Dehydroepiandrosterone "It was okay as a medicine, but not better than Vagifem. The packaging was awful - a struggle to get the foil peeled down enough to use. I did not like having to use it nightly. The carrier substance (something oil-based, I think) soaked into my underwear and wouldn't wash out, leaving the fabric stiff. I didn't see any benefits over the twice-weekly small tablet (Vagifem)."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I used this for about 4 months and, even though my doc said this wouldn’t have any side effects, I believe it triggered moderate hair loss. I discontinued 6 months ago and am still trying to treat my hair loss."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "Prices of these products are just insane! Estring worked wonders, but at $400, it was just too expensive. Tried this product, and this one is also crazy at $100! Ask your provider for coupons, they have them, but you have to ask. I went back to my pharmacy and got a $65 refund."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I am 67 and used Intrarosa for 3 months for low sex drive and vaginal atrophy, and it changed my life. I have been lucky with no side effects, my vagina felt it was 30 years old, and my energy and sex drive came back. Unfortunately, in the UK, there is a shortage, and I have been waiting 6 weeks for it so far and had to move to Imvaggis, which just doesn't have the same effect."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "It's only my 3rd week using Intrarosa. I have not slept more than a couple of hours each night since. It's also caused me to feel hot flashes I never had before its use. At this time, I will stop for a month and hope sleep returns and try again in the future."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "Upon waking after the 2nd night's use, I found I had significant fatty residue on my underwear, which had leaked to the insides of my thighs and on my sheets. The fatty base in which the product is suspended melts and then leaks out of the vagina. I'm theorizing that the experience would be similar to going to bed with a tablespoon of Crisco inserted in the vagina. I stopped use at this point, so cannot speak to the efficacy of the drug itself."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I suffer from dyspareunia and was recommended Intrarosa. Unfortunately, I felt cramping and pulling and just overall discomfort, which worsened. By the 7th day, I stopped using this, as my body seems opposed to it."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I've tried many medications over the years for my vaginal pain (happens after I pee). Gabapentin, Elmiron, Amitriptyline, Lyrica, various creams and muscle relaxants 3 times a day (this actually did help for a while). I don't even think my urogynecologist knows why this has been happening. Something to do with my pelvic floor muscles having 'spasms' and urinating sets it off. I had to discontinue them either because they didn't help or they had nasty side effects. Intrarosa was a miracle for me. Pain was gone after 1 week - I was SO happy, until my hair started falling out. I didn't make the connection at first. Then I searched the reviews and severe hair loss caused many to stop taking this. So I had a good cry and I stopped taking it. Currently trying Carson's Vitamin E suppositories. They do help somewhat. Have a phone appointment in a couple of weeks with my specialist. Either I have to find something to help with the hair loss or I'll try something else - possibly Ospemifene."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "Terribly expensive, even with my insurance. I have not used it consistently due to several factors. The packaging is a real struggle to open - mood dampener. I keep my nails short (live on a farm) and end up trying 2 or 3 different inserts before I get one opened. Tabs are too short, and on the wrong end of the insert! The excess of oil that leaks out once I am upright is a mess! All over my vulvar area and inner thighs, in the sheets, on my partner. I prefer to sleep naked, and the next morning it is draining into my underwear. No color, as some have complained of, but hard to wash out. Why not use a smaller insert with the same amount of meds in it? Also, a huge amount of plastic waste is unnecessary. We are all capable of washing and reusing the insert tube. I am looking for a more user-friendly, less expensive, more ecological product without the crazy side effects that many have experienced."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I was prescribed Intrarosa after trying HRT gel, Ovestin, and Vagifem - none of which did any good. Intrarosa really suited me, and I liked the oiliness as it helped with dryness. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, there is a shortage and it is no longer available at the moment. The nurse has prescribed Ovestin/Estriol cream, which is not good for me."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "First of all, the packaging is almost impossible to open. Secondly, the price is extremely high. Lastly, and most importantly, I used it the full 12 weeks that were recommended without any relief. It did not work for me whatsoever."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "Having history of sarcoma and with family history of cervical cancer, I would not play with hormone therapy and had to let nature take its course. Started using Intrarosa the year I noticed a little dryness during intercourse. My OB-GYN recommended Intravexx or Intrarosa. I adapted better to Intrarosa, using it at first every 3-4 days. In my second year of full menopause, I use it every day and sometimes every other day - plenty of happy sex and no pain. Cons: The packaging sucks! The suppositories come in hard plastic that is terrible to open and the box is not efficient. But it works! I've never slept with underwear and if I'm wearing black nightgowns, it stains the sheets - wear light colors or underwear when using Intrarosa. Sometimes we use lube for sex - they do not interfere with the Intrarosa use."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I tried Intrarosa (6.5 mg) for 4 and 1/2 months because I have vaginal dryness that causes painful intercourse. After trying it every night for the 4 and a half months, I found out it does not work at all! Do not buy this product! Complete waste of money! On top of that, it is messy at night, it gets all over me and the bedsheets! It is a stupid and very expensive product! Amag Pharmaceuticals, go back to the drawing board and make a better product! My Carlson Vitamin E suppositories work just as well and only cost $15 for a month's supply. Whereas at Walgreens, this greedy drug company wants $84 for a month's supply and it does not work and is messy! I am reporting this bad drug to the FDA (not that this do-nothing agency will do anything). Terribly disappointed consumer!"

"I find this medication, dehydroepiandrosterone, helpful with incontinence, vaginal atrophy, painful intercourse, and the list goes on. What I read a lot here is about the oily-like staining and how difficult it is to get out of your clothes. For that, I would look at what kind of laundry detergent you are using. I know that Persil ProClean is not the cheapest laundry detergent, but it works for all of our laundry needs and does an excellent job at not leaving any stains from the use of this prescription drug. I would suggest you try it because that seems to be the most predominant complaint here. Hope that helps."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I am perimenopausal and my primary struggle is with nocturia (for many years) or bladder urgency/frequency at night - it is miserable. Lesser struggles are insomnia and hot flashes. My doctor gave me a sample of this a few days ago, so I'm only 3 days in - too early to see if it will help, so I will update this later. So far, no side effects or improvement. I'm curious if anyone here has dealt with nocturia and found anything that helped (I've been fully evaluated by an internist, urologist, and gynecologist)."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "I’ve been using Intrarosa for quite some time. For the same reasons the other readers commented, like burning during sexual intercourse! The product works great, however, I swear every time I have to unwrap the suppository, I curse at how bad the packaging is. I actually use a pair of long-tip pliers to help me peel the plastic wrapper. I would seriously like to have the marketing and production team each try to unwrap a suppository and get their feedback on how they would make this product easier to unwrap! I can’t imagine someone with arthritis in their fingers or cream on their hands prior to peeling the wrapper… impossible! As for the applicator, I would suggest less in a package, six is too much. I would suggest a product packaging revision, a total must, so I would rate the packaging a 1/10."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "Started using alongside Estrogel, Prometrium, and Androfemme for urinary frequency and urgency, vaginal atrophy, and bowel health. Found Intrarosa to be the missing link for my insomnia, which has been severe and affecting my quality of life. It also improved my urinary issues. Sadly, I’m experiencing a sore mouth while using. I’m devastated as it’s been a huge benefit sleep-wise, which is life-changing. I may see if the symptoms decrease or try using a half dose like a previous review mentioned."

Dehydroepiandrosterone "Only took it for a few weeks. Can't say if it really works. Half of the product is lost in the first 30 minutes, no matter how far I try to insert it. Somebody here suggested to cut it in half, might be a good solution. Horrible smell, unfortunately. Also, it says to throw away the applicator after use, but there are only 4 items in the box! Not sure I'm gonna continue. Especially after reading the negative comments."
