Guaifenesin / pseudoephedrine for Cough and Nasal Congestion "I took Mucinex ER to break up my chest congestion, which it did nothing for. What it did was give me insomnia (the pseudoephedrine does this to you). I am so wired that I have severe agitation, anxiety, and I didn't sleep a wink all night. It's the next morning, and I still can't sleep! I cannot afford to miss all this sleep. Also, it has caused excess saliva, which I have to continually spit out, it is so copious. If I could sleep, I would be choking on my own spit! This is the worst medication I have ever taken, and like an idiot, I got the extended release-12 hours in my system. I know it works for some, but please think twice about taking this awful stuff."

For Cough and Nasal Congestion "I currently have the flu and am taking Tamiflu. My congestion and cough had me worried I would not be able to sleep, so I checked to make sure there wouldn't be any issues taking the Mucinex D while also taking Tamiflu. I took the Mucinex D at 8 pm and immediately felt like I couldn't go to sleep. I sat up on the phone for 2 hours listening to a discussion, trying to go to sleep. I finally did, only to wake up at 2 and be in the same situation I was in before. Unable to go to sleep, wide awake. Rest is the number one thing I need right now, and I'm not getting it because of the Mucinex D. I'm very unhappy with the drug."

Guaifenesin / pseudoephedrine for Cough and Nasal Congestion "Omg, I wish I had seen this site yesterday! I have COVID and saw recommendations to take this drug for the severe congestion. I took one yesterday morning and then again at 11 pm. I was WIDE awake all night. I slept from 4:30 to 6 am, that’s it. Omg, I was a mess, and no wonder, if I had known it had pseudoephedrine, I wouldn’t have taken it. Lesson learned: read the box. Now I get to parent young children while having COVID and no sleep, should be fun."

Guaifenesin / pseudoephedrine "I was between getting this or Sudafed. Looked up pros and cons, and the main con of Mucinex with the decongestant was that you may have difficulty sleeping. I thought, “how bad could it be,” and went with Mucinex. Took it at about 9 pm. Slept for a bit at 11 pm, but it’s now 4:30 am and I’ve been wide awake since 2. It had a minimal effect on my symptoms. Now I get to roll, still feeling sick and with 3 hours of sleep. Not worth it at all, in my opinion."
