Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "My doctor prescribed this medication for my type 1 rosacea redness. On day one, it worked really well, and I was red-free for 12 hours. I did notice a slight stinging sensation, but nothing too bad. By day two, the stinging had resolved itself, and I again had a red-free face. My doctor told me to use a very small amount, spread thinly, and this seems to work well. This medication has given me my life back!"

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I wish I had read about Mirvaso before I started it! The doctor prescribed it for my facial redness over my cheeks, but now, two weeks later, my cheeks, forehead, and chin are all bright red, with small pus-filled spots and feel like it's burning. I don't like going out as I'm embarrassed about how I look."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I had used Metrogel for years, but it didn't seem to be making a difference anymore, so I went to a derm, and he prescribed Mirvaso. I should have walked away when I saw the price! The first couple of days I used it, my face and along my hairline itched. Redness increased, and acne appeared. I stayed with it for two weeks; the flushing got worse, and my face burned, along with my ears and neck. Acne increased. But the worst effect was the headaches. I have migraines that I finally was able to manage with two prescriptions. The derm didn't tell me a side effect of Mirvaso. Did the FDA approve this?"

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "Takes away flushing for a few hours, but the next day my face feels on fire. It's the only medication on the market, so I only use this sparsely when required and suffer the next day. Can't wait till they discover a permanent cure."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "Like others, I used the product for a couple of days but stopped on day 3 after experiencing intense rebound symptoms. It seems to have burned my face. I don’t think they should be allowed to market this product to people with rosacea given that it makes the symptoms worse. Hopefully, this redness/burning isn’t permanent."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I have red, sensitive skin on my face, so my doctor instructed me to use this cream to cure it. It worked at the start, my skin went pale and had no adverse reaction. Then, after day 3 of using it, my skin went on fire. Rebound redness is a thing, and it burned my skin for hours on end. I couldn't leave the house for days. Worst cream in the world, does the opposite of what it's supposed to do. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "Do not use this cream! It makes things worse. My face became perfect after I applied the cream. But after a few hours, I started feeling a terrible burning sensation on my face. And after a few more hours, I all became red."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I would not recommend this product to anyone. I was given a small sample from my derm, and like many people here, it worked for the first ten hours. After the ten hours, my face would flush and burn worse than ever before. I've taken it for three days now and am quitting immediately. I would have quit sooner, but I wasn't sure if the Mirvaso was causing the redness. I just can't believe derms are handing this stuff out so readily."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I have suffered from episodic flushing for most of my life, and nothing has worked, so I decided to try Mirvaso. I tried it for 4 days. Initially, it seemed to decrease the redness. After the first two days, I started to have attacks of bright red, patchy flushes at random times throughout the day, but I thought it was just an initial reaction and would take more time. On the fourth day, I forgot to apply it in the morning, and by noon both of my cheeks were a horrible deep red, my face and ears were burning as though I had my face near a fire. It is 10 times worse than what I started with. I am very disappointed in this product and hope that my face goes back to what it was before using it. Also, I do not recommend trying this, BUT if you go on the Galderma website, you can sign up for their savings card and get the medication price down to $35 or $75 depending on if you have insurance or not."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I was told I had very mild rosacea by my dermatologist at the beginning of 2017. I started using this product, and for the first 6 months, it was amazing! I thought I had found a miracle cream. Starting in the fall, however, everything went downhill. My face started getting dark red/purple at around noon (about 5 hours after I applied Mirvaso). About a month later, the burning started. My face would get so hot, it felt like it was on fire. I saw a different dermatologist, and they told me I probably just had dry skin. This was not the case. It is now February 2018, and I just figured out about 3 days ago that Mirvaso is what has been causing this. It worked for me for so long, so I don't know what caused the side effects to start happening. This is my third day without using it, and I still haven't noticed any difference. My face is still red and burning. I hope this product hasn't caused any permanent damage to my skin. Please do not buy it."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "The doctor told me to use this cream daily. After six days of using it and seeing my red/purple cheeks and nose looking a little better, I started getting what everyone on here is calling rebound redness. My cheeks and chin went bright red... like I had held an iron on them. The burning sensation went across my face, and my lips and tongue tingled. I went back to the doctor, and she told me to apply more cream when the burning came out. The doctor said the burning was my skin doing what it should do, and this was normal. This is not normal. This was happening at 2 pm and 8 pm and lasted around 3 hours. No rhyme or reason why it happened at these random times. I had 7 days of this after I had binned the cream, and thanks to a review on here, I tried applying Sudocrem on the burning areas, and this did calm it down. Bear in mind I used it for 6 days, and it took 7 days to calm down... my lips and tongue tingled for 14 days or so. Don't panic, and for God's sake, don't take the doctor's word as gospel."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I was put on this, and it worked, but afterwards, omg, I was red, my face was burnt, and it looked like I got an allergic reaction because my eye was swollen. My face still looks awful 3 days later. I will never use it again..."

For Rosacea "Horrific experience. My father has rosacea; I developed it in my 30s. I have what I would call a mild but fairly frequent flare-up case. The dermatologist suggested laser for a couple of small spots and suggested this RX cream but noted that my case was so mild he felt the cream could be 'as needed.' I had a mild flare-up. I used the cream and had instant relief. Within an hour, my face looked porcelain: too good to be true. The next morning, I woke up early to a severely burning face. I went to the mirror, and my face was purple and fire engine red. Places that had never been red and didn't receive cream (my forehead) were now tight and burning. I never ever had such a severe flare-up prior to this medicine. I googled it and found 'rebound.' It took over a week for my face to calm down, and one year later, I still get flare-ups like that morning."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "At first, this medication was helping, and then I started getting random flare-ups, and my face would get really blotchy and feel like it's on fire. This had never happened before I started this medication, so I stopped. I'm going to dig deeper and see if I can find a better product."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "Only got this gel last week. After three days of using it, my face flared up. My cheeks and nose have been burning for two days now. I am so embarrassed at work. Despite the expense of the cream, I have stopped using it immediately. I also had a splitting headache and racing heartbeat. I hope the burning will go away. I feel so stupid for not reading reviews in advance, I simply trusted a clinician."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "Please do not use this cream. I had some redness on one side of my face, so my dermatologist prescribed Mirvaso, not mentioning the possible side effects. I applied a small amount on my entire face, and the redness was completely gone in 30 minutes. I was so happy to see that this is working for me. Three hours later, my face turned completely red, and I felt a burning sensation. I did my research on Mirvaso and was shocked by all the negative reviews on this product. I only used it once, and two days later my face is still red and flushing. I hope one time wasn't enough to ruin my face. I don't even understand how Mirvaso is FDA approved when 90% of the reviews are negative."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "Oh, how I wish I had read the reviews before using Mirvaso. I have had a terrible reaction. At first, I was so pleased with how it toned down the redness on my cheeks, but two weeks later, my face is really red and burning. I started using Mirvaso hoping to improve my redness before my son's wedding day, but unfortunately, I look much worse than I have ever done. I applied only a small amount on one side of my face for a few days and was happy with the improvement, so then used it on both cheeks, even my eyes feel sore. I regret ever using this. I didn’t put any on my nose, but my goodness, just call me Rudolf."

For Rosacea "Tried it as NCBI research showed promising results in the reduction of rosacea. Worked very well the first 2 days but noticed an increasing redness, burning, and heat on my face after repeated application throughout the day and night. Became unbearable after day 5. Had to stop. TERRIBLE. Look at all the NCBI research-these are all paid by the company manufacturing brimonidine 0.33%. Galderma. What a scam, do you think they would be biased? And they list 1-4% of patients with minor to moderate adverse effects. Seriously? Look. If it works for you, I'm very happy, but looking at the reviews here, you will see how for MOST, side effects outweigh the benefits after repeated application. Rather look into laser treatments (ONLY by approved dermatologists! Btw)"

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "I still have flare-ups during the day, but there are times when my skin is completely free from any redness, especially about an hour after it's applied. It loses its effectiveness after about 6 hours for me. After the tube is open, I've tried to stretch it out past 30 days, but its effectiveness is not as good when the tube is first opened, I've found. I remember it taking a few weeks when I first started using it, along with a topical cream at night, for my skin to start to change. My script ran out, and I went without it for a week, and I hated not having it. My skin burned and hurt again when I stopped using it for that time. Although it doesn't completely eliminate symptoms, it sure does help, and I will not go a day without it."

"My dermatologist gave me a sample to try on my arms for keratosis pilaris rubra (I also have mild rosacea on my face). I was amazed at how quickly the redness on my arms disappeared. Usually, I do a lot of research before trying new products, especially those that are prescription and not life-saving. Unfortunately, this time I was in a rush to leave home and didn't. Approximately 24 hours later, both arms went beet red. They burned for hours. Finally, the redness subsided, but it happened again about 24 hours after that (only one arm this time). I was not in contact with any normal triggers, i.e., sun, alcohol, etc. After one application, the rebound occurred. How long before it goes back to normal?"

For Rosacea "Used these drops on face for redness once. At first, I thought this stuff was miraculous, hadn't seen my skin looking so normal in years, but of course, it was too good to be true. It wore off the next day, and my face is now redder than it was to begin with. Also feels burning/hot, and redness where there wasn't any before and slightly puffy/swollen. Will not be using this again."

For Rosacea "I tried this product, and I loved the effects of having pale skin and not worrying about flushing. When this product wears off, I have a really bad burning sensation and redness, and I have to take an aspirin to calm my skin down. I decided to discontinue using it."

For Rosacea "Used Mervosa for just a few days, and every day when the medicine wore off, my face got progressively worse, with extreme redness and a burning sensation. My face is hot, and I will never try anything unnatural on my face again. I should have been more wary of my dermatologist when he recommended Cetaphil after I told him I don't use anything with parabens or sulfates in it. Lesson learned, I suppose....."

Brimonidine topical for Rosacea "A dermatologist prescribed Mirvaso to me for my rosacea, and it cost nearly $80 for the tube. I used it for 2 days, and my face swelled up and blistered, and I got a rough, itchy, shocking rash. My face looked terribly burnt, and I stopped using it immediately. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone."
