For Migraine Prevention "Like beta blockers but worse side effects and better results. Three months at 140 mg; quit due to chest pressure, fatigue, cold hands and feet points to circulatory impact, heart rate rose and out of breath after mild exertion, constipation and mild brain fog. Contraindicated for COPD, cardiovascular, liver disease, and pregnant/nursing-same concerns noted by FDA. My migraine duration down 30% and intensity 50% but frequency same. Going back to Botox. Don't give up: PACAP (pron. paycap) PAC1 antibodies in Phase 2 human trials look good-see AMG301 and ALD1910 on PubMed. Also, Ajovy and Emgality, different action than Aimovig. Did Ajovy and worked better, less side effects, no constipation, but quit due to major brain fog (akin to beta blockers-I'm hypersensitive to B/P meds). Word is Medicare to approve Aimovig by May and covered for me now. Aimovig users, note link between constipation and colorectal cancer. Add olive oil to diet."

For Migraine Prevention "I was started on the 140 mg injection. No side effects other than severe constipation for the first two weeks. Week three, a huge range of side effects kicked in. Gripping around the back of my neck/base of my skull, causing stiffness and popping/creaking when I turned my head. Extreme fatigue and breathlessness. Dizziness when standing up. Serious tremor in my hands and shakiness in my legs when standing. My vision was adversely affected. Abdominal pain and a bloated feeling. Panic attacks. Pain across lower back around my kidneys. I started to retain water and put on weight due to this. Pronounced whine in my ears. Inability to focus/concentrate. The injection made no difference to my headache, and I have refused to take the second injection as a result of the side effects of the first one."

For Migraine Prevention "My neurologist recommended Aimovig for my vestibular migraines. Within 48 hours of taking my first injection, the nightmare side effects began. My anxiety became much worse, and I started having severe panic attacks. I had shortness of breath, dizziness, hallucinations, a feeling of impending doom, and feeling like I was going to die. I now have insomnia, which I never had before taking Aimovig. After 3 days on Aimovig, I had severe constipation, cramping, and indigestion. I wish I had never tried Aimovig. It is now 2 months after my first (and only) injection, and I’m still struggling with severe anxiety and had a recent visit to the ER for chest pains, shortness of breath, extremely high blood pressure, and heart rate. I can’t wait to have this drug completely out of my system so I can get my life back."

For Migraine Prevention "It helped with my headaches after the severe TBI. From having 20 migraine days a month, it decreased to 5 days a month. But side effects are horrible. I can't breathe, a shortness of breath, constipation, hair loss, fatigue, weight gain, acne, and joint pain. I prefer headaches rather than having all these side effects."

For Migraine Prevention "I had my first injection of 70 mg on 8/16/18. The medicine hurt really bad going in. First day, it's like a lot of migraine pain went away. Keep in mind I have 2-3 migraines a day. Same night, my throat started hurting, hard to swallow, started wheezing. 2nd day begun when I woke up feeling really bad. Migraine, sore throat, wheezing, coughing, walking into walls, out of it, and extremely tired. Went to GP, was diagnosed with upper respiratory infection. I really hope this stuff gets out of my system. I don't want another dose, the first was enough for me. Migraine is worse than my other ones. I hope it works for everyone else. Me, I feel like I've been run over by a bus or flu-like symptoms. Of course, it could be reacting to all my other diagnoses I don't know."

For Migraine Prevention "I have suffered migraines from age of 10 years. I have tried everything from antihypertensives, antidepressants, Botox, Topamax, and now all three monoclonal antibody therapies, the last of which is Aimovig. I can concur with all the symptoms posted on this site: head fog, dizziness, shortness of breath, palpitations, anxiety, restlessness, especially at night, and sharp, stabbing pain in my head and neck. Triptan is less effective and has no change in daily migraines. As a chronic migraine sufferer, I don't know what options I have, but this is not one of them and I will report side effects as I have done for other similar treatments."

For Migraine Prevention "I received my first dose of Aimovig in 2020. (three doses of 70 mg). I immediately developed constipation, itching, muscle aches, shortness of breath, bloating, and many other problems I had never had before. My migraine remained unchanged, up to 5 times per week. For the first three months, I tried to speed up digestion with laxatives. After at least three months, the laxatives no longer worked. I stopped eating and landed in the emergency department of the hospital. I was in the hospital for nine days. Investigations in almost all organs showed a slight deviation from normal. After colonoscopy, it was found to be a functional bowel defect. They discharged me with a diagnosis but no therapy because they didn’t know how to treat it. Since I was taking the dose for three months, I consoled myself that one day the drug would be eliminated from the body, it didn’t. I still have a malfunctioning bowel, in short, I am seriously ill with the same migraines."

For Migraine Prevention "Started Aimovig 140 six months ago. 1st injection, I got swelling on the left side of my face and neck, and shortness of breath. 2nd jab was better, no swelling, but really bad muscle cramps and twitches all over my body. Head never really gave me a break, ranging from mild to severe, never going away. Still taking Aimovig today, still suffering heart palpitations, really bad muscle cramps, fatigue, and nausea. Going to speak to neuro on next appointment. Good luck, everyone."
