Insulin aspart for Diabetes, Type 1 "Novolog has worked for me so far. It does increase my appetite, though. I got a sample from my doctor's office to begin. I then went to the pharmacy to fill my prescription and found that it costs over $500.00. I did find a discount RX card on Novonordisk's website, but it states that you may pay as little as $25.00. I read the fine print and it states, reimbursement $100 per prescription. Has anyone here ever used it? I had to find a card so I could afford my Lantus as well. I would just like to know what to expect. If it's $25.00 or only up to $100 per RX of what they cover. I'm newly diagnosed, and I would appreciate any help."

Insulin aspart for Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2 diabetic 30 years, and have heart problems, attacks/stents (14 pills each day & Tresiba daily, Trulicity weekly & Novolog 3 times daily). Have taken Novolog a few months now, and it has not done anything as well as Humalog. I am frustrated and do not trust my doctors & pharmacy folks much anymore."

Insulin aspart for Diabetes, Type 1 "The insulin works, but they leak and come apart inside and are horrible inaccurate because they leak and get air in them. Be very careful. I rarely use them because of problems. A syringe is way more accurate because they don't fall apart or get air in them like the other cheap ones."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "I've been a Type 1 diabetic since 1981. I started with Humalog + long-acting and syringes three times a day. I've been using a Medtronic pump for the last 10+ years and have used both Humalog and Novolog with no discernible difference. A year ago, my Medicare Rx insurer formulary required that I switch to FIASP...which is considered the 'generic' Novolog. Now the issues are that Novo Nordisk (largest pharma company in the world...$250 billion/year) is having production delays for both Novolog and FIASP....so I literally can get either one where I live....because they are on 'back order'. As the insurance limits me to a 30-day supply....I'm now out and nowhere to turn!!!! Humalog (Lilly) had production troubles in the spring. I'm not a conspiracist....but the timing sure seems to be coincidental with the new cap on the $35/month."

Insulin aspart for Type 2 Diabetes "I use both Novolog and a slow-acting insulin. At first, Novolog worked pretty well after meals, but then I started to see a delay and a continued spike after two hours. I have seen improvement in fasting BGL, but I have also gained back some weight I had lost just on the slow insulin. Using fast-acting insulin is more frustrating because it adds in more monitoring on BGL, and you risk injecting too much, causing low blood sugars. I just think you're best trying to avoid using insulin as long as you can because it is sort of a grind to start using insulin."

Insulin aspart for Diabetes, Type 1 "I was recently moved from another short-acting insulin to the NovoLog FlexPen prefilled syringes, and I have to say that I absolutely don't like having to use this pen. I can never seem to get the pen needles to thread correctly on the pen, and the whole thing feels incredibly cheap with very poor allowances. From observation, it appears the first unit of each injection is less than a full dose compared to the second or third units in an injection, and the poor manufacturing allowances just make for a product that feels cheap, sloppy, and inaccurate. The difficulties in threading the pen needle alone are aggravating enough, but right now I'm locked into this particular brand thanks to insurance (which I have an entirely different tirade about). Everything just feels so loose and cheap and frustrates me every time I have to correct my sugars."

Insulin aspart for Type 2 Diabetes "I was forced to switch to this from Humalog when I changed insurance companies, and so far, I've had a terrible experience with this product. It says it's short term, yet I've been told to take it way before eating, unlike my previous Humalog, which was right before eating. So far, in my experience, it's more like mid-term insulin that takes far too long to begin to work, and then when it finally does, it takes six hours or more before it wears off. This has caused me numerous low blood sugar events, some of which have woken me in the night with a blood sugar read of 47. Really scary. Unfortunately, I was told by one doctor, that's what your insurance pays for, so get used to it. I understand the insurance companies want to make money and all, but they're allowed to dictate what medications I can and can't take. Answer: YES! I'm going to see my doctor in a couple of days and will be discussing this with her in the hopes of being able to go back to Humalog."

Insulin aspart for Diabetes, Type 1 "Was on several different insulins as a child in 1962. I never had insurance. I married in 1974. The doctor changed from Humalog to Novolog around 1982-85, which worked much better for me than Humalog. Novolog works much faster than Humalog. I've been type 1 for 68 years. In 1982, it cost $9.80. The price went up over several years. A friend became diabetic, and he had insurance. He supplied my insulin and syringes for many years. I called the drug store and found out that Novolog insulin was $380.00. I retired and got on Medicare and insurance supplements. I got the pump in 2024 now, but I “had” to switch back to Humalog later. Medicare would not help me. My blood sugars are all over the board, and my insurance, Cigna, does not cover Novolog. I’ll be changing insurance hoping the end of 2025 to whoever the heck carries Novolog insulin on their plan if I don’t die."

Insulin aspart for Type 2 Diabetes "After increasing my dosage from once to twice daily, I have gained 20 lbs in 5 months. After the first 2 months, developed heart failure, and I get out of breath very easily. Will be speaking to my endocrinologist regarding these unwanted side effects. Have only seen the doctor one time in 6 months, otherwise, dealing with a nurse practitioner."

Insulin aspart for Type 2 Diabetes "I love insulin pens, ease of use, easy for travel. I hate Fiasp pens. I was required to switch to this insulin because Novolog is no longer on my formulary. It does not manage my glucose nearly as well as the Novolog did. It always has a large bubble in it when I go to inject. So I constantly have to use extra insulin to clear them before injecting. What a waste of insulin. Sometimes it works as it is supposed to (onset of eating or within 5 minutes after starting). At other times it doesn't work until 2-4 hours later."

For Diabetes, Type 1 "My insurance will not cover Humalog anymore. It did not work well for me but does for my husband. Then along came insulin aspart. It worked for a while with my husband. But the last 2 bottles, one gelled and stopped the pump. The other just opened, had no effect whatsoever. Bought a new bottle and it seems to be working. I am going to call insurance and see if we have to go with generic. My neighbor can get Humalog, so we trade and we are both happy. Diabetes is not cheap... 2 in the family is tough financially."

Insulin aspart for Diabetes, Type 1 "This insulin is terrible. My boyfriend almost died today because he took the normal amount of insulin, and it was too much for his body, and his sugar dropped to 26. When your sugar is that low, it can cause fatal symptoms, including passing out, disorientation, memory loss, seizures, and even death. My boyfriend ended up an hour away in the middle of nowhere, and he was lost. He was passed out and almost died, it was lucky his parents found him. SWITCH brands, this insulin is too strong and has too many side effects. My bf got lucky today, maybe he won’t next time."
