For Hypertriglyceridemia "After 2 months of Vascepa, 2 caps twice daily, had an occurrence of gout, which I didn't associate with Vascepa usage. Also, developed a progressive problem with shortness of breath, which started mildly and grew severe. Decided to review Vascepa side effects since it was the only drug added to my normal regime of meds. Appears 'gouty arthritis' and SOB are listed as patient side effects. I've discontinued use. The plasma 1/2 life of Vascepa is 89 hours, so it remains in the blood extremely long and is not excreted through the kidneys. Vascepa may have helped my high triglycerides, I will never know since side effects outweigh possible benefits."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "Taking 4g of Vascepa along with 200mg of Fenofibrate per day has reduced my triglycerides from +8 to between 2 and 3 (in metric units). Vascepa didn’t reduce my triglycerides on its own, but it somewhat helped. Fenofibrate was an effective medication. The side effects that I think are attributed to Vascepa are constipation, dizziness, and lack of stamina. I am eighty years old, but I have been very active and going to the gym for the past 35 years, five days a week, two hours per day. I do heavy weightlifting. Yet recently, I feel tired quite faster than in the past. I also experienced shortness of breath occasionally, which I think is due to my mild anxiety. I’m not taking any medication for anxiety."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "You want to avoid taking this medication if you drink alcohol, which I do daily. I was experiencing shortness of breath very badly, to the point where I was ready to go to the hospital. My fault, but my doctor should’ve informed me of such things since he knew I was a drinker. I stopped taking the medication."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I was put on this back in May. It's Sept. 2021 now, and I've been to the hospital twice in two weeks with Afib, heart palpitations, and shortness of breath. This is the only new thing I've been taking. I don't know if it's the culprit. It did its job as far as lowering my triglycerides. I took four pills a day, and it went from 1145 to 615 from May to Sept."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "I have been on Vascepa for about 18 months due to a lengthy medical history with deficits in kidney, heart, lungs, pancreas, and connective tissue. I've battled cholesterol and triglycerides and tried combinations of Lovaza and statins-nothing worked. I was prescribed Vascepa with Lipitor (10 mg). Within six months, I have huge improvements! My numbers are only a few points from being normal again, along with improvements in my kidney function, eyesight, and reduced systemic inflammation, which had caused four connective tissue tears. I no longer suffer from excruciating body pain! I have not had an asthma attack for over a year. My A1c is 5.9 from a 7.6! I feel healthier than I have felt in at least 10 years. I just learned that my insurance company wants to discontinue paying for Vascepa. My doctor is willing to help me fight this. I call this medication my personal wonder drug! I am not the best diabetic patient, so I know the Vascepa is healing me from the inside out!"
