For Atrial Fibrillation "Coming up on 1 year of Tambocor Metoprolol for treatment of atrial fibrillation. It works very well, no attacks at all since starting Tambocor, hence, my life is better in that respect. However, there is a trade-off, my energy level is lower, and I feel exactly the same when I get up at 7:30 in the morning, whether I go to bed at 9:00 PM or stay up until after midnight. I am chronically tired. Also, I notice strange things with my peripheral vision occasionally since on the Tambocor. That's not to scare anyone off, I can still function normally, from yard work, to splitting wood, to playing golf, on the outside, I doubt anyone who knows me has a clue that I am on medication. It is a 'feeling' to me. I can tell I am a little 'off,' but it's worth it."

For Atrial Fibrillation "First AFib episode started early one morning when I was 30. By age 35, I was on Tambocor. I’m 57 now, been on Tambocor for the past 22 years, and this drug has allowed me to live a normal life free of AFib. I’ve got a lot of empathy for those newly diagnosed with AFib because of all the fear it generates, but the meds generally work once you find the right one. I’ve had no side effects at all from Tambocor in the 22 years that I’ve been on it. Now, I realize that I’m not the typical example patient for AFib because of my age. I do remember feeling out of place sitting in my cardiologist’s waiting room in my 30s and 40s. However, with those experiences available to me, it’s possible that some of the side effects that others have reported here may be age-related concurrent heart-related issues and not directly attributable to Tambocor. Tried to say that in the nicest way possible based upon my experiences. Hope that helps."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "I have been on Tambocor for 7 years now, and in the past 2 years, I have been having dizzy spells, almost blackout, panic attacks for no reason, breathing problems out of the blue, eyes are blurring up more and more each year, no energy, weak muscles, and not for lack of trying, I just can't get them to tone up, so I consider myself weak. My tummy gets upset, ringing in the ears, and the most annoying, other than the dizziness, is the low blood pressure, it just drops so many times! These are all symptoms for this drug. I was in denial for a long time, as these side effects were minimal and just became worse. I'm not on any other drug. I'll have to go off it, but what's next??"

For Atrial Fibrillation "Initially, it worked with minimal side effects. But after one year, I have virtually all known side effects for this medicine, including severe fatigue and shortness of breath - or inability to get a full breath. I attributed these to mold in our soil due to construction and did not look at side effects until my EP's total lack of concern made me wonder if he was hiding something. I am shocked by what I now read and have no idea what to do - obviously, reporting to my EP is not the answer. My GP says she knows nothing about cardiology."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Been taking 50mg Tambocor for 10 years and it was a lifesaver. The previous med did nothing, I was in the hospital every 6 weeks until a new cardiologist prescribed Tambocor, and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, I ended up in the ER with my heart racing, and the cardiologist is switching me, but I would prefer a higher dose of Tambocor. I am on the lowest dose. Having controlled AFIB for 10 years is a blessing, I was miserable before... It worked so well that I didn't even think it was AFIB causing my weakness, etc., until I found out my heart was beating at 160 bpm. I can't blame the flecainide, it's worked wonders, and I really, really don't want to change meds. I'm going to call my cardiologist to discuss, the hospital cardiologist has given me Amiodarone, and I'm now back to a normal rhythm, but I'm so worried it won't work. AFIB sucks when trying to find a med that works at the right dose. Best of luck to all of my fellow AFIBers."

For Atrial Fibrillation "My bro was diagnosed with AFib not long ago, and the doc prescribed Concor once a day and Tambocor 50 mg twice a day. It worked well the first 3 days, and he had a slow heart rate, fluttering, shortness of breath, and shakiness all together on the 4th day. It seemed like it was getting worse after taking this drug, it's just not for him, and the doc agreed to take him off now. Trying new meds next week, and I hope that one will work well for him. Having shortness of breath and feeling weak is really terrifying."

For Atrial Flutter "Kept me in regular sinus rhythm, but after three years on the med, I failed a stress test due to QRS widening, a potentially fatal heart rhythm irregularity. Doctor states it was caused by the medication."

For Atrial Fibrillation "Severe reaction with loss of muscle strength and general mobility, neck, back, jaw pain. Inability to turn head. Lower abdominal pain. I have been off the med for 4 weeks, but side effects have only minimally abated. Would like to find a support group."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I’ve been on flecainide for about a year and a half. For 30 years, I tried all manner of other medications, including Toprol XL and other beta blockers, in an attempt to control my pre-ventricular contractions and pre-atrium contractions. The other medications did little to control the arrhythmias, and the doctor put me on flecainide once my arrhythmias started to be trigeminy. Within a day of taking flecainide, I experienced no irregular heartbeats. Flecainide has controlled my arrhythmias very well over the last year and a half, and there are often times when I go days without any skips. I continue to take meta-Toprol along with the flecainide. The only side effect I’ve experienced is slight fatigue."

For Ventricular Tachycardia "Started taking flecainide one week ago. I have experienced headaches, swelling of face, feeling as if I could not think, and legs swelling. I tried cutting the dose in half and still same results. This med is not for me."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "We used Tambocor for our infant daughter for 18 months (from 1 month old till 19 months old). The doctors tried different meds, but only Tambocor really got her SVT attack-free. So we are thankful that we had this medicine. Side effects were not noticed, but an infant can't really say she's dizzy."

For Atrial Fibrillation "I used it for 6 years. After 3 years, I started having peripheral vision problems of tiny white moving spots. I assumed it was an eye problem, but my ophthalmologists didn't see a reason. It is a side effect of this medicine."
