For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Fluconazole is the BEST and ONLY drug that cures vaginal (and anal) yeast infections! I recently had to be prescribed antibiotics for a sinus infection, so I already knew I would get a yeast infection because I always do whenever I have to take antibiotics. Fluconazole gives me a lot of relief. What many people may not know is that antibiotics can cause other medical issues to develop while taking them, such as diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps, excessive gas, yeast infections, etc. Taking antibiotics this time resulted in me having a vaginal and anal yeast infection. I hate itching worse than being in pain! Thankfully, Fluconazole, hydrocortisone cream, and Benadryl always give me the needed relief when I deal with yeast infections. This was the first time that I developed anal yeast with very intense itching. Fluconazole is a life saver and I highly recommend this drug instead of OTC treatments to get rid of yeast!"

Fluconazole for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I asked my doctor for a prescription of Diflucan after Monistat 7 burned my insides worse than the infection itself! Diflucan has been great for me so far!! I was prescribed two 150 mg tablets—one to take ASAP, and the other to take three days later. I’m on day 2 of the pill being in my system, and let me tell you, although it takes a while for the pill to kick in, it really does work!!! Now, this didn’t work a mere couple of hours later for me, I didn’t start to feel relief until this morning, but a little over 24 hours after ingesting the pill, and the burning has completely gone away :) The itchiness is still prevalent, although it has subsided GREATLY. I’m still a bit sore, but that’s to be expected with a really bad yeast infection. The only side effects that I’ve really noticed with this pill are that it did leave a small patch of dry skin near my mouth (but as an eczema sufferer, this is nothing crazy for me to handle lol), and it really will give you the poops."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "So, was prescribed this for a vaginal yeast infection from antibiotics. Had to take 150 mg 1st day, then another 3 days later. After 30 mins of taking it, dizziness, nausea, headache hit me. An hour later, whole body started to itch, eyes, nose, ears, tongue, throat, extreme itching and burning, itching & prickling in the anus, can't sit or lie down. Dunno if it is an allergic reaction. Next day, bad stomach & tummy cramps, bloating, gas, sweating, a bit of diarrhea, fatigue, mood swings, dp feelings, loss of appetite, cough, chest pain, flu symptoms, throat is tingling and can't eat a damn thing without choking. Literally dunno what to do. My vag is now in co-ma. Discharge went away, the itching and irritation are still there, & I'm in a lot of pain, the yeast infection is still there. Will not take the 2nd pill. Had I known the side effects, I would have flushed this pill in the toilet. I could have just cured the yeast infection naturally with a diet, probiotics, or old-fashioned Monistat."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Fluconazole caused side effects of drowsiness, stomach ache, diarrhea, confusion, dizziness, panic attack, fast heartbeat, chills, all in less than 24 hours of taking this 150 mg one-dose pill. I will never accept this antifungal in my body again."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This medication is not a joke, I kid you not. I was able to take only 2 of 3 prescribed pills of 150 mg of this chemical for a very bad vaginal yeast infection brought on by antibiotic use, and I regret that I took this. One single pill caused pounding headaches, extreme nausea, tachycardia, chills, cold and hot flushes, profuse sweating, depression, explosive diarrhea, no appetite, fatigue, pale skin, dizziness, chest tightness, panic attacks, mental confusion, and nightmares. I felt like I was in a living nightmare or in a horror movie. That said, it did not even touch my burning, itchy, and violently discharging vagina. Even more, my vagina felt numb on this pill, and no sexual pleasure, even my poor boyfriend started to think that I was going to have a normal vagina and enjoy sex. I will never take this chemical again in my system. Now taking Candex with a probiotic and a yeast-free diet seems to be working. Hoping to bring my vagina into this world again."

For Oral Thrush "The first time I took fluconazole, I experienced diarrhea and dizziness often (was on it for several months due to oral thrush as a result of too much antibiotics and a weakened immune system). The second time I took it, my side effects were completely different (again was on it due to oral thrush and a weak immune system). Had diarrhea for only 1 day, and only felt dizzy once. But I started breaking out severely on the T-zone of my face with severely painful cystic acne. I was only on the medication for 5 days, and I broke out so much! I realized by the 3rd day that the reason I was breaking out was due to the fluconazole. It takes about a week after finishing the medication for it to completely flush out of the body. Horrible experience, had to call out from work as a result. It took me months to recover from the cystic scars. Always be cautious of what you take and how your body reacts to medication! I learned that the hard way."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am 22 and have always been prone to yeast infections. I can always tell when one is coming on because it gets swollen and sore to sit/walk/wipe. My doctor always calls me in a prescription for this, and it does the trick every time. It usually takes 1-2 days for me to feel 100% back to normal, and I always take the second pill on the 3rd day. As for side effects, the first few hours after taking it, I usually get shaky, have a little bit of diarrhea, and have a weird 'head high' type of feeling. It subsides after a little bit and doesn't last too long. I have to say that with how painful my yeast infections can get, the side effects are worth it for a few hours. I absolutely love this medicine!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I had the worst experience of my life taking this drug! I was prescribed this for a yeast infection and have been in and out of the hospital for the past four days with excessive diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and severe fatigue! I had black diarrhea and terrible body aches. I’m only just now able to eat rice and chicken broth!! It is awful, awful, awful. Ladies, go to Walmart and get the VH suppositories or pills instead. Take/insert once weekly and it’ll be gone! No side effects with those as it’s all natural!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I developed thrush after taking antibiotics and was prescribed fluconazole, a single dose. As advised, I waited 24 hours after taking my last antibiotic before taking the fluconazole tablet on Saturday. Felt fine Saturday and Sunday and thought I'd escaped without any side effects. Turned out I was very wrong! On Monday, I suddenly started feeling nauseous, dizzy, and had a headache, no energy, and diarrhea. Spent most of the day lying down. That was 12 days ago, and I am still suffering symptoms of diarrhea, abdominal and back pain, mild headache, and very low energy levels. The thrush took some time to go, and I had various other side effects in the vulval and vaginal region, which, fortunately, have now gone. I am 69 years old and suffer from both IBS and CFS/ME, and this drug has clearly exacerbated both to such a degree it is significantly limiting what I can do. No way should I have been prescribed this drug, and I certainly would never take it again."

Fluconazole for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I've taken this as needed over the years without any problem. This time, I had nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness. Our pharmacy gives a printout of all the possible side effects, and it says you can be allergic to it (as most drugs). I guess it just depends on the person on how much you need and how your body will react. It takes more than one dose for me."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This medicine works quickly. After taking the first pill, I swear I felt better in the first couple of hours. At the same time, take a week off because you will have explosive diarrhea, a headache, and the first day you will have flu-like symptoms (i.e., chills, nausea, fatigue, stomach ache, etc.). I slept the entire day and night, and each time I woke up, I went to the toilet to pee out of my bottom - yep, diarrhea. I also had no appetite at all, so I drank water the entire time. Talk about feeling/being bloated! Three days later I took my second pill, and the madness began all over again. My advice: Don’t do what I did. I took Amoxicillin (for pneumonia), which also gave me diarrhea for ten days; the Amoxicillin gave me a yeast infection, and I have to take Diflucan. We have to take better care of ourselves."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I had all the side effects listed for this medication. It was my first time using this drug. I took a 150 mg tablet, and I ended up with dizziness, diarrhea, and severe abdominal pain. I am on day 4 after taking it, and I still have lower abdominal pain from it. Please use caution!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This medication is harsh, but it is effective. I got a very severe yeast infection from a heavy dose of amoxicillin (from a tooth infection). Although I had probiotics in between and after, I still got one. So, first I cured it with creams, it went away, then came back more aggressive. This time the yeast affected my GI tract. I developed a bit of oral thrush on the tongue, then rectal itching, itchy eyes, and mucus coming out from my nose and throat, as well as inconsistent bowel movements. I was overall sick of too much yeast. I called my doctor, and he prescribed fluconazole, to be taken for 10 days, 100 mg per day. I got severe diarrhea for the first 3 days, but it is good because the yeast is coming out from your gut. Then you get super sick (flu symptoms, fever, joint pain, stomach pain, etc.), and you need to drink lots of water and herbal teas to detox from it, otherwise, your liver and kidneys will suffer. After all, this medication cured me and put me on my feet again because I was super sick after antibiotics."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I had BV and was prescribed Metronidazole. Was on that for a week and took my last dose Wednesday night. Thursday morning (yesterday) I took the Fluconazole pill. Today (Friday) I see more discharge. While I took the Metronidazole pill, the discharge was clearing up, but now it's back. It's red, so I can't even tell if it's because of the pill color or because blood is mixed in it. When I took the Fluconazole, it made me very nauseous, and I had diarrhea not even 10 minutes later. My stomach is cramping, and I don't know what from. My period went off earlier this week, so I know it can't be from that. Anyway, both prescriptions made me sick to my stomach, and I don't feel like they were very effective. I'll wait until Monday to see if it's completely gone."

For Tinea Versicolor "I was prescribed fluconazole for a skin rash caused by yeast. Instructed to take two 150 mg pills at the same time, and if the rash doesn’t clear, take the same dose a week later. Well, I did and had the worst reaction! Dizziness, diarrhea, dry mouth with an odd taste, racing heart, sweating/chills - I think I had an all-night anxiety attack. I’ve taken this med before with very little side effects, so I’m not sure what happened. It sounds like my experience is not uncommon. And my rash is still there..."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I took 4 pills, 150 mg, of this horrendous medication for yeast infection and thrush I got from another horrendous antibiotic, Amoxicillin (stay away from that drug), and none of them worked. That said, this med almost took me to the ER. Every pill I took, I thought I was dying, nausea accompanied by debilitating headache, chills, fatigue, muscle pain, sweaty; then all these symptoms are relieved by explosive diarrhea and resume when you take the next pill. Maybe this drug works for others, not for me. Now I take nystatin for my thrush along with probiotics and a low carb/sugar diet. I also take pau d'arco tea, oregano oil, and grapefruit seed extract; these all work better than this horrible drug. These yeast infections are horrible and need to be cleansed from the intestines if you took antibiotics because fluconazole will do nothing for it (it is for systemic infections), and after a few months, it will appear with revenge. Just do research on Candida, and you will be surprised!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "After taking fluconazole for a YI (vaginal), I became sick for about 36 hrs with diarrhea, and it continued each day for 3-4 days. Not worth it, and I'll do probiotics or something else next time to reduce the side effect."

For Systemic Candidiasis "I had what I thought was a yeast infection since I've had several over the years. Went through two rounds of Monistat, which eased up the pain, but it came right back. Went to the doctor yesterday, and he said that he thinks I have Candidiasis of the vulva and vagina. He prescribed two 150 mg Fluconazole, one for yesterday and the second pill in a week. I woke up this morning with horrible diarrhea. The vaginal burning is about 85% better, though. If it gets rid of the Candidiasis, I can handle the side effect."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "So I was put on fluconazole for a pretty bad vaginal yeast infection. I had a mild one in the past and had taken the one-time fluconazole pill and had zero side effects. This time I had to take one pill, 150 mg initially, then one more 3 days later. After I took the first pill, I only had mild stomach pain, which wasn’t a big deal. I started getting chills on night 2 of being on it and just felt unwell. I was extremely tired all the time. A couple of hours after taking the second pill, I felt horrible. Pale, dizzy, tired, chills, feverish, numbness in my cheeks, hands, and feet. Diarrhea, bad taste in my mouth, and a headache that came and went. I contemplated going to the ER. The yeast infection is gone, so the medicine works, but the side effects were too severe and scary. I can’t wait until this poison wears off in a few days. If you have a yeast infection, I would try Monistat and stay away from this."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am a 43-year-old female, and this was my first yeast infection. I was reluctant to take this medication because I am typically an all-natural remedy person, but the itching and burning were so intense I thought I was going to go insane! After reading reviews, I thought I would give it a try. I did not get relief like some within hours, it took one day to feel a little relief, but still very itchy. It took almost four days before the itchy part went away. I am on day six and about 95% better. I did not have any side effects, except on day three, there was a little time I felt dizzy and had diarrhea-not horrible, though. All in all, I would take this medication again if I had another yeast infection. I also cannot swallow pills but was able to break this in half (I was told I could crush it otherwise). I did also have a couple of drinks and had no side effects and didn't have any bad interactions. I would recommend."

Fluconazole for Cryptococcal Meningitis, Immunosuppressed Host "I was diagnosed with cryptococcal meningitis. Was treated with fluconazole when it was a new drug instead of the accepted amphotericin B. With the newer fluconazole, the infection was controlled without the need for inpatient hospitalization. Fluconazole has a few side effects, like diarrhea, but it ended up being mild. My biggest problem with the pill was that it would easily break down in the mouth and throat. If not taken with plain water and swallowed very quickly, it would dissolve and stick in the throat, causing gagging and leaving a foul taste for hours. On the other hand, the drug was very effective for a life-threatening condition. The few downsides were outweighed by the overwhelming benefits. The old treatment is much harsher than the fluconazole. My vote goes hand down in favor of fluconazole. Barring complications, a lifelong maintenance dose will be required, but again, a small inconvenience."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I was prescribed fluconazole for the first time for a mild yeast infection. Although I read the side effects of nausea, diarrhea, and stomach pain, I had no idea that this one pill would make me so violently ill. I had severe stomach pain that was so bad I was unable to sleep and do normal routines. If I had any idea that this one pill would cause so much pain, I would not have taken it. I am very angry with my OB for prescribing it and not telling me the severe side effects when there are other cream medications on the market. The severe side effect outweighs any benefit of the pill in curing a yeast infection. I am still sick from this pill and have no intention of taking another pill, clearly it was prescribed because of the low cost."

Fluconazole for Vaginal Yeast Infection "I took Diflucan years ago for a yeast infection—got rid of it quickly and efficiently with no side effects! Fast forward to this year. I had a major yeast infection, took Diflucan but this time had multiple weird side effects, including: peeling/swollen lips (with ulcers on the inside), nausea/vomiting, terrible stomach pains and diarrhea, heart palpitations, itchy throat, and increased vaginal and anal irritation. I even developed hemorrhoids for the first time in my life, and I attribute it all to this drug. I think it severely irritated my mucous membranes and then this was only worsened by coupled chronic diarrhea I was having. Be really careful taking this drug... it’s no joke."
