For Pain "I was diagnosed with Icepick headaches. My Doctor prescribed Stadol Nose Spray. My directions were to use it when I felt the headache begin then stop when the headache disappeared. I started getting the symptoms and used the nose spray. It made me feel worse. The only way to explain it was I felt high. The feeling was so awful, so I immediately threw the nose spray in the trash. I read the other reviews and I'm happy to see others getting relief from this medicine. I wish I was one. Now I was waken up with the stabbing pain on the right side of my head with nothing but a prayer to get me through this."

For Pain "Was very helpful. A dr prescribed stadol to me when I was 19. Before I realized it I was taking it even when I didn't really need and was quickly addicted. I've been addicted to opiates ever since. It's been a long rough road and I'm currently clean but this was so not worth the pain it helped. Dr.s should never prescribe this to anyone to take home and take whenever they want. In a controlled setting only."

For Labor Pain "My labor went so quickly that my baby was born only 30 minutes after I checked in to the hospital. I asked for a pain med. & they told me it was ‘too late’, so they gave me Stadol. It didn’t help at all with the pain, but it did make me very loopy. Very disappointing. It probably caused my baby’s issue with not latching on right away, since it was administered only 15 minutes before her birth."

For Labor Pain "This was given to me during labor, as my epidural failed. It made me CRAZY. I closed my eyes, and while I could hear people calling my name and slapping me on the cheeks...it was almost like I was out of my body...and I just didn't respond to them at all. I finally came around enough to deliver my son, but it still HURT. It didn't help the pain at all, just made me really high (and so annoyed). I don't remember holding my son for the first time AT ALL. Apparently I fell asleep, and when I woke up a few hour later, I was still all messed up. I asked my Mom who's baby he was! I also apparently told her I saw Jesus in the corner of the room, and that he was "really nice" (and I'm not religious). I now list Stadol as an allergy. Nevvvvvver, ever again. Ever,"

For Labor Pain "It was pleasant at first, very euphoric. But then I began to hallucinate. I was convinced it was 1994 and I was my own mother. But the contraction were still just as painful and because I was out of my mind I could not prepare for them or breathe through them or anything. It was a very bad experience."

For Labor Pain "I had an intolerance to this drug and it was horrible. And immediate! I became delusional and paranoid within a minute of it being put into my IV. I then became very sick and continued to vomit through my mouth and nose for 6 hours. My eyes kept rolling back in my head as if I was going to pass out- but with the constant vomiting I knew I could not fall asleep. I was given Stadol to alleviate pain caused by Pytocin (induced labor). I've no idea if it helped with that for it just gave me all new horrible symptoms(nausea, stomach and throat pain from constant vomiting, the worst delusions I've ever had)."

For Labor Pain "I was given IV Stadol along with Benadryl, followed by an intramuscular dose of stadol for labor pains. It did exactly what the doctors said it would- it takes the edge off but you’ll still feel your contractions and they’ll still hurt. I also feel that its effects wore off relatively quickly. It’s a good choice if you’re looking to avoid the epidural shot but if you’re looking for complete pain relief, stadol won’t provide that. When given through an IV, you’ll feel the effects of the drug almost instantly."

For Labor Pain "I was given stadol during induced labor, it was miraculous, however after 20 hrs, I was still not dilating. I was given an epidural and began hr long labor, stadol in conjunction with epidural, I finally was able to have child w/o surgical intervention. Was also given stadol post hysterectomy, via IM injections. Only drug that helped pain for both."

For Pain "I'm a retired L&D nurse. Stadol/phenergan and then stadol/benadryl IV was given routinely for labor pain. I began self medicating with stadol/phenergan to treat severe insomnia. I found myself unable to stop without experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. When I began abusing stadol in 1997 it was not stored with the narcotics nor was included in the daily narcotic count. I used for 4 years. I self reported to employee health and entered into treatment. Stadol, in my experience, has extreme abuse and addiction potential. I experienced extreme withdrawal symptoms for 5 days and then extreme cravings for years. I am clean today and have been drug free for over 18 years and was able to return to nursing (meeting all requirements of the State Licencing Board). I share this experience in the hopes of spreading more awareness, especially to healthcare professionals, on the potential abuse and addiction of stadol."

For Labor Pain "I was given stadol for labor pain management. While it helped me not to feel connected to the pain I didn’t like how it made me feel instantly. It forced me into a drowsy state. I couldn’t sleep and began having trouble breathing. Following my delivery I spent the first night crying because I couldn’t sleep And became paranoid and scared that I’d stop breathing in middle of night. Not only did I not sleep but the few times I dozed off it started off with a hallucination. It has been 5 days since I gave birth and I’m still having trouble sleeping at night. If any of you moms can give me some tips on what helped you ween this thing off out your system please do. Thank you."

For Labor Pain "I was given Stadol early on in labor and I felt like I could not open my eyes after it was given. This was very anxiety-provoking for me because I like to be in control. But I could not open my eyes. I had visions of fluorescent flowers, a school bus, and swirls of color. But the most scary thing was that I could not snap out of it. It eventually wore off, I am guessing after an hour or two, and then I was given an epidural. In the end I was given a C-section. Not at all how so wanted my birth experience to go. I felt like I had very little control throughout the birth, but especially when under the effects of Stadol."

For Labor Pain "Was given Stadol by the anesthesiologist. Was told it was for pain and distraction. When it kicked in I started to hallucinate. My mother was in the room with me holding my hand and I explained that I saw deer and the entire room looked like it was wrapped in shiny plaid wrapping paper. The anesthesiologist said it was normal to see things then explained the next steps and had me sign papers which I was not in any state to do such things. I’m glad that I didn’t freak out from the hallucinations but it did NOTHING for my pain. I felt every contraction with the addition of hallucinations."

For Labor Pain "I was given Stadol to help with contraction pains. It made me feel drunk, and I was super giggly and happy. I could still feel all the pain, physically, but my brain didn't care! I was having fun, laughing, conversations through intense contractions. It was timed perfectly somehow and I was given a second dose right before my epidural. I felt the needle go in, felt ALL the pain from the epidural, but my brain just couldn't care less! I didn't flinch at all and I talked casually to my husband through the whole thing. It was a fantastic experience for me, and as I'm going to a different hospital for my next delivery, I'm going to have to ask them for the same treatment!"

For Labor Pain "As soon as they pushed it into my IV I was immediately extremely dizzy and hallucinating. Can’t say it relieved my pain but I was so distracted by the hallucinations that the pain was not in the forefront of my mind. Hallucinated rainbow circles bouncing around the room and had the “spins” as if I were way too drunk. It wore off within 1-2 hours. Generally unhelpful for my labor pain but not a completely negative experience. Just not what I needed or was expecting."

For Labor Pain "Had this drug with my first childs delivery for labor pains and felt as if I was injected heroin! I couldn't breathe, like literally had to tell myself to breathe and had hallucinations like images were floating and had the image of being smeared along with a huge pumpkin"

For Labor Pain "I was given stadol for labor pains with my second child, I had had an epidural with my first but didn't want to be bedridden during labor so I wanted to try something else. This medication did not take away pain at all for me. It did, however, make me very high (which i was not expecting as it was not explained to me that there would be effects like this and i didn't know it was a narcotic). I would fall asleep, or half asleep in between contractions and then wake up in pain, scream, then go back out of it when the contraction ended. When it came to pushing, I was not really present in the moment, I stopped pushing when his head was halfway out and I bruised his precious little face (He was fine, but it was scary) I felt every part of birth and was in a weird state of mind that I didn't even look at my child when he came out because I was so out of it. :( I definitely don't recommend this, I would have rather had a completely natural birth."

For Labor Pain "Worked well for a long, induced labor that was not progressing. Since I was in labor for days, this medication helped with pain once I was exhausted during the last 24 hours. Helped me rest and relax to prepare for pushing hours later."

For Labor Pain "I was in Labor with my 2nd child. My nurse told me it was too late for an Epidural. I was given Stadol by the Hospital Nurse taking care of me. I was falling asleep between contractions while giving birth. The Nurse was holding my leg up, and yelling at me to push when I did not feel contractions, and didn't let me just push with my contractions. I tore inside, and tore outside from pushing my baby out while being yelled at and struggling to stay awake. This medication did not help my pain. My nurse used it to make me sleepy, so her job was easier. My child's Father shows sadness in his eyes talking about how pitiful I was during childbirth after being given Stadol. I've never had a good birth experience. Mother of 3. Maybe theres no such thing in the U.S.A?"

For Labor Pain "I was so upset during my second delivery when they gave me Stadol again after the horrible experience with this drug during my first delivery. Same EXACT issue: it did NOTHING for the pain it made me feel drunk and completely disoriented and yet I could feel EVERYTHING. When it wore off pain levels were no different except I didn’t feel completely out of control. During labor I couldn’t focus on my breathing, I couldn’t speak clearly - it was AWFUL. Second delivery I told the hospital NO Stadol, it was in my birth plan directive. No epidural no Stadol. My doc didn’t make it in time and I started feeling really woozy and room spinning. I asked my husband - tell me they didn’t give me Stadol! Sure enough. They had. Grrrrrrr! They said “just in case I wanted an epidural.” I so angry."
