesium only at bedtime because you will be ready to sleep after taking it. I was experiencing anxiety, and this helped me a great deal. I have even recommended it to others, of course, if their physician gives the green light, as mine did. It crosses the blood-brain barrier, and that’s what I needed."

For Dietary Supplementation "I was looking for something that would help calm my brain down so I could stop overthinking about things, all in all without prescription drugs. I stumbled across L-Theanine in Walmart, so I decided to give it a try. As soon as I took it, about an hour later, I felt like I had my peace of mind back. I wasn't stressed or anxious, and it gave me my motivation back. I don't think it was a placebo effect because I haven't felt this way in a long time. I noticed in a lot of reports that people take it for sleep, but I feel it has the opposite effect on me. I feel like it gives me energy and motivation to get things done. I take about 200mg at a time, about twice a day. In a way, it kind of gives me a euphoric feeling, but not the type that is induced by prescription drugs. It's hard to explain, but it's more like a clear, peaceful, dreamy, motivational state. L-Theanine is a miracle supplement as it helps out with a bunch of my mental/anxiety issues all at once."

For Dietary Supplementation "I told my psych that the clonazepam isn't working as well as it used to (and I'm going to be slowly tapering off the drug so I can be free of that prison!), and he recommended I use theanine (200 mg, 2 times per day, as needed). The first time I used it, within 30 minutes I was so relaxed - peaceful, calm, and it was easier to read an article because I wasn't always getting distracted. Taking 200 mg in the morning and then again at night was great, and now that I've started tapering off my clonazepam, I am using theanine to help with slight withdrawal symptoms. I'm praying this is what will finally get me off the benzo! This stuff is fantastic...for me. Just be sure to talk with your doc on how to taper off any benzos before you do it yourself. Going cold turkey can be deadly. The only issue is that it seems to make me a little foggy for a short period of time during the morning. But my work product is much better - especially when taking before drinking coffee."

For Dietary Supplementation "I have had to rely on Xanax for the past 25 years, plus a beta blocker to fall asleep and stay asleep due to most likely an inherited genetic condition. However, in the past few weeks, I’ve started taking L-theanine (100mg capsules) in the evenings after dinner to see if I could lower the intake of Xanax and/or not experience wakefulness in the very early morning hours (between 3 am - 5 am). I started at the recommended dose of 100-200 mg and by the fourth day, I took 600 mg - on the day that I took the 600 mg after dinner and before I take my beta blocker, I noticed a difference in my relaxation. Furthermore, I am taking 25% less Xanax. I slept very soundly through the night - also backed up by my smartwatch sleep monitor - which indicated a 4.5-5.0 on the sleep quality scale (5-point scale). I will continue to take the 600mg after dinner to help with my sleep disorder. I would love to be off benzodiazepines or at least lowering my dose by 50-75%."

For Dietary Supplementation "I take about 800 mg of L-theanine approx 1/2 hour before skating competitions to reduce my stage fright/performance anxiety. I have also taken it before presentations at work. It works amazingly well at eliminating my anxiety and allowing me to focus so that I can utilize all my practice and preparation (without being hindered by anxiety). The other benefit of L-theanine is that it doesn't make me drowsy. My Naturopath first prescribed it, and now I just buy it."

"I use L-theanine to help with my anxiety and OCD. I take 400 mg - 600 mg 1 - 2 times a day as needed. It has helped to calm and relax in intense situations. An evening dose has helped calm the anxiety keeping me awake at night. It also takes the edge off of caffeine and helps calm nerves for public speaking."

For Dietary Supplementation "I take L-Theanine Stress Formula with Calming Blend by Sundown. It greatly helps me relax at night time. It is not like taking a benzodiazepine, but definitely helps take the edge off. I am prescribed Adderall for trouble concentrating. I sometimes use it with Adderall to decrease jitteriness. I also often mix L-Theanine with Valerian (whole root, not extract) to help me sleep."

For Dietary Supplementation "I am a 53-year-old female and have ADD. For almost 1 year, I was having extremely difficult memory problems. There weren't enough Post-it notes in the world to help relieve my anxiety about my progressing memory problem. The biggest result I have had is the ability to focus on my work, assimilate information, and stay on task. I've taken prescribed medications (Ritalin, Xanax) in an effort to correct my mild ADD. This supplement is a life-saver and job-saver for me."

For Dietary Supplementation "I have been taking l-theanine for almost a year now with stops, of course. The longest I have taken it was about 2-3 months, every day 400mg in the morning and 200mg at lunch (if needed). I started at a lower dose but moved up quickly. It has helped me a lot. I have C-PTSD, generalized anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum, and depression. I also suffer from PMDD. It doesn't work for every panic-anxiety-PTSD episode I get, but sometimes even diazepam doesn't help. Most of those episodes get better in half an hour, I regain the ability to think clearly again, though I still experience intense emotions. However, they stop controlling me. It doesn't help me with sleep though, I actually get quite active. I can honestly say that l-theanine is saving me from addiction to benzodiazepines. Now I only take diazepam about 2 out of 10 times I have breakdowns. It doesn't give me brain fog, it actually lowers my heart rate (I have 90BPM almost constantly). The only issue I have with it is that it only works for 4 hours."

"I started it around June after doing extensive research on it online. I was going through a very stressful time in my life at the time multiple stresses in my life. Cancer scare with my mom relationship issues due to being unemployed. I started the drug end of June, it started working only after about 3 days. I don't know what it took so long to work. I started with 400 in the morning then started 600 mg every morning. I found that if you didn't eat something with it, it made me very sick. I read later that it had to do with the fact that it is an amino acid, so it messes with your stomach acid causing you to get sick if not taken with food. It saved my life after that. I was very close to checking in somewhere due to the constant paranoia and fear. It was literally driving me insane, being in a constant state of fear. I felt disconnected and not myself. It made things go away in almost a strange way. I remember driving and suddenly it didn't feel anxious anymore."

For Dietary Supplementation "Most effective supplement I have ever tried. Sublingual dose works in minutes. The anxiety just kind of melts away. Works great with panic disorder and OCD. I take a half dose twice a day, but see what works for you. 10 out of 10."

For Dietary Supplementation "Micro dosages. Hi - I posted last year explaining how well I felt after drinking green tea. However, 40 mg-200 mg of the supplement made me feel very uncomfortable (mentally and physically). I also mentioned giving microdosing a go. I have been taking tiny amounts of the supplement in powder form at night and in the morning for 2 months, and it has done me wonders."

For Dietary Supplementation "I was very skeptical of a supplement doing anything for my anxiety/panic, which has been pretty strong, like a nervous breakdown. I wanted to avoid SSRIs (bad experience in the past), and therapy hadn't helped. Well, I'm shocked at how powerful L-Theanine has been. I've been taking a big dose (350 mg tablet x3 a day), and it feels like I'm taking diazepam, just without side effects or withdrawals. A zen-like blanket of the mind. The worry thoughts are still there, but it's like you float through them. Hard to describe... a warm fuzzy feeling a bit like a tab of acid (from my younger days). If you're a cynic like me, try it, definitely before your doctor puts you on a hard drug."

For Dietary Supplementation "My neighbor (82 y.o.) was suffering from convulsions. She was taking plenty of antiepileptics to stop it, and in vain, and she was feeling like a 'vegetable.' Convulsions started suddenly and in the morning. Eventually, I put her on L-Taurine 1000 mg + L-Theanine 500 mg + L-Glycine 1000 mg along with PQQ 20 mg and Q10 - 100 mg, and her attacks stopped. She does not take her 'classic' meds anymore. Though she continues on her cardiac meds, the pleasant bonus of this cocktail was that her blocked arteries were cleared, which is amazing. Nobody expected this effect. She had both carotid arteries blocked at 75%, and when she went for a routine control, they were just 45% and 50%. The cardiologist was shocked. So she continues to take this cocktail already for 3 years, and her cognition and vision are significantly improved too. Highly recommend."

For Dietary Supplementation "I am a 52-year-old average size (5'10', 180 lbs) male. I suffer from severe depression, anxiety with panic attacks, and agoraphobia. Medications given by my psychiatrist only stabilize me to be functional. THEN I found L-Theanine. When my anxiety begins rising toward a panic attack (throwing my mood deeper into depression), I take 200mg of L-Theanine. Within 45 minutes, I just notice 'hey, no panic attack yet' and 'I feel so calm.' If I still feel a bit anxious after 45 minutes, I take another 200mg. I take 200mg before I leave my home. It doesn't make me tired but does give me a relaxed sleep. The only side effects I have noticed are sometimes a slight headache and moderate nausea if I take on an empty stomach. I prefer it over Rx meds to avoid the dizziness and chance of addiction. L-Theanine has dramatically improved my quality of life. It is my lifesaver!"

For Dietary Supplementation "Using L-theanine is my final step in curing myself from the terrible side effects of benzodiazepines. I worked long and hard to get off of 15 years of using benzodiazepines when I became intolerant 4 years ago. I now use L-theanine 200 mg four to five times per day, and life is good."

For Dietary Supplementation "I was diagnosed with anxiety about a year and a half ago and refuse to take prescription medication due to the long-term side effects. I did hours and hours of research to find something that helped. I found L-Theanine, which is NOT a drug as some have mentioned, and have experienced nothing but relief. For those with anxiety still drinking caffeine and still having anxiety/panic, kick the caffeine out of your life!! I'd have all-day anxiety and insomnia but after taking 100mg of L-Theanine 3 times per day, I have felt much better without taking a drug. Give this a try, it's not a drug."

For Dietary Supplementation "I have taken l-theanine for several months after WLS. I suffer from anxiety, and it has helped me a lot. I drink it with coffee, and it gets me through the day. I take 100-200 mg a day. Today I took 300 mg. I completed all of my college assignments, which I sometimes procrastinate on... I feel relaxed and motivated. I think it works for some of us, but not for all. I love it!"

For Dietary Supplementation "I get migraines with aura and numb limbs. I took 400 mg, and the migraine disappeared slowly and not as bad as it gets. It was getting better before the ER IV Benadryl and oxygen."
For Dietary Supplementation "Decided to try this to help with minor anxiety - not interested in taking prescriptions. Started with 400 mg/day (200 mornings, 200 evenings), felt good, and was generally stress-free for a few days but wanted to see how I'd do with 300/300 mg a day (600 mg total for a day). I'm 6'4", 200 lbs. Found myself having a strange reaction one night with very low blood pressure and could literally feel my breathing getting way too shallow. I already have low blood pressure. Backed off of this and only did 200 mg in the morning, cut way back on caffeine, and feel much better. Just be careful if you go above 400 mg/day. Also, the half-life of l-theanine is very long and stays in your system for a while, so keep this in mind. Overall, I do recommend l-theanine if you know what you're doing."
