Chlordiazepoxide "Recently went through another huge bender and decided enough was enough and I needed to quit drinking for good. I had cold turkey'd twice in the past with some rough times, but nothing big, so I figured, why not taper? I messed up, and it just led to bad WDs. Shaking, sweating, anxiety, racing heart, spasms while trying to sleep that kept me up for days. I finally hit my breaking point and went into a hospital and got help. I was scared as well about how bad I was. Both other times I quit were never like this. I was, of course, put on a drip, but I walked out with a bottle of these and instructions on the day-by-day dosage. So far, it's only been a few days, but all of those nightmare WD symptoms went poof. I now am committed to never drinking again, am finding a support group, and I can say this drug will absolutely assist you during bad WDs."

"I had a drink problem since I was about 21, and now I'm 40. I was taken to the hospital about 5 or 6 times due to alcohol withdrawal, and I thought enough is enough, so my doctor gave me chlordiazepoxide 10 mg to be taken 4 times a day for 7 days, and man, it does save me. I recommend NOT to stop drinking completely because withdrawals might kill you. I've been through one big nightmare with withdrawal, saw things that weren't there, and just pure hell! Just don't do cold turkey, it is dangerous! Go and see your doctor, and the doctor probably will give you chlordiazepoxide... it will save your life. Good luck!"

"I stopped drinking cold turkey 3 days ago on the 16th of April 2019. The 17th was the worst, and I headed to the ER before my withdrawal got worse. They gave me a detox banana bag IV and prescribed me Librium. The next day, I started my dosage: 25 mg 4 times a day for 4 days, 3 times a day for 4 days, 2 times a day for 4 days, then once daily for 4 days. 16 days total. Since I started yesterday, I haven't had any side effects from withdrawals. Don't know if it will hit me hard in the next few days, but so far, so good. 5 years of drinking. The first 3 years were a liter of tequila a day, the last 2 years were 6-8 24 oz with 8% alcohol. Very functioning alcoholic working at a hospital. Drank on the job too. I'm glad I'm getting this done. Finally."

"You do not have to live with the effects of alcohol withdrawal. The first step is admitting that you have a problem. Instead of getting help, I would get drunk so the symptoms would go away, but would wake up very early with the symptoms right back and have to do it all over again. I highly recommend chlordiazepoxide, it truly has changed my life. I no longer want to drink, no withdrawals, have energy, and just have a positive outlook in life. Alcoholism will never leave you, so anyone reading this feeling like there is no hope, please get help. This benzodiazepine really does work, and it will change your life."

Chlordiazepoxide "I only drank for 6 months, but in that time, I ended up in the ER 3 times with alcohol poisoning. This last time, they sent me home with Librium for the shakes, and while it definitely has been a lifesaver, I'm so groggy that I can't drive right now, and after putting away the laundry, I collapse in my chair like I've just run a marathon. Hopefully, this will go away soon. I wish I'd known how bad the withdrawal would be, even after only a short time: I've never been suicidal, but I honestly would have rather died than go through the DTs (thank God the ER doc shot me full of Ativan, which knocked me out for the worst of it)."

"34 yrs old, been drinking vodka every day the last 3-4 years. I would get blackout drunk every night. Used to just drink after work, but I started feeling like crap, so I started drinking at work all day long just to feel normal. Drank last night, woke up this morning, and I felt horrible. Went to the ER, on my way there, I stopped and got a pint, drank half of it. Went into the ER. They hooked me up to an IV, gave Valium and a vitamin drip, did blood work, and gave me chlordiazepoxide. I instantly felt better. Got a 5-day prescription: 25 mg, 4 times a day, so far, so good! But it's only day 1. I'm afraid to sleep tonight, but I want to stop drinking 100%, so hope this does it. Good luck, everyone."

"I've been drinking heavily for 11 years now. Lost many jobs because of my addiction. I've been a bartender for over 7 years. I've never once said I need help and could do it on my own. I know now I can't and need help. I've drank every single day for the past month, over a fifth or more than 10 drinks (if at a bar/restaurant). I definitely needed this medication. It's my second day and the shakes have worn off. The first day was difficult. I will say it definitely helped take the shakes away, cravings, and anxiety. I have a long road ahead of me, but I have faith, feel better, and am optimistic about a sober future! These pills are saving my life! Highly recommend. Good luck to you all that have read this and are struggling with alcoholism!"

"Would go months without a drink. Then bam! Relapse. Lost all feeling in legs and hands, paramedics had to dress me. Vodka and rosé was my staple when binging. Librium and so-called alcoholic 'banana bags' (and IV fluid given at the hospital containing a combination of 100 mg of thiamine, 1 mg of folic acid, 1-2 g of magnesium, and a multivitamin formulation in either normal saline or dextrose in water solution) are a lifesaver. Got another chance."

Chlordiazepoxide "Was a heavy drinker, there were some days I'd cut my hangover with another 6 or 12-pack of beer. Started feeling anxiety, numbness in my hands and face, felt confused as well. Didn't feel good whatsoever. They gave me both Ativan and Librium, 30 minutes later, all the anxiety went away. Now I know some of you guys don't like medication, but in this case, it's a literal lifesaver. Just got prescribed Librium after the hospital, and it saved my life from a dark path of detox. If you or a group is trying to quit, please don't quit alone, please seek medical attention to help you through the terrible journey. They can help make you feel better."

Chlordiazepoxide "As a longtime binge drinker who would drink alone, my poison of choice was a large bottle of Jim Beam with the handle. When I ran out of Jim Beam, I actually drank a bottle of mouthwash. The great doctor gave me some Ativan and sent me home with Librium. That's for the more detailed info on tapering down. Thanks all!"

"My GP saved my life by (a) getting me to admit to alcohol problems (three bottles of wine daily, seven days a week); (b) sending me for a biopsy for potential cirrhosis (clear), but being in the hospital ward for two days showed me the effects of alcohol abuse and realizing I wanted my life back. This was the first two days in over twenty years of not drinking alcohol. (c) The real lifesaver, chlordiazepoxide, prescribed to me. Now alcohol-free for over three years, got my life back, no more dry vomits each day, all day, no more obvious signs externally; the sweating or panics. Do not ignore the medical offer of this drug if prescribed to you; it could save YOUR life as it has mine. Aged 53 - male."

Chlordiazepoxide "I recently drew the line with my drinking. Began on my 24th birthday, and here I am at 41. Almost two decades. Last night I ended up in the ER, and for once in my life - they treated me with compassion. Ativan upon arriving, with Zofran for nausea. I was so dehydrated, they could not start an IV. After a few hours, I was released and then to my sudden surprise, I was sent home with 2 scripts. Zofran and Librium (25 mg). About an hour after taking 2 Librium, I felt a calm come over me. I even felt hungry and started doing my dishes. I drink/drank to deal with my severe anxiety & panic, and drinking only serves to double my anxiety when it wears off. I am so grateful to the ER doctor. I've been to hospitals countless times, and shockingly, never left with a script - just paperwork for rehabs I cannot afford. I give this medicine a 10/10. No side effects to speak of. Highly recommend."

"Half a bottle of vodka or a bottle of wine a day for 20 years. Got worse when my husband died and ended up cutting my wrists on a binge. Started having fits/seizures about 8 weeks ago, so decided to give up cold turkey. Biggest mistake ever as I couldn't understand why I kept having seizures. Started Librium as an inpatient along with IV thiamine. Got awful hallucinations to begin with, but after that I can truthfully say I haven't felt this good physically and mentally for years. I self-referred, and the hospital was amazing. Please, please, if you think you have a dependency, then this medicine is the way to go. I truly believe it's not only saved my sanity but also potentially my life."

Chlordiazepoxide "I have struggled with alcohol since I was 16, drinking daily for years. Sometimes up to a fifth a day. Drinking alone most of the time recently. I'm 44. I got sick of it. Told my doctor I was ready to stop. He prescribed me this drug. It has saved my life. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling."

"Just starting on Librium this afternoon, and I'm amazed they are actually working! Don't do detox on your own, it's very dangerous, believe me.... If you want to stop drinking, then go to your GP, and he/she will prescribe you Librium, and you will be amazed as well. It's a brilliant, life-saving drug. :-)"

"Saved my life. Was minutes from committing suicide. It allowed me to come off the drug alcohol and be sane. My children will be better for it for me. Cold sweats, shakes, insomnia. Suicidal thoughts. Or Librium. And family support."

"Binge drinking had become a serious problem. I would go for days without drinking or even the desire to have one. Then, I would meet up with drinking buddies one day, and that was it. I went to a psychiatrist who prescribed Disulfiram in the morning and this drug in the evening. Changed my life, been sober for 8 months now."

"Our family doctor prescribed this for my husband. He had tried to detox before with Klonopin, and that just made him out of it... almost as if he was still drinking... couldn't drive, work, help with the kids, etc. He tried going cold turkey, and that made him run back to the drink when the shakes and pain came back, but with Librium, he was able to still function and go to work. He is now taking this along with Campral. If you can afford it, the two work well together. (I think it is unfortunate that many doctors are not familiar with Campral, and it is very expensive without insurance). Great for 'at home' detox when you can't go to the hospital."

"I guess I hit rock bottom when I had to go to the ER because I was having a seizure. I completely blacked out and do not remember a thing. Not a black out like too much to drink, this was different. Once I came to fruition, I was in an ambulance and I could hardly use my body because my seizure lasted 3-4 minutes, according to my husband. Long story and many tests and an overnight stay later, they convinced me I was going through severe alcohol withdrawals. I have been on this drug now for 3 days and have not had a drink since. Cravings, somewhat, but I feel they are well on their way out. The withdrawal symptoms are not worth it. This works very quickly and is super affordable. Game on sobriety!"

Chlordiazepoxide "I was in the ER for alcohol poisoning. Level of 400. I was given 25 milligrams of Librium. 1 to 2 pills every 6 hours. I was still very sick with shakes and major sweats even after 3 days. Don't understand how these people say that the withdrawal was gone. Even on the med, I laid in bed for 4 days sick as a dog. It has kept me from having seizures, but I've suffered horribly."

"I have had a few medical detoxes from heavy alcohol use. The first one was from drinking a liter of vodka a day, subsequent ones were what it leveled out to: 700 ml daily if I relapse. Librium is the safest and least uncomfortable way to get off alcohol. Coming off by tapering with alcohol is very hard and painful, I know. If you want to come off completely, see your GP. I preferred to do it outpatient rather than inpatient, but grab either one, trust me. No. 1, you can immediately stop having to drink alcohol and medically detox. If outpatient, they will give you B vitamins, thiamine, and likely an antiemetic. Drink tons of non-caffeinated drinks with electrolytes in them and water. I'm talking about 2 glasses of water every hour. If in the hospital, they will ask you what you've been drinking, how much, and for how long to sort the right dose. Be honest. 1st time had to have max dose: 40 mg every 4 hrs, over a week, they reduce it. Saved me."

Chlordiazepoxide "It's amazing. I have been on non-stop drinking for the last few years. Did try to stop many times but failed. I also got hooked on alprazolam...almost 2 mg per day. Mixed alcohol and alprazolam to get the high. Finally, my wife and brother-in-law took me to the medical facility. Initially, the doctor wanted me to have inpatient rehab, but he wrote a prescription for Librium for three days, provided I don't drink a drop of alcohol. It's day two, almost 48 hours, not a single drop of alcohol, and currently on Librium taper. Getting my energy back and able to do basic tasks at home. Withdrawal can kill."

"Went to the ER today because it's my second time in a week to get incredibly bad shakes. My heart rate went up so freaking high, and it really feels like you're gonna die. I called an ambulance and parked my car in some random parking lot. It was embarrassing, and I was disappointed in myself, but the doctor gave me 2 of the 25 mg Librium and gave me a prescription for 5 days. I'm still on day one, need 1 more pill and day 2 starts tomorrow. Go ask for help, you don't have to do it alone. I'm excited to be done with the pills and to have a sober life. I'm so happy I could cry. I feel sleepy, but I'll take that over death."

Chlordiazepoxide "My ER doctor started me on Librium for alcohol withdrawal. I have never been sicker after starting a med. Pain in both sides of my stomach, rapid heartbeat, anxiety, vivid dreams with little to no sleep. Flushed my prescription on day 2 and had to see my primary care doctor to get myself leveled out. Don't recommend this medication to ANYONE."

Chlordiazepoxide "I’ve been prescribed Librium for almost 10 years. I binge drink because of depression and anxiety. My binges last anywhere from 5 to 7 days. Sometimes I have to detox twice a month. Vodka is my poison. My detoxes have gotten worse, and Librium does get me through. I have to start at a pretty high dose. Plan your detox! Let your body rest. You’ve put it through hell. For me, the first two days are the worst. I’ll usually sleep for most of it and leave water and electrolyte replacements bedside. Librium gives me crazy dreams. However, it will keep you safe. My stomach usually is a mess after a binge. Always be careful if you’re detoxing at home. If you don’t feel right at ANY time, go to the ER, no matter how many times you’ve been there. I would absolutely not be alive without Librium. I really hope this is my last detox. The answer never lies at the bottom of a bottle. The only things that do are blackouts, personal problems, and downright pain. Good luck to you all."
