For Depression "I started this supplement with high hopes. I was given it to boost the effectiveness of the Pristiq I'm taking. After using it for over a month, I'm disappointed. Really have experienced no change. I'll keep searching for the right combination of meds."

For Folate Deficiency "I am 66 years old and have suffered from ADD, depression, brain fog, fatigue, and extreme anxiety all my life. 30 years ago, I was put on dextroamphetamine 3-4 times a day, and it was a miracle. I came to life, both physically and especially mentally, and I slept wonderfully. Now that drug has little to no effect on me. My doctor, after doing a genetic test on me, says I have a gene mutation and prescribed Deplin for me. At first, I felt nothing, now, 2 months later, I feel a difference. Not a huge difference."

For Depression "MUST take Deplin and not a generic and definitely not over-the-counter folic acid or folate! These can make things worse! My C spinal fluid showed that I have a less prominent type of folate abnormality. Wasn't detected in a gene swab test. Anyway, just started taking 15 mg as an antidepressant add-on. Made my depression & anxiety worse!!! I would stop taking it, but my doc has me taking a lower dose as she recognizes that Deplin can cause a worsening of symptoms in certain folks. It just needs to be started low and gradually increased. So, please start with a low dose if it makes you MORE anxious/depressed at 15 mg. Too early to say it helps, but the lower dose is needed to start, for some. And it may take many months to work--for some!"

"I finished the 6-day trial, and I must say I felt so good on the last 2-3 days on Deplin. I didn't experience the crazy lows I had in the last few months. I don't truly have depression, more like bipolar II, and on no medications. I love my emotions and want to work with them, so my naturopath suggested we try Deplin. I will be seeing her again next week, and I will ask her to continue it."

For Depression "Like many others, I took the Genomind test, which told me that SSRIs were not optimal and that SNRIs were a better choice. After 16 years and 20 different meds, I have had much better success with SSRIs than SNRIs. The test results also said that I was deficient in what Deplin could provide. I have been taking 15 mg of Deplin for almost 3 weeks now and have been experiencing some of the lowest depression that I have ever felt. Today, I woke up feeling just as miserable as I have been for the past 3 weeks, so I decided not to take Deplin. As I slumped through the morning, I started to feel a wave of happiness and excitement for life come over me around 10:30 am, and I still feel great. I feel like 'my' normal self again. $60 wasted!"

For Depression "I took this for a while at the recommendation of my psychiatrist. I have the double MTHFR mutation. It did nothing for me and is prohibitively expensive. I’m not sure if I buy into their MTHFR serotonin theory, but it seems to work for some. For me, I would get these weird sensations in my hands and feet, almost like they were heavier or more sensitive, and I felt like my sleep was less restful (even I got 8 hours consistently) because I was always tired. It made me feel off as well, but I assume that is just depression medication in general."

"I never responded to any medication for anxiety and depression, which was made worse by most medications. Deplin was a miracle for me. I started to use it this summer, and my response was immediate. My response seemed to pop out this summer, but I learned that some people can have this response and need to lower the dose and start and stop the medication. Also, my response could have been due to the Klonopin that I reduced after 20 years of usage. Overall, this medicine was a miracle for me."

For Folate Deficiency "I took a gene test after nearly having no luck with any SSRIs and all the negative side effects. Once I started taking this, I was able to take 5 mg Lexapro and 0.5 mg of Rexulti with no side effects, especially zero sexual side effects. I had depression, anxiety, DP/DR, and it nearly broke me last year. But this stuff, I believe, changed my life and allowed my body to react positively to the medications."

For Depression "I've been using antidepressants for quite a few years now. I seem to have gone through the entire list of antidepressants. My latest script is Escitalopram Tabs, 10 mg. We recently added Abilify and this Deplin Caps, 15 mg. I've been feeling a bit better. One of these two gives me an awful case of heartburn! Painful it is. I'll mention it during my next appointment. Now, as before, I can't watch anything with intense emotions as I'll break down and start crying. At age 52, I find it a bit annoying. Before I added these last two medicines, I found myself crying more frequently than not. The movie 'UP' really freaked me out. Anyway, I'm disabled with intractable pain. That's what started all the depression stuff."

For Folate Deficiency "Deplin has changed my life. If I had the choice of winning the lottery with unlimited funds or this medication, I would choose Deplin every time. I am 49, female, with ADHD. I suffer debilitating symptoms from it, the worst being poor memory and impaired executive function and focus. After taking 15 mg for just 3 weeks, I saw results. My memory went from that of an 80-year-old dementia patient to the memory I had as a young adult. I'm able to focus and actually get stuff accomplished and checked off my list every day. I was lifted right out of the sinking depression I was in due to the helplessness of living with a short-term memory problem. This pill needs to have a public service announcement made to everyone. So many people could be helped."

For Depression "I was having major anxiety and insomnia stemming from shoulder surgery. I wasn’t sure what was wrong with me. I eventually found a psychiatrist, and he prescribed Klonopin. That made me more depressed. I decided I needed a better psychiatrist. After meeting with this doctor, he decided to do the genetic testing. Three days later, I found I have MTHFR. Compound heterozygous. I've been on Deplin 15 mg for over a year. I also take 10 mg Lexapro per day. Anxiety is better, and I’m not nearly as angry. Changed my life for the better. Better late than never. I’m 54."

For Depression "I took Deplin during a former depressive episode, but in a much smaller dose. I cannot say if it helped with the effects of depression. During this episode, my doctor recommended taking 15 mg. I was taking Deplin for 3 months. I was having unbearable anxiety and began looking carefully at the side effects of my meds. Deplin can cause severe anxiety, along with other negative side effects. There is an article online called ‘Anxiety Nutrition Solutions’ by Trudy Scott with Dr. Benjamin Lynch. He is a major supporter of methyl folate. He talks in the article about the different side effects patients can experience on Deplin, severe anxiety among them. If you’re taking Deplin and are feeling anxiety, please read."

For Depression "I had been struggling with depression for many years. Had many bad experiences with the usual anti-depressants, SSRIs and such. After doing the gene psych test and finding out I was homozygous for the MTHFR gene, I asked my doctor if I could try Deplin, and he said yes. After just three days, it felt like my depression had mostly gone away. After three months, I continue to feel better still. This drug has really been a miracle for me. And I have experienced zero side effects from it. I take the 15 mg. I take it in combination with 7.5 mg of mirtazapine. I hope this helps somebody who is on the fence about taking Deplin. It is a little bit pricey, but for me, it has been worth every penny."

For Depression "For the past several years, I have been trying to find the right balance to deal with the anxiety and depression of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have been on Citalopram for the depression, and that seems to work well. It has been hard to find an antipsychotic that works, and currently, I'm on Latuda. I'm also on a mood stabilizer, Lamictal. My doctor added Deplin. Long story, I wound up without my Latuda and Deplin for about 6 weeks. In 6 weeks, I was off the charts on the ups, and my old patterns were popping up. Not good. I went back on the Latuda and began evening out, but still had too much up. Now I've been back on the Deplin for a week, and I feel completely numb. Trouble sleeping at the right times, trouble being awake or at least alert at the right times."

For Depression "I am taking 225 mg of Lamictal for depression. The Dr. wanted me to try this along with the Lamictal. I took it once, at bedtime, and woke up with the worst headache I've had in my entire life, and it lasted all day. Also had very loud ringing in my ears, which lasted all day. Not good. Needless to say, I did not take it again, so I cannot comment on its effectiveness."

For Depression "I was so hopeful hearing about the possibilities of Deplin and depression. I've tried twice, once at 15 mg for about a week, and had bad headaches. My doctor suggested taking half (7.5 mg) the dose to see if my body would adjust at a lower dose, and unfortunately, it hasn't. In the early start, though, my mood was better, and I was sleeping restfully while on it for a short time. The headaches are like migraine severity. They start in the neck, up the back of my head, and towards my ears. They last for a few days, during which I have to take Aleve just to be able to manage the pain. It would have been great to see if this would continue to improve my depression, but it's definitely not worth the painful side effects I experience."

"Prescribed for my young daughter with autism and epilepsy, anxiety - hair pulling, but the dose was too high and caused even more anxiety, so found reducing it from every day to once a week, and sometimes just twice a month makes a huge difference for her to receive the benefit without the heightened anxiety. I muscle test for the amount and timing, and notice when she is pulling her eyelashes, hair, or eyebrows."

For Depression "I am heartened by the 6 reviews. I have just started on Deplin. I have been on Remeron for two years. I cannot tolerate serotonin-type medicines such as Prozac and Lexapro. Remeron worked beautifully at first, but the effects have slowly worn off, and my anxiety and mild depression returned. I pray Deplin will work for me and I can regain my enthusiasm and joy in life. I am happy for those of you who have been helped. Wish me luck."

For Depression "I take Lexapro 20 mg, which works well for my anxiety but not quite so well for my depression, and I was always tired. I started taking 15 mg Deplin and quickly started to feel more energy. I have more motivation now and just feel better in general. I do have the homogenous C667T MTHFR variant and also had a slight folate deficiency before starting."

For Depression "I started taking Deplin along with my other meds for depressive disorder and CPTSD. It may have boosted my energy, but it caused extreme anxiety. I haven’t felt as panicky while out in public in years as I did while taking Deplin. The anxiety stopped once I stopped taking it."

For Depression "Deplin may have saved my life from menopausal depression. I am heterozygous for the C677T polymorphism in the MTHFR gene, but I never had mood issues until late peri-menopause (2023). In late March, throughout April, and half of May, I experienced serious mood changes related to lower endogenous estrogen. Despite having an estrogen + doctor and good HRT, my mood deteriorated to the point where I went from highly productive and functional to extremely lethargic, unmotivated, exhausted, and deeply emotionally vacant. I felt like a shell of myself. I told my new psychiatrist about the genetic test from 2018, and he recommended Deplin 15 mg in addition to the Lexapro I had started a year before. I was skeptical, but about 3 weeks after starting it, I noticed a significant improvement in my mood, sleep, energy, and motivation, and it remains. If you’re in menopause and having difficulty with your mood, you may want to ask your doctor about Deplin and/or the genetic test."

For Depression "I've gone through deep shit, to the wall depression - had ECT, et al. while on meds. Went off and have NOOOO regrets b/c I finally started having feelings again (after 25 years on meds)... But I went through deep retaliation at work for speaking out against a bully, and the PTSD from that became deeply real only after two lawsuits were settled and every state/federal complaint was successfully settled. I won... but the PTSD won even more. And you think you can find a shrink who looks at alternatives to antidepressants? HA! My only salvation came in the form of my doctor, an internist, who suggested I go to ER b/c of thyroid stuff. While 5 days on a med/surg unit was not free from shit... I got connected with a shrink who prescribed THIS."

For Depression "Terrible! I was on it 3 days while also on Viibryd, and it caused me SEVERE anxiety. I was found to have a compound heterozygous gene mutation, and the psychiatrist thought this should help. Wrong. I also found out through the gene test I cannot take SSRIs. Viibryd is a hybrid SSRI. The combination was bad news for me, and I had to stop the AD cold turkey because the blast of Deplin apparently caused me serotonin overload. Still struggling 4 weeks later. From what I've researched, L-methyl folate should be started at SMALL doses, like 400 mg, NOT 15 mg (Deplin). Lord!"

"Deplin changed my life since 2016. I’ve been on every antipsychotic and every mood-stabilizing drug there is. Deplin has changed my life. Not a lot has it made my body feel more alive and combats dissociating from malnutrition (MTHFR deficiency). The Deplin helps both my body and brain. I have had many years in psych treatment, meds, hospitals, etc. Deplin 15 mg is the med I take first before anything else. I won’t let myself forget! It helps both my mood and my psychosis."

For Depression "I'm tapering off Prozac and am only taking 2.5 mg. I prefer not to go on SNRIs or SSRIs. I asked my psychiatrist what I could try instead. He suggested Deplin 15 and gave me 12 capsules. I have taken 6 so far, and the only thing I noticed is that it slows my lower GI tract. Hoping for better feelings in the future."
