Clopidogrel for Transient Ischemic Attack "After my VAD stroke, I am on Plavix. I have a toddler that I still nurse. I looked up Plavix for several days and talked to several doctors. Some said it was fine, some said it was not okay. After talking to so many people about it, I felt that it seemed okay to nurse on. I've been on it for a month, and yesterday I realized that my 2-year-old is constipated. We are weaning ASAP now because I don't know what else it's doing to him, but it's definitely getting through. I just wanted to post this somewhere for other nursing moms to see. We are currently only nursing two times a day right now."

Clopidogrel for Heart Attack "I was put on Plavix after a heart attack and had no bad side effects at all. However, I did have 2 more heart attacks while taking Plavix and am now on warfarin. My doctor took part in a drug genetic test, which showed Plavix has zero effect on me, and sadly there are others that this drug just doesn't work for, so get tested and make sure it is safe for you. If Plavix works for you, it's a safe drug."

For Transient Ischemic Attack "I've had 3 TIAs and then 100% occlusion in the left vertebral artery. I was hospitalized for 6 days. After which I found out that I have Factor V Leiden which is a blood clotting factor. I am also on Clopidogrel for Coronary Artery Disease. So far everything has been going well, I had my occlusion in 2013."

For Percutaneous Coronary Intervention "I have been taking the generic for Plavix. I was taking the pill APO CL75 manufactured by Apotex without any problem. My druggist on my last prescription filled my generic for Plavix with the pill R 196 manufactured by Dr. Reddy's Laboratory. After the switch, I have experienced ankle swelling. I do not know but highly suspect that this last pill is causing the swelling and wonder if this pill is the same. Interesting!"

For Ischemic Stroke, Prophylaxis "Mild TIA 6 yrs. ago. Was already on one 81 mg aspirin a day when it happened. They put me on Crestor to literally crush the LDL cholesterol and a horrendous drug that I could not tolerate called Aggrenox...(a beefed-up version of aspirin with a vasodilator). I had to stop when the daily headaches and ringing in the ears became unbearable. They switched me to my usual aspirin and 75 mg of Plavix daily. Thank God 6 years later and no more episodes. I feel nothing from the Plavix and bruise very little from the Plavix. So it makes me wonder at times if it's working at all??? Apparently, there are some people who lack an enzyme to process it, and there are tests for this. Has anyone received such a test??? And if so, did your insurance cover it?"

Clopidogrel for Heart Attack "Heart attack 2010. Stent in right coronary artery (RCA). Was on brand name Plavix for 6 years, 75 mg. Switched to generic 2 years ago. I have noticed bruises, and my ALT (liver enzyme) has gone up. The first time ever. I am a phlebotomist. Trying to find coupon for brand name coupon."

Clopidogrel for Heart Attack "I had a heart attack in June 2017, angioplasty with one stent also, have been on much medication including Plavix since. Why was Plavix recently discontinued 'cold turkey'? I am feeling okay, but very dizzy, but I am a very old person."

Clopidogrel for Ischemic Stroke "For nursing moms looking for answers and reviews on breastfeeding and being on Plavix (clopidogrel), I was told this drug has never been tested for nursing moms, and they recommended I quit nursing. Another doctor thought I should be okay, so I have nursed for 6 months on this medicine, had my baby’s blood drawn twice, and the baby is completely fine!"

Clopidogrel for Heart Attack "I had stents and triple bypass in 2019, have taken Plavix and low dose Aspirin since then. No issues on Plavix except for easily bruising. I am switching to Vazalore 81mg to see if this works better for inflamed stomach caused by these two meds. Cannot take PPI as it depletes bone mass over time. I just turned 70 and am happy to say Plavix has worked so far."

For Transient Ischemic Attack "I've been taking this medicine for a little over 6 months. I am a 66-year-old female. In 2014, I lost 30 pounds on purpose, so I have been feeling good, except for age-related pain in my hip joints. I've just realized recently that I'm no longer feeling pain in my joints. Nothing has changed in my life except the addition of this medicine. So, I've concluded this is a positive side effect from taking this medicine."

For Platelet Aggregation Inhibition "Use of Plavix following a partial occlusion of a branch artery in the left retina. Other than having to be careful not to scrape or cut myself in the garden, my main side effect is occasional bleeding in the white of my right eye. I had glaucoma surgery in my right eye. I have asked my internist if it would be okay to discontinue the use of Plavix, and the answer was no. Not based on my history of a clot in my left eye, which I was told could have caused a stroke. My doctor says that Plavix has the least side effects of the available blood thinner medications."

For Heart Attack "I was taking this medication from Nov. 2021 until Feb. 22, 2022, when the doctor stopped it. I developed problems with my fingers turning blue and white during extreme cold weather. 30 years ago, my hands became frozen during backcountry skiing. This didn't bother me until taking clopidogrel, which I just discovered was most likely the cause by checking online. My fingernails became brittle recently. 75 mg once a day in pill form. It was given as a blood thinner. I don't know if it worked, but I take another blood thinner and assume one of them worked, I don't know."

For Platelet Aggregation Inhibition "This drug is my lifesaver, but I am having problems getting my prescription. The problem is that I cannot have any dyes or colored coating on this tablet. The clopidogrel tablet has to be a white 75 mg tablet, which seems difficult to get. The coating on the tablet causes kidney difficulties for me. All my oral medications have to be white."

For Ischemic Stroke "Three ischemic strokes in July 2002. Had carotid endarterectomy and graft of the inner left carotid. Taking Plavix (clopidogrel) since August 2002. The first 6 months I had bruising... a lot. Some chest tightness for a week or so. Had a stress test which showed long-suspected heart abnormalities. Now, Jan. 2018."

For Peripheral Arterial Disease "I was put on Clopidogrel after a stent was put in my heart. I was also diagnosed with PAD. I walk every day and have been short of breath for the last month. I'm not sure if the Clopidogrel is responsible for the shortness of breath since I have been taking it for 8 months. I also get heartburn quite often. I will continue taking this medication to help keep my veins open. I get black and blue occasionally but it is nothing severe."

For Ischemic Stroke "It's kind of hard to tell if it's doing its job, but all I can say is that 75 milligrams doesn't give me any side effects, no bleeding or any kind. When I arrived at the emergency for my stroke, they gave me 5 of this, plus another one that I don't know about. I almost reverted back to normal, but the day after I had those effects of a mild stroke. Problems with right arm and leg. Aspirin gives me ringing in the ears, this is why I was prescribed this drug instead."

For Platelet Aggregation Inhibition "In the space of 2 weeks of taking this instead of aspirin, I noticed that I had an unexpected benefit: I lost 2 pounds in body weight from fluid retention. So far, I find this medication to be a much better blood thinner than aspirin."

For Percutaneous Coronary Intervention "Had rash, then, as months went on, felt like something crawling on my skin, then low blood sugar. Doctors assured me that this medication could not do any of this and wanted me to see several specialists at a huge cost to me. Bottom line, after being on this medication for 7 months, I stopped it and everything cleared up, so I started it again. Much better now, if the rash comes back, I will stop again. Am afraid to completely stop."
